Chapter Text

The Boiling Isles is the same as ever. Sun out, some water boiling, monstrous birds flying by.

In this fantasy land, there is a home owned by a cursed witch who lives with a human, a little demon, and a bird worm. This home is called The Owl House.

In the Owl House, Luz is hanging out with Eda and King and also Hooty, as they play some card games. 

Human card games to be exact; Luz just taught them gold fish. 

"Got any fives?" King asks Hooty. 

"Gold fish!" Hooty happily yells. 

The three of them groan; complaining. Hooty has won - again.

"What?!"

"You just won every other game!"

"Every time..." 

Luz puts her cards down. "Hey Eda." Luz calls. Eda looks at Luz curiously. 

"Yeah, what is it, kid?" 

"Someone asked me today to ask you if you're single?" This shocked Eda.

She couldn't help but chuckle at this. "What?! Who?" 

"I don't know, some guy." 

"Ooooo, trying to get yourself on the market, Eda?" Hooty teases. 

Eda then throws her cards at Hooty's face. "OW!" He yells as he falls to the ground being dramatic. 

"Whoever that guy is, tell him no. I'm not interested." Eda states crossing her arms. 

"Aw, come on, Eda! You're not getting any younger, you should find someone to settle down with." Luz retorts. 

"Bleh, you sound my Mom. Trust me kid, I'm fine." Eda assures. 

"Hey, what about that old friend of yours?" Luz suggests. 

"Old friend? You mean Raine Whispers?" King questions. 

Eda's face then became red as she whispers their name. "Raine?"

"Oh yeah! I remember you telling us you had a history with them?" Luz reminds. 

Eda quickly gets up. "No - I never did - we were just friends - ok I had enough games for today I'll be in my room. Byeeee!" She walks off and heads to her room. 

Luz then smirks. "Oh yeah, she's got it bad." Luz smugly says. "Has what?" King asks. 

"She's lovesick." Luz replies. 

Hooty stretches towards Luz. "With Raine?" He asks.

Luz puts the cards away. "Pfft, yeah, but... they use to date but they broke up, I also don't know if Raine still has feelings too, so I think Eda needs someone new!"

"Someone new? Like.. a whole new person?" King questions. His voice having a hint of worry.

"Uh duh!" Luz says. 

She then gets up and grabs King. "Let's go find the guy!" King then gets off Luz's shoulder.

"Woah woah Luz. I-I don't think this is a good idea... I mean, Eda looked serious when she said that she didn't want to be with that guy. Look, it's pretty obvious she still likes Raine, so how about we just find them!" King suggests. 

"King, I don't even know where they are!" Luz complains. 

"Hmm..." King thinks. Hooty then puts his face against King's. "I can help with that!" 

King pushes Hooty's face away annoyed. "Weh!"

"You know where Raine is?" Luz asks. 

"Nope. But they did drop these off for Eda once." Hooty goes next to some flowers that are in a vase. 

"Did Eda know it was from them?" Luz asks. 

"Nope. I didn't think it was them either till I saw them come back yesterday checking up." Luz and King grab Hooty's face. 

"WHERE DID THEY GO?!" They both yell.

"AH! Ok ok, I sensed them go South." Hooty answers. "Let's go!" Luz grabs King and heads out.

Out in Bonesborough, Luz and King are walking around the streets. "Okay, Hooty said Raine went South, which means they're in Bonesborough, at least somewhere around here..." Luz says to herself. She looks around cautiously. 

The occasional demons passing by doing their own thing, like Tinella Nose quickly running off with some books, Boshca and her friends taking a selfie and some demon eating a guy who was giving him a not dog. 

"So what happens if - oof!" King runs into someone. That someone turns out to be the guy that Luz was talking about this morning. "It's you. The human!" The guy says. 

He stands to be about Eda's height, medium skin, blonde hair with a man bun. "It's you!" Luz shockingly says.

"He's the guy?!" King yells. 

"Yeah, he's the one who asked me about Eda." Luz helps King get up. 

"Sorry for bumping into you, my names Zack, but I'm rather curious to know what Eda's answer was." Zack asks.

Luz became nervous. "Oh! Uh... sorry but Eda said she isn't interested.." Zack's face showed he was upset. 

"Well that's a bummer." He then reaches into his bag that he was carrying and hands Luz a bottle. 

"Give Eda this drink, she may not have wanted to be with me but that doesn't mean that I couldn't give her a present." Luz happily grabs it as King makes a disgusted groan and expression. 

"Don't drink it, it's a special drink for Eda only." He winks; then leaves. 

"Ooo, a present for Eda!" Luz observes the bottle to see that it's contained in a metal bottle so she couldn't see the color. She opens the cap and smells it. Her eyes widened. 

"Woah, it smells like soda back at home!!" Luz happily yells. 

King then takes a whiff. "No, it smells like grape phantom!" King corrects. 

"What? No it's obviously soda!"

"Phantom!"

"Soda!"

"Phantom!"

"Soda!"

The two stare at each other intensely with frustration and then both ran off back home.

The two of them quickly burst open the owl house door. "Eda!!" They scream. 

They run up to Eda who was fixing up stuff in the living room. "What? Why are you two yelling?" Eda questions. 

"Smell this! It's obviously soda!" Luz yells as she shows Eda the bottle. Eda grabs it and observes. 

"No, it's Grape Phantom!" King argues. Eda smells it and became confused. 

"You both are wrong." Eda replies. 

"Huh?" The two said confused. 

"It's Apple Blood." Eda corrects. King and Luz became more confused. "What?!" 

"Yeah, it's Apple Blood. Thanks for bringing my favorite drink, we actually just ran out." Eda states as she then drinks the drink. 

