Work Text:
Steve can't help it. He makes his way through New York every day and he takes notes of everything that's changed, every piece of his life that's gone, every piece of history that's been torn apart. He wishes he was history torn apart, instead he is history living on long after it should have died. They see him as a miracle. He thinks he should be a cautionary tale. The past haunts you. Every choice you make has the ability to haunt you. Steve wishes he could turn back time. He wishes he could save Bucky. And he can't, ever.
