Jules and Verne suggest Doc go to the "father-son Big Mouth Bass-Off" competition, which is a fishing contest. Doc freaks out and refuses to go. The two kids investigate their fathers' strange behaviors' origins. Well, turns out he has a lifelong phobia of water and more specifically fish general after an accident while visiting his uncle.
So, the 2 kids go back in time, to prevent it, and of course Marty tags along with them. After all, someone must look after them.
August 5th. 1926.
A little kid whose name happens to be Emmett is staying at "oddball" Uncle Oliver's place during the summer. Why the uncle's name is Oddball? No one exactly knows, nonetheless, his nephew was fishing at a mini cliff at the river when Emmett randomly saw an older teen. What looks to have a red vest? The teen grabbed the fishing rod out of the kid's hands just in time when a fish dragged the rod back. The teen fell in and saw fishes that could easily devour a 5-year-old.
2 other kids ran up out of the blue and helped the teen get out of the river. Turns out the teen's name is Marty. And 2 other kids' names are Jules and Verne. Jules is slightly older and Verne couldn't possibly be older than Emmett.
For hours they talked. Emmett couldn't care less about where they're from or who they are, he finally has friends! Weirdly, Verne was pretty similar to Emmett's appearance wise but he didn't pay mind to that. They decided to play hide and seek and let Marty count since he's the oldest.
Marty scoffed, but he had no choice but to count.
All 3 hid. Verne ran to the porch of a house and crouched. Emmett hid in a tree and Jules ran to hide in another tree. While he is not much of a climber, he held onto the branches for dear life.
Verne on other hand noticed a car drive into a driveway and a tall guy, with a mustache, glasses, and ginger hair ran out and looked around for someone, then looked down at Verne, squinted his eyes, and under his breath with a heavy German accent mumbles "Thank God". The next thing Verne knows he's being led to a car, it was all too sudden for him to question. In the driver's seat sat a bit shorter man, still ginger but his hair was graying at the roots he looked at Verne with disgust but didn't say anything, the kid got into the car to not annoy the man more. Not like he had a choice. Then Verne heard a short dialogue between the 2 and a few things are clear. The two men are brothers. The shorter one's name is Erhardt.
Oliver the taller one stood back on the porch and waved as the car drove away he thought he was now alone so he let out a sort of disappointed sigh. The man did not notice three kids beside him. He looked at the kids and turned pale.
"Neffe?! Liebchen! Why- how are you still here?! Who did I just send away?!" Oliver screamed. Who did he just send away?!
Emmett just shrugged and Jules and Marty looked at each other.
"That's my goddamn sibling in that car!" Jules exclaimed, even if Verne Is adopted (what Jules thinks) he still is his brother. Of course, he will be scared for his safety in a stranger's car.
"They might return when Erhardt realizes he took the wrong kid..." Oliver sighed and sat down on the porch. All three kids sat beside Him. Emmett seemed to be the only not bothered one, he seemed happy to not go home yet.
With Verne the drive was long and uncomfortable, he didn't dare to ask if they were there yet. The driver didn't seem in the best mood, nor did he know what a smile is. Even when Verne annoyed Doc to death with the "Are we there yet" question, it was still better than this.
Finally, they arrived at the residence. The same one that is destined to burn Down. They both entered.
"Go to your room or something," Erhardt scoffed and headed to the living room. Verne went upstairs as he heard 2 people talking, a man and a woman.
Verne went to the only room with opened door and when he entered he saw that the door was in the middle of a wall, a bed in a corner with one stuffed animal and a box with "Newton" written on It. Verne cautiously looked inside and saw a rat. A rat that lived in houses. The kid looked around the room, and the hallway and instantly got a feeling of... Dread. Verne's attention turned back to the room when he saw a lot of metal pieces and books scattered on the floor.
Evening came. And how Verne understood the woman was Emmett's mother, she called him for dinner. He walked downstairs with a tidy bit of fear even if he did not want to admit it, he is scared. Verne hasn't met any of his grandparents, so this might be the first impression, even if they don't know it yet. Well, with that said he went to the kitchen. The said woman set the plates down and looked at Verne, then tried looking behind him.
"Who's that kid? Where's Emmett?" the woman asked.
"This is Emmett. You need glasses Sarah" Erhardt said reading the newspaper and not taking his eyes away.
"No, he's not. I can see that from walking Manners, hair color, and eyes. EDHARDT DID YOU TAKE THE WRONG KID?!" Sarah screamed at Erhardt raising her hand.
"How the hell should I know which one is your kid?! They both are blond so what is the difference!"
Sarah didn't say anything for fear of cussing her husband out in front of a child. So she dropped her hand and guided Verne to the car who was distraught, to say the least.
"Kid, sorry for the stress, but where did he pick you up from," Sarah asked Verne.
"Well there was a funny-looking tall guy he looked odd" Verne laughed a bit.
"I'll kill- ill talk to Oliver" Sarah quickly corrected herself with a smile that one could describe of an insane, protective mother and drove fast back to Oliver's place.
While on the road, Verne asked: "Did I make a good first impression?" Sarah tilted her head to one side another focusing on the road and answered simply "We can say so"
Oliver and 3 kids still sat on the porch when it got dark no less worried, after all, Oliver was nearly ripping his hair out. Emmett excitedly stood up when he saw a car speeding at them as his face lit up.
A taller blonde woman got out of the driver's seat and looked very pissed, to say the least, and walked to Oliver who was freaking out.
"Hey, Sarah! My sister-in-law!" oddball Oliver said nervously.
"How the hell did you let your dumbass brother take the wrong kid?!" she pointed at Verne who was surprisingly calm.
"See... I couldn't tell the difference either-" Before Oddball can finish saying he felt death glaring.
Jules nearly ran to Verne, after hugging him he mumbled:
"I see the resemblance now. But by all my knowledge you're still adopted" Verne stared at him blankly and then got annoyed, but the annoyance quickly faded, and after a while decided to comment:
"Well... That Sarah woman has short temper." all 3 looked at the pretty small family for one last time, the only unbothered person being Emmett. Both kids and the teen went to the DeLorean to go back to the future, hoping to know more about the part of the family from their fathers a bit more.