As she drank it, it shows that the liquid is red with pink sparkles. 

Once Eda finished, she coughed a little. "Woah, I felt something weird go down my throat." Eda opens her eyes as they sparkled. 

"Where did you get this?" She asks. "Oh, this guy named Zack told us to give it to you." Luz replies. 

"He's also the guy that asked if you were single." King adds sounding annoyed about the guy. Eda holds her head. 

"Zack..." she whispers. "Hey, Luz, if you wouldn't mind. I actually wouldn't mind taking his offer." 

"Really?!" King and Luz yell surprised. 

"You're right Luz, I ain't getting any younger. It's time I settle down. Where can I find him?" Luz and King were absolutely shocked. 

"I-In Bonesborough." Luz replies. 

"Thanks kid." Eda thanks as she walks off going to Bonesborough. Luz and King just stand there: shocked. 

A couple days later, Luz, King, and Hooty are playing cards. "Got any threes?" Luz asks. 

That's when the door opens revealing an excited Eda. 

"Hey freeloaders! You guys aren't gonna believe this!" She says excitedly. 

There was so much excitement in her voice she almost sounded like Luz when she fangirls about something.

Which honestly scared the trio since they have never seen Eda like this before.

"What is it?" Luz asks. Eda then shows her hand showing a ring. 

"Zack just proposed to me!" Eda happily says. Luz, King, and Hooty all drop their cards as their jaws dropped. They didn't have any words. 

Well, except for Luz. "D-Didn't you guys just started dating a couple days ago?!" Luz yells confused. 

"Only a couple days? Oh wow, it's felt like more than that." Eda admits in awe.

Everyone looks at each other confused. "Anyhow, Luz, I need you come with me to help me steal a dress." 

"Wait what?"

Eda grabs Luz. "Come on!" They slam the door. 

King and Hooty are left alone in the house, Hooty looks at the cards and grabs some with his mouth. He throws the stack of cards in the air. "Gold fish!" He yells as King just makes a "really?" face at Hooty. 

That's when a knock was at the door. King goes to answer. He gasps. "Raine?!" 

"Hi King." Raine happily greets. 

"W-What are you doing here?" King became nervous as he played with his little fingers - or paws?

"I'm actually here to see Eda." 

"Oh, uh, Eda went out with Luz. I think I know where they could of went." King leaves with Raine.

They make it to Bonesborough. King and Raine are walking around and eventually make it to different mini shops. "They have to be somewhere around here. Eda always steals around these parts." King explains. 

"Eda still steals?" Raine chuckles. 

"Huh? Oh yeah, that's how we get most of our stuff." King replies. 

He then notices a fountain. "A fountain!" He quickly runs towards it. Raine walking up to the fountain as King frantically gets up on it. King looks into the fountain to see some snails inside. 

Raine digs in their pockets and takes out a snail. "Here." King happily takes it. King puts the coin close to his heart as he closes his eyes and thinks about his wish. 

He eventually throws the coin into the fountain making a little 'weh' as he does. "What did you wish for?" Raine asks.

Before King could answer, they both heard yelling, they look in front of them to see Eda and Luz being kicked out of a store. 

They see Luz in an all white tux and Eda's casual dress has turned white! The guy of the store yells at them. "Stay out!" He angrily yells. 

"Ah forget him." Eda says as Luz gets up and wipes off any dirt. Raine's eyes glistened seeing Eda in that dress. King and Raine go up to the two. 

"Woah! What happened to your dress? It went from red to white!" King observes. 

"You look beautiful." Raine compliments. Eda smiles. 

"Aww, thanks Raine." King looked at Raine then at Eda.

Quickly, the little demon then grabs Luz's hand and drags her away from Eda and Raine. 

Eda then takes out a tool that looks like a phone but with no screen, instead just a circle in the middle. Eda presses it causing her dress to go back to normal. 

"This device really does the trick." Eda puts the device away. Raine scratches their neck. 

"Eda..." Eda looks at Raine curiously. This made Raine nervous, cheeks pink, they gulp and is frozen in place. "Uh, never mind, it's nothing. How have you been?" They said. 

Eda chuckles. "It's been a while, Raine. I've been great. Actually... well... I'll tell you later when everything is ready. Come on Luz, we still got more to do!" Eda calls. 

Luz looks up at Eda. "Coming!" She scratches King's belly. "Bye buddy." Luz goes up to Eda. "Bye Raine!" Eda and Luz say. 

As they left, King goes next to Raine and looks at them, to see they have a longing look towards Eda. King's eyes widened as he realizes. 

"Ooo, I see what's going on here." King says as he nudged Raines leg. 

"What?" Raine replies confused. 

"You still like - no no... you still love Eda!" King retorts pointing at them. Raine's face became blushed. 

"K-King, what would give you that idea?!" They questioned, but obviously knows the answer.

"Maybe it's the fact that you look saddened when you aren't around her, and when you are around her your face gets all red, you said you came to see Eda, and not to mention you just said how beautiful she looked just now." King explains. 

"Can't an old friend say their friend looks.."

"Beautiful? An old "friend", huh? Jeez, and we thought Eda was lovesick." King jumps on Raines shoulders. "Let me give you the run down on Eda. So you can get caught up." King insists. 

"Why would you help me?"

"As Eda's legal son, that's makes me obliged to help her be happy." King looks down. "And... I honestly think she could be really happy with you." Raine smiles at King's comment. 

Back at the Owl House, King is explaining to Raine random stuff about Eda that they've likely missed for these past couple years. 

Raine leaned back, their back touching the couch, as their legs and arms are crossed. "So Eda's had some partners in her life time, but they never really lasted. How long did you two dated for?" King asks. 

