Ugh. It was disgusting how highly the guy thought of himself.
”Just look at him, wearing that smirk, looking at everyone as if he knew they all want him but can’t have him.” Matty scoffed under his breath, casting narrowed glances at Tyler’s back, noting the way the perfectly tailored suit jacket cut in at the forward’s slim waist. His eyes trailed down the tapered charcoal pinstripe legs, ending with a freshly shined black loafer on each foot.
Damn him.
Matty himself was wearing his favorite purple suit, the one that made him feel just a bit more invincible on game days. Look good, feel good, play good. He took a deep breath and tried to clear his head.
The elevator stopped and everyone got out except him and Tyler. The forward took a few steps back so as not to be right against the doors. His hazel eyes caught Matty’s and for a second, both men stared and said nothing. Finally, Tyler broke the silence with a lopsided grin. “Mat. Shoulda known you were here, I smelled your cologne the instant I walked into the elevator.”
Disarmed, Matty chuckled nervously, running one hand through his hair and averting his gaze downwards. “Oh yeah? Hope it’s not that strong…”
“Not at all,” Tyler purred, drawing closer. “It’s… just… right…”
In one swift motion, Matty hooked his raised hand around the back of Tyler’s neck and covered his mouth with his own. Tyler simultaneously hit the operations switch on the elevator, immediately stopping them between floors. The two pawed at each other, a flurry of hungry kisses and heavy breathing, until the elevator telephone rang.
On the second ring, Tyler picked it up. “Hello?” His voice was as calm and smooth as a Saturday afternoon. Matty took the opportunity to straighten his dress shirt and re-button his suit jacket. He looked into the brushed elevator wall panel and fixed his hair.
“No, no… I just accidentally bumped into the switch. Everything’s fine,” Tyler flipped the operations switch back to ON and the elevator started with a jolt. “You too, have a good day.” He hung up and fixed his tie as the elevator doors opened.
Looking over his shoulder at Matty, he smirked. “See you after the game?”
Matty matched the smirk: “Sure.”
