Work Text:
Zoro and Sanji bickering was nothing new, but lately something seemed different. Zoro seemed more irritable around Sanji and anything Sanji said seemed to set him off. Especially if I was around.
Today I was one of the first to finish eating lunch so I decided to help Sanji clean up the kitchen. While the rest of the crew continued their meals Sanji and I joked around in the kitchen. Everyone seemed to be in a good mood. But one thing led to another and Zoro and Sanji were arguing. Nami was the one to break it up and send Zoro out of the dining room.
After I was done in the kitchen I went to talk to Zoro in the crow’s nest. He was about to start a workout.
“Hey, is everything okay with you?” I asked.
“Yeah, why wouldn’t it be?” Zoro asked.
“You just seem to be fighting with Sanji a lot more lately,” I said. “Did anything happen between the two of you?”
“He just gets on my nerves. You know that,” Zoro said.
“He seems to get on your nerves a lot more when I’m around,” I said.
“What are you getting at?” Zoro asked.
“Well to me it seems like you’re jealous,” I said.
“Why would I be jealous?” Zoro asked.
“Because I’ve seen the way you look at me when you think I don’t notice,” I said.
He was quiet.
“I wanted to bring it up sooner but we don’t really get a lot of alone time and I didn’t want to put you on the spot even though I guess that’s what I’m doing now,” I said. “Sorry about that.”
“It’s okay,” Zoro said.
“Anyway, you should know that Sanji and I are just friends. Most of the time I think he just gives me extra attention because he knows it bothers you,” I said.
“I wouldn’t put it past him,” Zoro said.
“You shouldn’t let him get to you so much though. At least not when it comes to me. I don’t like him like that,” I said.
“You don’t?” Zoro asked.
“Nah. He’s nice and all but I’ve got my eye on a certain swordsman,” I said. “Anyway, I should let you get to your workout.”
I started to make my way out of the crow’s nest.
“Hey, you can’t just drop that on me and walk away,” Zoro said as he followed after me.
