Nancy Drew: The Ghost of Hunter's Moon

Summary:

On vacation in England with her best friends Bess Marvin and George Fayne to help George's aunt with her new business, Nancy Drew stumbles across a mystery surrounding a local village festival and the legends of the town. With a vandal on the loose and a ghost stalking the night, Nancy will have to solve the mystery in order to ensure that the festival goes off without a hitch.

Notes:

Hello all! I wrote this story for the Nancy Drew Fan Zine, and in honor of the second edition of the Zine (and the potential new game, squee) I decided to post a few chapters here to allow people to comment on the story. The next chunk of chapters will be available in the second Zine and in future Zine printings, so if you would like to have access to them before anyone else and more ND content, make sure to support the Zine!

Chapter 1: Prologue

Chapter Text

Dear Hannah,

It was nice of George’s aunt to invite us to stay at her new B&B in England before her grand opening. George said her aunt retired from her job as a corporate accountant and wanted to settle somewhere quaint and do something different with her life. Well, I can’t imagine anything different than running a B&B! The inn is an old building from what I understand, and part of it is a pub if you can believe that! Her new business partner in fact is the old publican who wanted to purchase the business when the old owner decided to sell. Apparently, he and George’s aunt came to some kind of agreement to go into business together. I’m not sure what kind of person he is, but George assures me, if he puts up with her aunt, he must be a bit eccentric himself.

Bess is a little put out we won’t be staying in a larger city. She is looking forward to the shops in Bath and the cheese factory in Glastonbury, but it will be at least a week before we get to those areas. Apparently, though, we’ll be just in time for the local festival the village is famous for, something about a legend and an old witch! George seemed to think it had something to do with the old rumors that the tomb of Morgan le Fay is near the village. You know Morgana from the Arthurian legends? It seems a bit too fantastical to be true, but the festival sounds fun and it’ll be interesting to explore some of the local sites nearby.

As for me, well I think a vacation will do me some good. Dad seems to think so, and enjoying the festival and helping George’s aunt finish setting up her B&B sounds like just the things to truly relax the mind and body. No mysteries for me, at least for now.

Make sure to take good care of Togo for me while I’m away! And make sure Dad eats something every now and then.

Love,

Nancy
