Chapter 1: Snap Back To Reality

Chapter Text

She can think…she can think! Vanessa didn't know why or how but she knew she was free. Firstly she tore off the patchwork rabbit mask she'd been forced to wear for the better part of her shifts at the Pizzaplex. The joy of freedom was washed away quickly however as a wave of fatigue crashed over her. "Dear lord how long did that old fuck keep me awake?" She asked herself as she shambled her way to her office. The old man would sometimes take full control over her if she tried to escape then she'd wake up presumably days later surrounded by take out and Red Bull cans. going through the trashed halls of the main atrium she noticed the extra S.T.A.F.F bots were roaming around and she slowly recalled why they were active she knew she had to turn them all off before that kid was put into anymore danger. Briefly she considered just walking to her car and speeding off but after all that rabbit made her do she figured she could at least save one child. Passing over the Fazer-Blast catwalks she spotted the broken scraps of what used to be the namesake of this godforsaken franchise. Finally Slumping into her office chair Vanessa could barely keep herself awake. She quickly shut down all of the animatronics, corporate could deal with all the damage. Unfortunately her fatigue reached its peak the moment she stood up and she collapsed.

She was being nudged…why was she being nudged? There's this voice too… "Vanessa?" It says, in a concerned way. Opening her eyes she saw the large scruffy figure of the Head of day security, Ned, While the old man viewed Ned as a Fazbear obsessed man child Vanessa thought there was a certain charm to how much Ned seemed to enjoy working at the Pizzaplex. "Huh?" Was all that she could get out. "Long shift?" Ned asked, slightly concerned for his rabbit costumed coworker…wait rabbit costumed!? OH SHIT…Vanessa shot up as she realized she was still in the costume. "Yeah, yep everythings good" she said as she all but sprinted to the employee locker rooms. Ned followed but stopped when he realized where he had followed her. From outside of the room he said "Look I don't care if you're a furry or whatever, what I do care about however is how you passed out last night" not having the energy to lie she simply said "I was just really tired" Ned sighed "Right, you should probably take a few nights off then" Vanessa chuckled at the idea, she hadn't taken time off since the day she tested that damn game. "Y'know what I will! considering how the S.T.A.F.F. Bots do everything. I don't know why we even still work here" she said, stuffing the last of the suit into her duffle bag. "I just gotta grab some things from my office." She said as she walked past her coworker. In an attempt to avoid letting Ned see any of the damage from last night Vanessa took the scenic route but as she passed by Rockstar Row she noticed something very wrong: In each greenroom, as though nothing had happened to them, sat all four Glamrocks. Vanessa froze, a weak “What. The. Fuck.” left her mouth. Catching up to her Ned looked at her in confusion “What? What do you have a fear of the animatronics all of a sudden?” she turned to the man, her eyes widening “They’re okay…How are they okay?” Ned, beginning to get genuinely worried, responds “Yeeeeeah? Why wouldn’t th-” before he could finish Vanessa dashed back to the office she woke up in. Ned followed slowly behind. Bursting into the small room Vanessa froze once again as she stared at the empty space where the mattress she spent many sleepless nights on had once been. “It’s gone…my stuff is gone” she muttered. “Okay you’re scaring me now Vanessa, your stuff is right there on the desk” he said, gesturing to a phone and lunch box Vanessa had never seen before in her life. Partially in a daze she walked over to the desk and picked up the phone which unlocked itself with her bewildered face. The home screen was an image that seemed almost criminally normal for what was supposedly her phone. It was a goofily edited image of her and a group of people she vaguely recognized as other Pizzaplex employees at what looked to be the company holiday party. Even more confusingly there were text notifications from who she assumed were the same coworkers, the most recent ones mentioning something about weekend plans. “What…the hell is this?” she said “Y-your phone?” Ned said with a nervous chuckle “N-no all of this! Why is everything normal?” she almost screamed “I…What? Vanessa answer me honestly, are you okay?” Ned asked. The genuine concern in his voice pulled her from her panic. “It’s been so long since anybody asked me that” she mumbled as she started to break down. “O-okay I guess not…uh…Do you wanna talk about it?” She really did, she needed somebody to know the hell she’s been through for the last four years, but how could she? She could never admit to what she’s done, she’d get jailed on the spot. “No.” she got out through the tears. “That’s okay, but if you do wanna talk at some point I’m here” he said handing her a box of tissues. After some time Vanessa started to regain her composure “O-okay I think I’m ready to go now” she said slowly standing up. “I’m going to be honest I don’t think you're in any state to drive” Ned said matter-of-factly “Good point, Would you mind driving me?” she asked “Of course” he responded. As the two walked to the parking lot Vanessa knew she needed to get to the bottom of this.
