Chapter Text
So I guess I should start this off with mentioning this was inspired by Nyoko Arts on youtube (Link to said youtube here: https://www.youtube.com/@NyokoArts/videos) and Clangen obviously (Which can be found here: https://sablesteel.itch.io/clan-gen-fan-edit). This game is genuinely really fun and addicting, I think I spend at least four hours on a test Clan the moment I tried it for the first time so I have to give a big thanks to everyone that worked on it, the sprites are adorable and the whole game is an inspiration boost that I really need sometimes.
With that, here's the rules I'll be using for this challenge:
- The ability for same-sex partners to have kittens is ON
- Cats will not retire to the elders den because of a permanent condition (lore-wise, I won't make cats into medicine cats because of a disability either)
- The canon rule that medicine cats can't have a mate or kits makes no sense so I will not be using it. Med cats can take mates at any time but will only have kits if there's another med cat around to temporarily take over their duties.
- The leader choosing a deputy on their own is ON, no idea how long that's gonna last.
- Each chapter will feature one year of FlightClan (talking about each cat individually or together if it fits the story) or I'll write a specific part showing important events, like a leader ceremony or battle. I've always been more of a writer than an artist and I don't have any fancy program or special drawing tablet so their likely won't be any art unless I can find a place to put the occasional paint + mouse drawing. AO3 won't let me upload pictures and Deviantart is going down the drain so I'm kind of at a loss regarding that.
I might add to these at some point, we'll see what happens.
That's everything except for the backstory I think, so without further ado, a small bit on how FlightClan became FlightClan:
SharpClan was known to be ruthless and cruel towards outsiders, with a leader more concerned about winning and having more territory than actually caring for the Clan. Obsessed with having the strongest and most fierce warriors, this leader dispised any sort of perceived weakness. When two young kittens, one still very small at four moons old and the other often sickly, showed no signs of 'improving' in the leader's eyes, they decided to 'dispose' of them. A mated pair and two other warriors strongly opposed this idea, fleeing with both the kittens and their apprentices in the middle of the night after being unable to change the leader's mind. Unfortunately, they were caught right after crossing the border and one warrior sustained heavy injuries in the battle that followed, later dying of them after the group escaped. The remaining cats now live in a large grassland, having made their home in an old badger's set, starting their own Clan where the kits will hopefully be able to grow up without SharpClan's scorn hanging over their heads.