"Many years, I can't really say exactly how long..." Raine admits. "But we've known each other for a long time. Hexside times to be exact."

"Well it's a hundred percent the longest relationship she's had. I assume you know about her curse?" King asks. Raine looks down sadly. 

"Yeah... I do."

"You seem to be pretty caught up. She's a powerful witch, a very wanted criminal, she loves to carry me in her arms, I'm her legal son, her favorite drink of all time is apple blood—" 

When Raine heard the apple blood comment, they smiled a little. They remembered back when they introduced apple blood to Eda. They never thought she'd become overly obsessed with it.

"Oh yeah, um, I think there's something wrong with Eda..." Raine snaps out of it when they heard King's comment. 

"What's wrong with her?" They ask. Worry taking over their voice.

"A couple days ago... Eda got into a relationship with this guy.." Raine looked rather sad hearing those words. 

"Here's the thing, a couple days ago she didn't want to be with the guy, then suddenly she did! Somethings wrong with her and I think you could help out. After all, you're really close with Eda and I think you could help. She's engaged to the guy, that's why she was in that dress. Raine, please help." King pleads. 

Raine sits up to rub King's cold skull. "I'll help. Don't worry, I'll knock some sense into her." That's when the door opens as Eda and Luz come in. 

"Woah, didn't expect you to be in my house, Raine." Eda admits. 

"King brought me here." Raine replies. 

"I'll be in my room real quick, it's a good thing you're here, I got to finish what I was gonna tell you earlier." Eda retorts as she goes upstairs. 

Raine just looks at Eda go towards her room. Raine's finger started fidgeting. King and Luz notice. "Something wrong?" Luz asks. 

Raine looks at the two kids. "N-Nothing. Why are you asking?" They nervously ask, sounding obviously not okay. 

Luz and King look at each other then smile. "You should go have a talk with Eda." Luz suggests

Raine knocks on Eda's door. "Eda?" They call. 

"You can come in!"

They walk inside and blush seeing Eda in her white dress. "I was just checking on my new dress." Raine walks up to Eda. "I'm actually getting married."

"I heard." Raine replies. Their voice, obviously upset, but is hiding it through a smile. 

Eda leans against her desk as she faces Raine. "I wanted to ask if you were okay coming to my wedding. I know our past is... rather difficult but, you're a good friend to me and I want you at my wedding." Raine clenches their hand into a fist. 

They walk in front of Eda. "Eda... I was told that you've only dated this guy for a couple of days."

"Yeah, but every time we hang out it's felt longer than that." 

Raine looks down sadly. "You've only known him for a couple days. Do you really want to spend the rest of your life with him?"

"Do you think he isn't right for me?"

"I just think you should think through it more. I don't want you to marry him and then you get heartbroken."

"Aww, are you worried about me?"

"Of course I am." Raine immediately says. They grab Eda's shoulders, their force so strong it causes Eda to fully sit on top of her desk.

Raine and Eda's bodies now close to each other. Eda puts her hands on Raine's. Raine can feel their heart beating faster.

"Raine, there's nothing for you to worry about. I'm happy." Raine's eyes widened as they looked into Eda's eyes. 

Her eyes are so glossy, like if she could cry... her eyes don't look happy... they look sad?

For some reason, Eda started to drag Raine's hands from her shoulders to her waist; almost like a natural instinct. Raine felt themselves get nervous; their breathing abnormal.

Eda slowly with a featherlight touch dragged her fingers across Raine's arms, to their shoulders, up their neck and to their jaw. The touch on their neck and jaw made them gulp. Eda rests her hands on Raine's chest.

Raine pulled Eda closer to them, both their foreheads touching.

Raine and Eda look at each other deeply, Raine couldn't look away and neither could Eda, but Raine didn't notice that they're getting closer and closer to Eda's lips.

"Raine?" This snaps them out of it and they soon realized what they were about to do. They quickly let go of Eda. "S-Sorry... I'll leave." 

They quickly walk towards the door, but Eda quickly gets off the desk. "Raine wait!"

Raine turns to Eda, they accidentally bump into the door and try to find the handle. They were a stuttering mess. "I-I'm sorry. I'm sorry!"

Raine bursts out the door and slams it shut. They have a hard time trying to stay standing due to their legs being numb now.

Once they were out the room, they face palmed hard. Groaning at what happened. They walked down the stairs, and once they turned the corner, they bump into someone. They look and its Zack! 

"Who are you?" Raine questioned. 

"Zack. I'm Eda's fiancé." Raine felt their heart stop for a second. 

"I came over to check up on Eda. Who are you?" Zack questions. 

Raine didn't want to admit it, but they felt intimidated by the guy.

"A.. friend. A childhood friend of Eda's." Raine responds. 

"Really? For being such a close friend, I've never heard your name once." Zack mocks. 

Raine felt themselves getting more and more angry with Zack. He looks into Raine's eyes maliciously. 

"Oh, I see. You're trying to get Eda for yourself." Raine gulped. 

What is he doing? Why is he doing this? Raine was stuck and couldn't speak. Zack gets close to Raine; threatening them. 

"Don't even try. What makes you think you can make her happier than I can? I don't think your a close friend, you're her ex." Raine quietly gasped. 

Zack then puffs up his chest as he gives Raine a degrading look as he walks closer to Raine. "You can't even talk back?" 

He then leans down to Raine's face. "Pitiful little bard." Zack puts their hand on Raine's head. "So short - meanwhile Eda's much taller." 

Zack then roughly grabs Raine's forearm. "Nothing to show off, Whispers?" 

Raine roughly grabs Zacks hand, Zack was rather surprised by Raine's strength; raising an eyebrow. 

"Ooh, you're a sleeper build?" Zack just chuckles. 

