Work Text:
A not-so quiet porch with a vast farm field stretching as far as the eyes can see. It was mid day with the sun shining its bright smile over the green hills. Birds flapping up and about, singing their stories to one another up in the dark blue skies under the soft white clouds.
Creak... creak...
The sound of rocking chairs rhythmically filling the porch with sounds, else the void of silence would consume. Two married couple merrily sitting on their rocking chairs, enjoying the peaceful noon with each others' companies.
Side by side, their chairs rocked, yet both of their hands met each others' loving touch in the middle--one's wrinkled, and the other's small and soft.
Amelia, in her old age, was enjoying her time with her beloved wife at the farmside they both had always dreamed of since young. She has lived a long and adventurous life with her friends. Glory days have long left her, and she was happy that she could live them all with her companions by her side.
Gura, in her old age, yet still young in appearance, was enjoying the presence of sunshine by her side. Both of them reminiscing the good old days together in the silent front porch.
🔎 : Hey, stinky.
Ame's voice broke the silence like a sea wave reaching a beach shore.
🔱 : Yes, bozo?
Gura answered with a soft smile on her face like a gleaming sunshine.
🔎 : Do you remember the box of fake lemons you gave me long time ago?
🔱 : Yeah. The one you put on the attic, right?
🔎 : Yep, and it's still there last time I checked.
Amelia's face turned into a melancholic gaze towards the horizon. Gura looked at her and firmed her grasp on top of Ame's palm.
🔎 : I know it's sudden, but yknow... even though I'm a time-traveler, I cannot fight against time itself. So, yknow haha...
A melancholic gaze turned into a melancholic smile. Amelia's smile seemed as if she was ready to accept the fate of her near future, and she was prepared for it. Gura knew what Ame was implying, yet she didn't want to say it out.
🔱 : You remember why I gave them to you, right?
Gura lowered her face, holding back a small tear from her ocean blue eyes, but one could easily tell by her raspy voice.
Amelia reached her hand to Gura's chin and made her raise her head facing towards Ame.
Flick
Amelia flicked Gura's forehead softly.
🔱 : Owww, what was that for, you dumbo-
And in an instant, Gura's teary eyes were widened in the sight of such brilliant smile coming from Ame, the same smile that made her fell in love with her the very first time all those years ago. The smile that made Gura's heart fluttering like flowers blossom.
🔎 : Heh, of course I remember - they were your sign of love for me, and I still cherish them.
A brief pause. Amelia wiped a small tear running down the eyes of the crybaby shark. A gesture of reassurance.
🔎 : What I meant to ask of you was... can I... by the time I lay on my last "bed", can I be buried with all of the lemons, except for 3?
Amelia's words struck through Gura's ears, ringing inside her head as she was reminded that Amelia was just a human; not a mythical creature like the rest of the Myth. Amelia couldn't live as long as the Myths.
Gura finally let go of her emotion and teared up silently. She thought she had prepared for this moment, but alas, it was too much for the crybaby shark. She would live on for another thousands of years, but without the warm presence of the sunshine. And this fact was too much for her.
🔱 : Why... the lemons?
Gura's voice could be heard raspy - the voice that was holding back tears.
🔎 : Well... I want to be buried with your tokens of love; I want to carry your love forever with me. And as for the other 3... I want you to give them each to Naomi, Clementine, and... you.
Gura burst into big tears and rushed to Ame's front, hugging her tightly, yet softly. They both kept in each others' embrace for a long while as Ame kept patting the shark's head, caressing her.
