Hurricane's eye

Summary:

"An invisible wall? Like the shields you can create?"

Jeongin turned his head a little, just to see the back of Felix's head properly - it was a little painful to try and look at him only with his right eye above the bridge of his own nose.

"Yes, like that." Again, he didn't know if he could elaborate or not. If it would be a distraction for Felix or if Felix was interested at all in knowing the minute differences between the feeling in his mechanical arm and the feeling of his shields.

There was a bit of silence, Felix busy rummaging in his tools. Jeongin was staring at the ceiling again.

Notes:

Hi! It's my first time writing for Stray Kids >< Since I'm working a rather long-ish au, I thought it'd be nice to post small scenes here and there that belong to this au without them being necessary to the main plot. It's a two parts for this specific vignette so I hope you enjoy :3

Chapter Text

"Tell me if it hurts."

Felix's voice sounded surprisingly calm. Without his eye scan, Jeongin couldn't really tell if it really was the case or if it was just a facade. "Most likely a disconnected wire" Felix had said, judging Jeongin's arm to be in a worse state, taking priority in order of repairs. To which Jeongin would agree as it was dangling from the table mere moments ago, only holding on by a couple of cables and shreds of synthetic skin.

"It never hurts." Jeongin provided, his valid eye staring at the ceiling. "Or not as bad as it looks."

"Really?"

Jeongin simply hummed in response. He didn’t know if it was okay to elaborate on the topic or not.

"Do you feel anything tho?" Felix had turned around to look at the array of tools on the small rolling table behind him. "I mean, in your arm."

"I only feel the flow of electricity where everything still functions. Otherwise, there's nothing, just the flow bumping against an invisible wall."

"What’s bopping though?" Felix appeared closer, right above his face. "I'm gonna do your eye first, it'll be easier if you can scan the damage instead of just me, y'know, stabbing in the dark." Felix shrugged with an apologetic smile.

"No problem." Jeongin didn't mind. "It's bumping" he corrected. "Like when a cat head bumps you."

"I've never seen a cat - aside from pictures in a book - so I don't know what you're referring to."

Felix was still focused on his repair job, but he made an apologetic pout, chuckled a little with a small shrug. That, Jeongin knew to be Felix trying to hide his embarrassment, he remembered what the data said. Felix and Jisung were so fierce that sometimes, Jeongin forgot they were the last two to escape their Factory. They felt familiar even though it had only been a couple of months since they integrated the pack. It made Jeongin realize that almost a year went by since he and Seungmin also freed themselves and found the pack.

"I'll show you. When you're done."

Felix beamed at him. "For real?!"

Jeongin smiled back "Hm, for real."