Raine angrily throws Zack's hands away from them. "How in Titans name did you get someone like Eda?"

Because she loves me for who I am.

Although Raine said it in their head that doesn't mean Zack heard it. All Raine did was stand still looking at the ground not saying a word.

This makes Zack chuckle. They lean close to their ear.

"You made her cry once, what makes you think she'll want you back after that?" Zack shoulders Raine as he walks towards Eda's room.

"She's mine now." 

Raine felt their body twitch. Their breathing becoming abnormal. Raine groans as they walk up towards the entrance of the living room and hits their head on the frame. 

"Raine? What's wrong?" Luz asks. Raine sighs. 

"It's nothing... just... Eda's fiancé passed by." Raine replies, their voice lower than normal.

"Oh yeah, he just came waltzing in. Wanted to see Eda, I guess." King says. Eda and Zack's words stuck with Raine. 

"Raine, there's nothing for you to worry about. I'm happy."

"What makes you think you can make her happier than I can?"

"You made her cry once, what makes you think she'll want you back after that?"

Raine walks out. "I'm getting fresh air." As they closed the door, Luz and King give each other a look of concern.

Raine was sitting outside in the rain, for once, not actually being boiling rain. Which in the boiling isles, they say means: good luck is coming towards someone.

Raine is sitting at the edge of the cliff behind the owl house. 

Behind them, is King holding an umbrella. "Um.. hi." King softly says. Raine turns around. "I brought you an umbrella." 

King gives a smile, and his voice sounded soft and rather shy, it was a sweet voice. Raine gives an affiliative smile. They grab the umbrella. "Thank you, King." 

Raine holds the umbrella as King then sits next to Raine. "What are you doing out here?" King asks. 

Raine's face showed sadness but they tried to keep the smile. "Remember when you said that I still loved Eda? You were right..." King's face became surprised. "I still love her, but.." the moment they said "but" King's expression changed. 

"She doesn't. She's marrying someone else, someone she believes will make her happy." They sign. "I can't believe I thought I had another chance..." King looks down. 

"Is there anything I can do to help?" King softly asks. Raine shakes their head. 

"No, I don't think you can. It's a nice offer though." Raine grips onto their pants tightly, to keep their leg from shaking anymore violently. 

King puts their little paw over Raines hand that's on their shaking leg. "Raine." They look at King. "Why did you and Eda break up?" 

This question made Raine quietly gasp and their eyes widened. Raine looks down as they put one leg up against their chest. 

"At some point during our early adult years, we started dating, it was the best moments of my life... and I was skipping a performance one day because to my stage fright, Eda advised me to face my problems head-on. But, Eda's inability to share her problems with me, is what led me to breaking up with her. She lied to me about being okay, she lied about her curse, she would just lie and I hated it! I didn't understand why she couldn't just tell me what's wrong with her?! She was like a different person and I just want to know why she couldn't trust me on telling me. I wondered if she had trust issues with me or if I was the problem? If she would of just told me everything then we could of been okay and maybe..." 

Raine then stops as they put an arm on their leg. King sees Raine having a tear in their eye. They wipe it off. "Maybe we could of still been together.. not a day goes by where I wonder what our lives could of been like if.. she just told me... I said we should see other people..." 

Raine then puts their head down on top of their arm that's on their leg. "I should of known those words were nothing but lies." 

King looks down at his paws as he plays with his little fingers. "Ya know, I remember something Luz once told me." Raine looks up at King as their eyes are red from crying.

King looks at Raine. "If you love something, set it free. If it comes back to you, it's yours. If it doesn't, then it was never yours to begin with." 

Raine was surprised hearing those words. "You loved Eda, so you set her free, but then she came back to you. Many times actually, which means she's meant to be yours! Don't give up, Raine." 

King stands up. "The Eda I know would love to be with Raine Whispers. Being Eda's legal son, I'm obliged to say I don't like her new boyfriend so she should leave him, while Eda gets with a more mature and definitely more better partner." 

Raine softly chuckles. "You love saying that you're Eda's son." Raine notices. 

"Because I am. I'm a proud Clawthorne. If we hurry, it could turn into a Whispers." Raine's face became red. 

"King!" Raine's yell made King laugh as he runs off into the owl house.

The next day, in the morning, Luz, King, Hooty, and Raine are talking in the living room. 

Eda isn't home because Zack took her last night. They didn't know where but they assume for the wedding that's happening - today!

Raine didn't want to admit it, but they couldn't sleep at all last night. They paced around Eda's room and even looked out her window to see if she'd come back home. 

Raine did sleep, but nothing more an 2 hours at least. "We gotta hurry up with a plan, the wedding is today!" King reminds. 

"I know, King. But we have to be cautious. We don't know anything about Zack, whether or not he's strong or who he's associated with." Luz states, she continues. "But we also need to figure out why Eda fell in love with Zack in the first place. She out of nowhere asked about him?" 

They all think. Then suddenly the door bursts open. "Is Eda here?!" Lilith yells. 

"Ah!!" This scares the whole house. 

"Lulu!" Hooty happily says. 

"Lilith? What are you doing here?" Raine questions. 

"Yeah, this is unexpected." King admits. 

Lilith walks up towards the group. "I found out Eda's getting married. I wanted to ask her about it." 

"How do you know about the wedding?" Luz asks. 

"There are fliers around the boiling isles about this wedding. I was rather surprised to hear Eda's getting married to someone who isn't you." Lilith explains, pointing at Raine at her last statement. 

Raine groans in anger. "Here's the thing, Lilith. Eda didn't want to be with this guy and now she does!" Luz explains. 

"Like, super suddenly." King adds. 

