Chapter Text

In this world, people at birth receive a spirit animal that is a representation of their soulmate. They usually appear at the time of someone's birth and usually keep their person company until they die. In the case of Takemichi, since he was born he has been accompanied by a huge black cat quite wild and loyal that follows him everywhere, protecting him from any evil that finds him, such as gang members or boys who try to talk to him.

As just happened when a boy has approached him to ask him something, Neko has growled and jumped with his nails unsheathed to stick them in the face of the boy, who has fled as quickly as possible from the cat.

—You can't scratch the faces of every person who talks to me. —Takemichi mutters picking Neko up to have him face to face. The human rolls his eyes, exasperated, to see that his spirit animal seems amused by the chaos it generates. —You are a very wild kitten, at least pretend to be sorry.

Neko meows heavily, as if refusing to accept the blame for anything. Takemichi snorts and lets him climb on his shoulder to continue walking towards the convivial shop where he plans to buy something for dinner.

Takemichi sighs at the thought of his spirit animal, often forgetting that it represents his soulmate, so there must be an equally wild person, beast and lover of beating others loose through the streets of Tokyo.

Many times, Takemichi loses sight of Neko for hours, and when he returns, he seems to have blood on his paws. Once, it even seemed to have soot and ashes between its claws. So always avoid thinking about whatever Neko is doing when he goes for a walk alone in the neighborhood.

Neko's meow makes him look up from the ground and he stares at a couple of guys at the door of the store, sharing some yakisoba. What catches the attention of Neko and then Takemichi, are his spirit animals, the blond looks like a small tiger with blond fur and black stripes, but the other, the one with long dark hair, is a blond corgi, with huge blue eyes, reminding him of someone.

Takemichi does not usually run away, but right now he does not hesitate to grab Neko well before turning around and running back to his house without thinking about buying some food, he can come back later, when he stops feeling something strange go inside himself when he sees that black-haired boy.

Neko meows loudly, showing his displeasure at the way Takemichi is being grabbed and the way Takemichi is fleeing the store. Takemichi ignores Neko's screaming meows until he reaches his house, where he leaves him on the floor and collapses against the door.

That boy was his soulmate.
