~Saturday 2:05 A.M
Voices were playing on the “television” In a dimly lit room. There were fake vines surrounding the top, giving it a “homley” feel. It was a small room with just a couch and a bowl of cookies that sat on the small table in front of the couch that was occupied by two people. Two insomniacs.
They stared at the “television” and mindlessly ate cookie after cookie. The bigger skeleton had an arm wrapped around the other, as a blanket was draped over them. The voices on the TV were arguing about some sort of romance. They both thought it was cheesy but still entertaining.
They continued eating the freshly baked cookies until one remained. They paused and looked at the cookie, looked at each other, then back at the cookie. The smaller skeleton grabbed the cookie, with a feeling of triumphant, until he looked and saw the displeasure on the other face.
He took a moment for consideration then put half of the cookie in his mouth, then grabbed the other’s face and kissed him.
“There,” Dream said with a grin, “now we both have a piece.”
Error stood there, small glitch marks filling his body, until he quickly looked away. His effort of hiding his flush amused Dream, but he decided to disregard it. Instead, he wrapped his arm around Error and returned to the show.
“What even is this?” Error turned back at Dream and began to explain,
“Oh, it’s just some portal to this AU. I usually watch this type of shit in my free time.”
Dream looked at the small people, with new-founded curiosity. It must be weird, being in an AU where you act all dramatic. Do they even know they’re being watched?
“I call it Undernovella.” Error shifted in his seat, moving Dream closer inside his arms. “I highly recommend it.”
Dream continued to stare at the “television” with fascination. He paid close attention to how each character moved, spoke, and lived their lives. Were people watching him right now, at this very moment? If only he had something to eat with these thoughts.
“Do they know you’re watching them? It’s sort of creepy if you think about it?” He asked.
Error laughed hoarsely.
“I hope not. I need this kind of stuff. If they found out I was using them for entertainment, it would be so awkward!”
Dream chuckled as he rested his head beneath Error’s chin.
Error held his breath as he gazed at his partner who seemed to be invested in the drama. Error had this soft fuzzy feeling in his chest as he saw that Dream was enjoying his favorite past-time. He felt glad that someone was happy with him, and trusted him.
He felt validated.
…
“Did you hear about Ink lately?” Dream asked.
There goes his validation.
It took Error moments choosing to either pretend he’s gone deaf or to answer out of manners. The first option was a no-go since Dream was his beloved after all.
“No.” He groaned.
“I heard he almost burnt an AU because of some toaster,” Dream chuckled. “Blue has not given him a break ever since.”
Error’s eyes widened momentarily, then laughed hysterically. He had his hand on his face, while his stomach felt like it was burning. Dream followed in the laughter, leaving them gasping for breath together.
“OH MY SHIT! WHO LET HIM NEAR A TOASTER?” He wiped a tear that was on the verge of falling from his eye as he was still gasping for his dear life.
“Some idiot.” Dream snickered.
“An idiot dumber than him? No way!”
They sat like this together, ignoring the “television” as they continued to laugh. It wasn’t until later that Dream controlled himself and cuddled closer to his partner.
Error paused after the sudden action, staring widely at Dream. His gaze softened and rested his chin on his partner's head, dozing off to sleep.
Dream chuckled and fell asleep.