Lilith puts her finger on her chin. "Hmm, any theories?"

"We think she's being brainwashed." Luz suggests. 

"We should stop the wedding then! The fliers are about the wedding but for some reason no place and time?" Lilith states as she looks at the flier. 

"Well we better hurry!" Luz says as King goes on her shoulder. 

"Hooty should come. He could be of help. We need all the help we need." Lilith insists. 

"Hoot!! Let me be travel Hooty!" Luz and King make a disgusting face. 

"You might wanna leave for this..." Luz warns Raine. 

"I was gonna grab something anyway." Raine walk off. 

They walk towards the upstairs. They found an elixir and as they found an elixir, they then look up at the upstairs wall full of photos and they find one that caught their eyes. They grab the framed photo and observe it.

The photo being Eda and Raine as young adults, together at the snapdragon hill top where they use to go all the time, and it looks like a selfie photo as Eda has her head digged into Raine's neck as they both smile happily looking at the camera having blushed faces. Raine couldn't help but smile. 

"Eda loved you, greatly." Raine turns around to see Lilith. Raine looks down sadly as they put the photo down.

"She loved me but I'm the one who broke her heart. I broke up with her." Lilith walks up to them. 

"Why did you two break up?" Lilith asking a rather personal question. Raine looks down as their eyes couldn't face Lily's. 

"Eda... was hiding her curse from me. She wouldn't tell me anything about it, and when I asked about it, she would just ignore what I said or completely change the subject. Sometimes I felt like a brick wall... and it hurt me. I couldn't take it. It was like I didn't even know her anymore..." Raine spills their guts. They haven't told anyone that before. Well besides King. 

"Raine, the reason Edalyn had it that way was because... she hurt father because of her curse." Raine looks at Lilith with a concerned look; their arms still crossed and back a little hunched. 

"She was scared that she'd hurt you too... she felt so much guilt when she hurt him, she didn't want that to happen again with someone who she really loved dearly.." Raine could barely comprehend everything. 

Lilith walks off. "Lilith." Raine calls. She stops and looks back at Raine. "Thank you..." Lilith just smiles. 

"Don't get sentimental, wait until we get Eda back." Raine just smiles as the two walk back to the living room.

Luz, King, Lilith, Hooty, and Raine are all walking around town, the town not being very packed that day, only having very few witches around. 

"They could be anywhere. If the fliers don't have an address then why put up fliers?" Luz questions. 

"To mock you." A sudden voice says. They look behind them to see Darius, Eberwolf, Steve, Katya, Derwin, and Amber.

"Hey guys!" Steve happily greets. The group walks up to the other group. 

"What are you doing here?" Raine questions. 

"We're all free from work. And also because for some reason a lot of the towns around are empty." Steve explains. 

Darius shows a flier. "We think it might be this wedding that's happening." Darius says. 

"Yeah... it's Edas..." Raine replies, sadly. 

"We know. And we also know this isn't how she would be. Her, with someone that isn't you? Psh, nice try but, you can't even fool me." Darius states. 

Raine covers their red face. "Why is everyone assuming Eda and I would get publicly married like that?" Raine's complaint being muffled by their hands covering their face.

Luz gasp. "If you're free then you could help us!" Luz grabs Katya's hand.

"We got nothing else to do. So I don't really care." Darius replies. 

"I'm in!" Steve replies. 

Eber makes a little animal noise happily as Katya and the others agree as well.

"Alright, we got more people! Powerful people." Luz brags. 

"Make that an army!" Another sudden voice yells.

They all look in front of them to see Luz's friends and girlfriend - Amity, Willow, Gus and Hunter. 

"We saw the flier too. We thought this was a joke but, turns out it's true." Gus explains. 

"We actually know where the wedding is thanks to Hunter!" Willow says.

“Really?!" They all yell surprised. 

"Being a Golden Guard has its perks." Hunter brags. 

"Aren't you wanted?" Amity jokingly questions. 

"Yeah, well - I still get respected." Hunter defends. 

"So you'll all help?" King asks. Everyone agreed to it. 

Darius hits Raine's backs causing Raine's glasses to nearly fall off. "Of course we're helping. I'd feel bad about you being a lonely little nerd your whole life." 

Raine fixes their glasses as they reply with a monotoned voice. "Thanks..." 

"What I mean is... I saw how happy she made you. I wouldn't be able to sleep knowing I could of done something." Darius softly admits. 

This makes Raine smile. "Follow me, I know the exact place!" Hunter says. Everyone follows him.

The group of friends rush to the location of wedding, which is in a big place, however it doesn't look formal, which confuses all of them.

"This isn't a formal place where weddings occur. If anything, most weddings happen out doors." Darius retorts.

"In any case, we still gotta stop this wedding fast! Hunter, are sure this is the place?" Luz asks.

"Positive. The exact rumors and address to the wedding." Hunter states. 

Derwin and Amber help Katya to the top of a window. "Woah! There's so many people in there - like the entire boiling isles?!" Katya says shocked.

Raine felt shaky and nervous; they couldn't help but gulp. The entire boiling isles...?

Katya jumps off her friends and lands on her feet. "It's your go, leader. Open the door and we'll barge in!" Katya encourages. 

"And we'll fight by your side." Amber assures.

"And be behind you if anything happens!" Willow says as the kids agreed, ready to kick butt.

Raine nods at everyone and puts their hand on the handle. But they froze?

"Raine?" Lilith calls.

Raine has their hand on the handle, but they were shaking violently. They didn't open the door. "Raine! What are you waiting for?" Darius yells. 

Raine faces all of them with a nervous expression. "There's so many people in there..." Raine nervously says. Everyone face palms.

"Your stage fright is really something..." Darius says disappointed.

