Chapter Text

Within a place on the 12th floor of a high-rise apartment, a pale man no older than his thirties enters inside.
His tall athletic frame makes him appear imposing to most yet his face, long eyelashes, and dull teal eyes also makes him appear as gentle looking that most would compare him to a doll.
In contrast to his face, his appearance appears to be disheveled—his short taupe hair had a white streak and seemed messy as the slight stains on his dark dress pants and Oxford shoes. The long dull white coat is hanging over his right shoulder while the collar of his vanilla white dress shirt and striped blue tie is loosened ever so slightly.

Right when he walked inside, he closed the front doors behind him and removed his shoes out slowly and steadily. As he walked much further, he led himself into one room within the flat while he quickly removed that coat off himself. As he got the coat off his back, he carefully threw it over that darkly colored chair that’s close to a desk near a bed.

Evan W. Lyel certainly had a long day.

Evan laid front down on a bed covered all in white and blue. As he felt the soft warmth of one pillow and that striped blue-white blanket against his entire body, a sigh was let out from his lips. He moves onto his right side, where he spots a pendant belonging to that necklace he always hidden in his attire right in front of his eyes—that silver pendant with a blue-colored spider lily flower beautifully engraved on it.

Evan couldn’t help picking up the pendent into his hands, holding it so carefully with his fingers. The longer he looked at it, the ghostly image of a pale woman with long wavy brown hair and purple eyes from dusty photographs appeared in his mind. At the very image of her, he let out a snicker with a bittersweet smile on his lips.

“Ah, the humble grave symbol that reminds me greatly of half the cursed blood I share within my senses since birth,” Evan started to murmur grimly in his thick and rough voice as he thought out loud to himself. The image of the woman changes into a middle-aged couple - once a pair- a woman with long black hair and a man with short wavy auburn hair. Evan let out a sigh as he gingerly turned the pendant around in his fingers.

“No matter of the fact that my mother and her clan had severed the ties with her for all the instability she brought to us and other shamen...” Evan paused as he thought things over. He frowned as he hid away the pendant in his shirt.

”All the effort to erase her existence and all their blabberin', I can’t seem to keep anything from her lineage completely away. What else could a shaman do with such power and technique instead of bringing those lost souls to rest at any day? All to prevent hell to goin' loose for a single day?” Evan shrugged as he finished his words with a bittersweet sense of responsiblity in his tone as he remembered the duty he has taken back.

Evan’s expression softened as he dug his head further into a pillow. After everything he had done and been through the day earlier, Evan finally let himself close his eyes shut as he succumbed to the comfort of the bed. For once, he actually will let himself sleep. If any spirits of the past and present don’t haunt him this time nor his own soul would try to leave his body.

As many things raced through his mind as he kept his eyes closed.

While he had the nagging voice of his mother who would normally scutinizes him for anything, especically for the things he chose to do for himself now, another voice cuts in before she could criticize him. A soundless voice is heard in his mind, showing the image of a familiar tall woman he knows so well, like it’s something part of his consciousness. Her low velvety voice that brings his sense in a confused frenzy and tremble down his bones... Yet enough for such warmth, especially her eyes akin the golden rays of the Sun.

Even though it hasn't been too long since they had last hung out, the words she has spoke to him all sounded incoherent as his mind couldn't exactly remember. Before he could even think clearly, it already went all black in Evan’s eyes.
