Work Text:
12:55AM.
you silently stared at the clock that was placed above home’s walls, pursing your lips as you glance at the sleeping puppet.
it took an hour and 11 minutes for him to finally fall asleep.
you suck in air as you hesitantly removes the bed covers, stopping for a bit to sneak a glance at the puppet.
still sleeping.
you licked your dry lips as you slowly got up from the bed, walking to the door that was blocking your exit. you looked behind, making sure that wally is still sleeping.
you were greeted with his form still as ever, letting out a breath of relief. you turned around, opening the door.
now this was the tricky part.
you squint against the darkness that covered the once dimly lit hallway, pursing your lips.
now isn’t the time to be afraid.
you took a deep breath in and walked towards the dark hallway, praying you don’t wake up home or wally.
you blindly continue walking, squinting as you spot home’s windows that were showing the moons dim light.
bingo!
you carefully but hurriedly walk closer to home’s door handle, a smile growing on your lips. you twisted the knob, getting ready to hear the familiar ‘click!’.
your smile fell as the knob didn’t move, indicating that it was locked.
creeak.
your blood grew cold as you heard the floorboard creak, knowing all too well who’s behind you.
humming was heard behind you as you didn’t move, shutting your eyes as your hold on the knob was turning your knuckles white.
“how unneighborly of you, friend.” wally scolds, his voice void of emotion as you can feel his unnerving stare.
“leaving so soon? and without tellin’ us?” he scold, disappointment hugging his words as he walked closer to you.
you could feel his eyes drilling holes into you.
“we’re both disappointed in you, friend! sneaking out like that in the middle of the night, what if you got hurt?” he mused, his eyes watching your every movement as you pursed your lips.
“i.. wanted to get some water..” you said, putting on your best smile.
please buy the bait..
“really?” he mused, his smile quite not reaching his face, eyes boring into you.
you swiftly nodded, turning your back towards the door. “r-really!”
“hm? is that so?” he hums, titling his head as he crossed his arms, tapping his cheek with his index finger.
you quickly nodded, shuffling closer to the door as to hide your hand on the knob from the puppet’s view.
“that’s a silly thing to lie about, [name]” he says, his tone void of any remaining emotion it had, closing his eyes before reopening them.
the air suddenly feels stuffy and sticky, making you shift between your two feet.
“i.. wouldn’t lie to you” you said, a bit too fast. a bit too rushed that made the puppet smile faltered, or, at least it looked like it did.
you weren’t sure now.
home creaks, it’s floorboard moving a bit as wally nodded to whatever their dear neighbor said. “hm.. you’re right, home.” he begins, walking towards you as you pressed yourself against the door.
“let’s return to bed, dearest.” he says, taking your hand and practically dragging you back to the bedroom.
you were definitely not going to leave his side after that failed attempt to escape.