"Stage fright? Wait a minute, then this was planned!" Steve realizes. 

"What do you mean?" Lilith questions. 

"This was his plan. He knew Raine was terrified of crowds and used that to his advantage." Steve explains, he continues. "That's why he invited the entire isles, not just to taunt Raine but use as an advantage! Raine isn't just gonna barge in with that many people in there." 

Steve looks Raine. "No offense."

Raine puts their hand behind their head and scratches it with a smile. They chuckle. "Uh... I hate to admit it, but you're right."

Katya quickly climbs up to the window to see what's happening inside. 

"What makes no sense is why he married her so quickly. Only a couple days of dating and immediately goes to marriage!" Luz complains.

"And not just that, but also Eda just randomly agreeing to date this guy when she literally told us she wasn't gonna date anybody - that wasn't Raine at least." King adds. 

"If we don't get in there now it'll be too late!" Amity argues.

"But there's also guards in there - Coven Head guards!" Katya warns; peaking inside.

"Coven guards? What are they doing at a wedding?" Gus questions.

"Is Zack a coven member of some sorts?" Lilith questions.

Eberwolf makes an animal nose saying: "He can't be - we've never seen him before!"

"Maybe he's some kind of spy!" Hooty suggests.

"Uh guys, we don't have much time here - if we're gonna do something it must be now and if you don't have a plan make one now!" Katya eagerly demands.

Raine is pacing back and forth. "No no this is bad! I'm just out here panicking like an idiot!!"

"Raine, calm down!" Darius says.

"I can't calm down now! Eda's about to get married and I can't go inside cause I'm being a coward!" Raine harshly says.

"Raine, listen, you can do this. You just need a push of some kind to burst in!" King motivates.

Katya gasps. "It's time to kiss the bride!" 

Raine gasped as they felt their entire body take control and threw their entire body onto the door to burst it open. "Stop!" They screamed.

Everyone stopped what they were doing and quickly looked back to see Raine and everyone else behind them.

Katya falling to the background from being up high at the window but quickly gets up; dusting herself off. "I'm okay!" She says with a smile.

Eda raises an everyone. "Raine?" She questions quietly.

But Zack heard this and growls at them. 

The guards in the place quickly went towards everyone. King goes on Raine's shoulder. "Raine, head to Eda, we'll stop them!" Luz yells. 

Raine nods and runs to Eda, everyone quickly attacked back. 

Darius using his abominations to push back the guards, Eberwolf having bugs crawl across some of the other guards, Luz and her friends tackling guards who nearly catch'd Raine, and Lilith and Steve using glyphs to any who got nearly them or Raine.

Zack steps forward. "Why are you here, Whispers?"

Raine gets in his face. "I'm not here for you!"

"Raine." Edas call got Raine's attention. They look at Eda who's in a beautiful dress and they feel their face blush. "What's going on?"

Before Raine could respond — "They're stopping our wedding." Zack barges.

"I'm stopping it cause it's wrong!" Raine angrily states.

"Why is it wrong?" Eda questions.

Raine blurts it out. "Cause he doesn't love you!" 

Eda looked a little shocked by this, her gesture shows it but her eyes shows a different reaction. "W-What?" She stuttered.

"Wow, Whispers, ruining your best friends wedding? No wonder you weren't invited." Zack taunts.

"I don't know why he wants to marry you but he doesn't love you!" Raine argues.

"And what do you know about love?" Eda harshly responds.

"W-Well, I mean.. I.. I..." Raine became blushed and didn't know how to respond. Eda looked at Raine with realization. 

Zack chuckles. "Isn't that precious. Raine Whispers, the stage fright bard, is in love with the  owl lady - the strongest witch on the boiling isles?!" Zack laughs which even caused the guests to laugh.

Their friends looked around feeling Raine's embarrassment. That's when Eberwolf noticed something.

He goes to a person and sniffs them out. He continued to sniff more people when he realized that they smell different and their eyes looked... dead? Almost as if being controlled!

Eber quickly goes to Darius and explains what he realized. Darius seeing what Eber noticed, which means that Zack somehow is controlling everyone here - even the guards.

Raine felt embarrassed by the taunting laughter as their face became red. They look down causing their pointy ears to go down too.

"Raine..." they look at Eda. "Is this true?"

Before Raine could respond, Zack interrupts. "Now why should that matter?" Zack asks reaching for her hand.

Eda quickly pulls her hand back. "Because if they do love me... then at least it's for a reason!" Eda angrily says. 

Zack became scared but he covers that with an angry face. "Why are you marrying me?" Eda asks.

Zack didn't know how to reply. Raine walks up to Zack. "If you can't answer, then you should leave."

Zack then grabs the collar of Raine's shirt and pulls them close. "How so?"

Raine grabs Zack's hand. "We know what you've been using."

Zack's face became angered but terrified. All he could say was a whisper: "The drink?"

"You mean this?" Luz throws the metal bottle towards him as it rolls to his feet. Zack started to get more frustrated. "Don't think we didn't figure it out. You used a love potion."

"Love.. potion?" Eda whispers.

Darius grabs a drink next to the seat of the people. "And it seems that he's using a mind controlling drink for the guests here too." Darius states as he pours the liquid on the floor, dropping the cup and stomping on it.

"That's why Luz, Eda and I smelled a different drink. A love potion will smell like your favorite drink." King angrily says as he shows a paper for a recipe of a love potion.

"Why are you doing this? What's the point of all this?!" Raine angrily yells at Zack.

Zack became angered and throws Raine down. "Raine!" King worriedly yells as he runs up to them. 

Darius and the others were about to do something when Zack used a spell to put a knife against Raine's throat as he holds Eda and puts a blade next to her throat.

