It was late at night when Marshmallow lay down on the couch in boredom, watching the news with Rockstar and DJ. It has been an uneventful day and she is just hanging out with her band friends. She would spend time with her girlfriend, Macaron, but she is not in the city anymore and is really busy. As news stations cover pointless stories, she ponders about her childhood. She remembers her father being the sweetest guy out there. He was very supportive when she came out to him as trans. Her mother not so much. She and her father got into a lot of arguments, so when Marshmallow came out to them as transgender and her mother was transphobic towards her, it was the final nail in the coffin which led to them getting a divorce. Marshmallow blamed herself for causing the divorce and still to this day and feels like she was the cause despite her father reassuring her. Thankfully, her father got custody of Marshmallow. However, not her… brother…
That's when Marshmallow remembered, she had a brother. She sat up when she thought of him. It has been so long since they last saw each other. She couldn't even remember his name. Marshmallow wonders where he is and how he is doing? Does he even remember her? She knows her mother was cruel so she can't imagine what she has done to him. That's when the news changed to a program; Fashion Week's chosen model ran out naked!
That's a weird headline, but it definitely caught Marshmallow's attention. As the news played out she noticed in the corner of the screen the fashion designers, but one caught her eye. The short one with pink swirly hair and the fancy hat. She got a sense of familiarity by looking at him. Then the reporter spoke, "That was sure to be an unexpected chaotic mess, so how about we talk about the first unexpected collab in cookie fashion history! The collaboration between Romantic Sugar and Crown Punky. Let's start off with Romantic Sugar's side of the story."
Marshmallow faced her body towards the screen, eager to see if the cookie that caught her eye looked familiar. The video came up and showed the cookie, but in a better look. The reporter spoke, "Pastel Meringue Cookie, tell me, what made you decide to collaborate with Currant Cream Cookie?"
"Well, it was very unexpected and a bit last minute thanks to the floor collapsing on me, but we knew we couldn't finish our projects alone since our work had been destroyed in the process. We couldn't give up so we combined our ideas and made it work. I think it turned out stunning." He confidently told the reporter. Marshmallow then remembers something, at this point she needs to get to the bottom of this. She got up, grabbed her stuff, and headed out the door without saying anything to Rockstar or DJ, who sat there confused as hell.
"Uhh, is she okay?" Rockstar asks as he faces DJ. They shrug their shoulders, "I have no clue."
Marshmallow headed back home, she needed confirmation that Pastel Meringue was her brother. It would be weird to tell someone that might not know you that you are their sister without any proof. Once she got inside her apartment, she looked under her bed to see a couple of boxes; one labeled as "do not forget". Ironic seeing how she forgot about it until now. She opened the box to see some stuff from her childhood, but she was looking for a photo. She remembered when she was moving out of her father's house there were a few photos that she packed up; some of them were given to her by her father. Maybe, just maybe… It was an old family photo before her parents got divorced.
Once she got to the bottom of the box, she found something even better. Marshmallow gazed at a photo of her and Pastel Meringue taking a silly photo together. The two were covered in mud and were play-fighting. It was so sweet that she couldn't help but shed a tear. This was before she realized she was transgender, so the photo was of her time as a boy, but she didn't mind at all since Marshmallow feels more comfortable with her body now. Not to mention, they were so happy together when they were younger. Marshmallow then remembers all the silly stuff they did as kids. She always teased her younger brother, but always made up at the end. The two were inseparable. Then, Marshmallow felt tears pouring down even more when she thought of how they got separated because of the divorce. Pastel Meringue was stuck with his mother, and Marshmallow was with her father and they were the ones moving. She remembers seeing Pastel Meringue waving goodbye to Marshmallow as the car drove off and that was the last time he saw him. It really was bitter. She worried about what her mother did to him, knowing her, she probably messed him up.
Marshmallow wiped her tears before getting up. It was about time to reignite that sibling bond again. She remembered that brand that Pastel Meringue had and looked it up on her phone. She looked at the location and it was not far from the band room she plays at. Tomorrow afternoon, she planned to meet up with him after band practice, so she can finally see her brother again.