Everyone stood still and didn't move.

"You wanna know what I want? The cash prize! Dead or Alive, Owl Lady! And nothings going to stop me!" 

Suddenly King grabs onto Zack's face causing him to let go of the blade and the spell. Then Owlbert goes towards Raine and becomes a staff for them to use.

Zack grabs King roughly. "You little mutt!" He throws King out a window!

"KING!" Luz and Eda yells.

Raine then uses Eda's staff to quickly transport at Zack, they nearly hit him but he still stands like nothing happened. He grins at Raine evilly. 

Zack snaps his fingers causing a bunch of guards to run at Raine and Eda, grabbing them as they pull the two away.

"Raine!"

"Eda!"

They try to grab each other's hands but the guards pulled them back. Zack grabs a blade and points it at Eda.

The others tried helping but there was so many guards grabbing them, they felt hopeless to get through.

"Say goodbye, Owl Lady!" 

Suddenly, Kikimora's dragon bursts in through the building, everyone shocked to see this. The dragon roared as she eats Zack!

"Nobody move - or else you'll become dragon food!" King excitedly yells.

"King?" Is all Raine could say with a smile.

"I'm a Titan on the edge!" King warns. 

The guards let go and everyone steps back, suddenly, the guards fall to the ground; unconscious. The same thing happens to everyone else at the wedding except for Eda and Raine, and their friends. 

"THE KING OF DEMONS IS BACK! HA HA!" 

Raine felt someone shove them, so they turn around to see their bard friends: Katya, Amber, and Derwin. Gesturing them to go to Eda.

Raine looks at Eda nervously, slowly going up to them. 

All the guests and guards at the wedding slowly woke up, but quietly, meaning Eda and Raine didn't notice. That way, they can have their moment together.

"Eda?" 

She looks at Raine. "Raine?"

Raine couldn't help but smile. "Eda, there's something I wanted to tell you, but... this whole 'getting married to Zack' thing pushed it back... and I have to say it before it's too late.."

"What is it?" 

Raine gets closer to Eda. "I love you, Eda. There wasn't a day I didn't think of you."

Eda couldn't help but smile back with watery eyes. "I've loved you for years, Raine." Eda confesses.

She continues with a whole-hearted speech. "When we broke up, I felt so depressed. I didn't understand why we broke up, but all I knew was that I felt so... hopeless. Everything around me went black and all I was able to think about that day was, what our future would of been like if we were still together."

"I wondered the same thing." Raine admits. "I'm sorry... for breaking up with you all those years ago. When I think of my worst mistakes... I think of that day. And it's haunted me... for so long."

Eda looks down nervously. "I wouldn't mind... knowing what our future holds. Together."

Raine's face blushed. "So... if I asked you to marry me.. what would you say?" Raine asks.

Eda looks at Raine with a blushed face and a smile. "Yes. That's all I'd ever want."

Both Raine and Eda smile at each other as they say the final words. 

"I love you, Eda."

"I love you too, Raine."

The two then have a sweet kiss, both of them smiling happily while having their kiss.

Everyone couldn't help but "awww" at the sight.

Eberwolf looks at Darius, who's wiping away a tear. Eber makes a little soft animal noise. "I-I'm not crying." Darius defends.

Eber just has a soft smile as he presses his cheek against Darius's. 

That's when Eda started glowing! Golden sparkles and wind surrounding her causing her wedding dress and long hair to move with the wind, even Raine's short hair and clothing flowing with the magic wind. 

Suddenly, Eda steps back causing Raine to look at Eda shocked seeing her glowing, but their eyes glistened at the sight.

"What's happening?" Luz questions.

"Raine broke the love potion!" Hunter answers.

Soon enough, the love potion had finally worn off, causing Eda to fall the ground once she stopped glowing.

"Eda?"

Raine quickly went to Eda. They help her up. Eda still in her white dress and her long gray hair in a ponytail.

Eda held her head with a quiet groan.

But once she looked at Raine she couldn't help but smile with a chuckle. "Hi Rainestorm."

All Raine could do was chuckle as well, hugging Eda tightly as they kiss her again.

Luz wipes away a tear as she sniffles. "I knew this would be a happy ending!"

King quickly jumps off the dragon. He stands in between the two causing the kiss to break. He suggests with a happy tone: "Hey, how about you two get married - right here - right now!"

Raine looks at Eda. "What do you say?"

Eda raises an eyebrow. "What did I say earlier?" 

"That you'd marry me."

"Wait - let's fix this!" Luz quickly yells.

Luz quickly grabs Darius and Eberwolf having them behind Raine, Lilith and Hooty behind Eda, Steve makes two rings using his magic and gives it to King.

King quickly runs up to Luz as she's in between Raine and Eda; she's marrying them.

"Do you even know how to marry someone?" King asks.

"Nope!" Luz then whispers to King. "But that doesn't mean I've practiced what to say."

Luz and others wanting to make this quick, since they didn't know how long the emperors guards would stay to watch before realizing to arrest them.

They're all so distracted by the cute moment, but it could also be the fact that three coven heads and the golden guard is there too.

Luz picks up King who's holding the rings. He gives it to Eda and Raine.

"If you want to say something you can say it." Raine assures.

"You don't have to be formal about it, kiddo." Eda reassures too.

"Really?" King's tail wagged. "Okay then - as the king of demons, I command that the both of you put on your rings to connect the both of you for life!"

Raine and Eda put on each other's rings.

Luz says the monologue. "I would like for the both of you to look at each other, if you both love each other, through sickness and health, and want for the two of you to be married, then say 'I do'!"

Raine being the first to say it. "I do."

Eda replying with the same words. "I do."

"And now by the power invested by me, Luz the Human—"

"And the King of Demons!" King adds.

"We now pronounce you married!" Luz happily announces.

"Kiss the bride!" King yells.

With no hesitation the two immediately kiss each other with the most love and passion.

The entire place cheering with joy having flowers thrown in the air.

Luz and Amity embrace each other lovingly.

Willow taking Hunters pinky with hers, he reacted happily. Hunter then puts his other arm around Gus with brotherly affection.

Steve clapping and cheering, while Katya loudly whistles, with Amber hugging Derwin as she cries tears of joy.

Darius getting emotional with Eberwolf being just as emotional as him.

Hooty with teary eyes as Lilith nuzzles his face to make him smile. Lilith though, just as emotional.

And King not looking away at the sight of the newly weds.

Once the kiss was over, Raine nudges their head to the side to tell Eda that it's time for them to run down the isle.

Once they ran together, everyone else followed. 

The guests who were there to begin with cheering and clapping, even the guards.

"Wait a minute, you think we should of stopped that?" An emperors guard asks another guard.

The other guy just shrugs. 

.   .   . 

Luz screams out in happiness. "I have never been so happy!"

The group of friends with the newly weds had ran off somewhere far from the original wedding place in case the guards tried anything.

They don't know exactly where they are but it was a beautiful view. Being an open grassy area where you can see the sky and the sun ready to set.

Raine and Eda, happily holding each other's hands tightly. "Funny how you're so happy when it's my wedding day."

Luz hugs Eda with tears running down her face. "Oh Eda, I'm so happy for you!"

Eda snorts as she strokes Luz's hair. "Aww, thanks kiddo!"

"Hey, technically your wedding day isn't over!" Derwin states.

"Yeah, how about some music, so Raine and Eda can have their dance." Steve suggests.

Luz takes out her phone. "Don't worry, I got the music!" 

Luz turns on her phone, putting her volume on blast, and plays a playlist just for this occasion.

The first song playing being: Baby I'm Yours by Arctic Monkeys.

Luz takes Amity's hand and they both dance together.

Willow even grabbing Hunters hand and proceeds to teach him how to waltz.

Gus dancing on his own as he snaps his fingers to the song he seems to like.

Steve and Lilith having a friendly dance together as Hooty goes up to Darius but he refuses the dance offer from Hooty.

Eberwolf jumps off Darius's shoulder and towards King as they both decide to dance together.

Katya, Derwin, and Amber dancing amongst themselves. 

Raine takes their hand out for Eda, who's face turns red but happily grabs Raine's hand.

Raine pulls in Eda close. The two slightly sway and just hold each other tightly.

"Isn't this crazy?" Eda asks.

"What? That we're married?"

Eda nods. "It's so surreal."

"I bet it is."

"It's like I'm in one of my dreams..." Eda admits.

"Oh, so you've dreamt of this before?" 

Eda snorts with a flustered face. "Okay, I admit it... I've had this on my mind for years."

Raine puts their forehead onto Eda's. "I'm sorry you could of had a better wedding." Raine apologizes.

"Are you kidding? This wedding is the best! Better than my last one."

"Last one?" Raine questioned, but not angered or jealous, but rather curious.

She chuckles. "Yeah, it was only for a day, though. In the human realm, I stole his car and had a chase with the cops down in Vegas."

"And you're saying this was better?"

"Of course. Because I got to marry you."

Raine's heart fluttered hearing those words out of her mouth.

The song changes to Bad Habits by Ed Sheeran.

That's when King runs up to Raine and Eda. King and Eda hugging tightly, then King hugs Raine tightly after. 

"See? I told you Eda still loves you!" King brags.

Raine and Eda laugh. Raine pats King's back. "Thank you for everything, King."

King's expression became pure bliss as his tail wags. 

"I'm so happy my wish came true!" King happily says.

"Wish? What wish?" Eda asks.

"When Raine and I went to find you and Luz from dress shopping, I saw this fountain and Raine gave me a coin. And I wished for the both of you to have your happy ending!"

Raine and Eda look at each other with teary eyed smiles then they both give King a big squeeze. 

"You're really something, ya know that kiddo?" Eda asks.

"I am. I'm a proud Clawthorne-Whispers!"

The three of them look at the beautiful sun that's setting.

.  .  .

The next day. At The Owl House. 

Luz, King, Hooty, Eda, and Raine are all playing gold fish.

"Got any fives?" Hooty asks.

Raine smiles as they put the cards down. "I win!"

Luz and King happily celebrate. "Finally someone that isn't Hooty!" Luz cheers.

"What?! My streak!" Hooty says with disappointment.

"Good one, Rainestorm." Eda compliments; she gives Raine a peck on the cheek.

King points at Raine. "You may have won this game - but let's see if you could beat me at battleships!!" King yells.

"Oh yeah, let me get the game from my room!" 

Luz, King, and Hooty run towards her room.

Raine leans back on the couch putting their arm around Eda. "Rainestorm, are you sure about this?"

"About what?"

"All this? Ya know, me, the kids, my curse?" Eda nervously asks.

Raine then pins down Eda on the couch.

"Eda... I married you cause I want all of that. I don't care about your history, I love your kids, and your curse is nothing to be ashamed of. Remember: through sickness and health?"

Eda wraps her arms around Raine's neck. "How cheesy - you really are a dork."

This makes the two chuckle, but they also closed the gap between them with a kiss.

Eda and Raine would definitely say that moments like these are what truly make them happy.

Their moment however was interrupted by the two children and Hooty watching them.

"Awww!" The three said.

"What? I mean — ew kissing!" King says.

Eda pushes Raine off her playfully so her and Raine could sit back up. "Alright, let's get back to family game time."
