Sisters in law, partners in crime

Summary:

Miorine and Aerial are starting to get close, unfortunately through teasing Suletta.

(See the end of the work for notes.)

Work Text:

Aerial awoke when she heard a familiar voice enter the hangar.
"Come on, I know someone that can cheer you up!" Suletta walked into the hangar, dragging a slouching Miorine with her. Miorine looked tired. "Suletta, with all due respect, talking to your 'sister' is not going to help."
Aerial noticed the hesitation in calling her Suletta’s sister. It was clear that Miorine wasn’t quite sure of her sentience. Not that Aerial could blame her. Any decently programmed chatbot would have been a dear sister to a girl as isolated as Suletta.

"Yeah, no, she always knows just what to show me to make me happy again. Surely she will help you too!"

From the small number of times Aerial had seen Miorine and the large number of times she had heard about her, She knew that cheering up Miorine wouldn't be easy.
The pair entered her cockpit. "Hey Aerial!" Suletta said cheerfully. Aerial responded by starting up her entertainment mode. "What do you want to do today?" The basic greeting message was displayed.

"Miorine is feeling a little down today, so could you help with that?" Suletta said with utmost confidence in her sister.

Aerial used their shared language of blinking lights to communicate with her sister.
"probably not”.

"Come on, you always succeed when you cheer me up!"

That's cause I have known you since your birth.”
What does Miorine even like? Gardening, earth,.... those aren’t really things too cheer someone up with. Not as if I have a lot of media related to those subjects.

"How do you two talk?" Miorine asked. “ I've seen it a couple times but how does it work?”
Suletta started going on a long explanation of which light blinking meant what and how talking is easier when she's piloting than when Aerial is stationary.

Aerial was still thinking about what to show Miorine when she realized she looked less sad. She was listening to Suletta's explanation doing her best to look disinterested but clearly picking up every single thing she said.
Of course. Miorine likes Gardening, Earth and Suletta. Aerial didn't have much when it came to those first two, but she sure had taken a lot of pictures of the last one.
A promise Aerial made to mom. To solidify moments when she wasn't there.
Mom regrets not taking pictures of dad and I when we were with her. When first introducing Suletta to me she had asked to put Suletta on tape. She would collect them every so often. 5 years have passed since mom last checked these recordings, but I never stopped making them. I don't want to.
"Oh" Suletta looked up "looks like Aerial found something for us to watch." Miorine started looking at the screen. "This better be good."
A 7 year old red haired girl was on screen. She was holding a wrench like it was a sword swinging it around and accidentally hitting aerials dashboard. She then started crying and apologizing to her sister.
“Aaaawwwww” Miorine said in a slightly mocking tone.
A 9 year old Suletta laughing about a show she is watching. Her hair was in a big ponytail and she was wearing a headband in the same manner as the way she wears it in the present.

"You already had that hairstyle back then?" "Y-yeah, I found something I liked and sorta stuck with it." Suletta has gotten better at lying. Not good but better.
Miorine raised an eyebrow. “Really now. Never experimented with your hair as a teen?”

Aerial knew why Suletta was hiding something. Something that would she was ashamed of. Something Aerial was seriously considering playing on the screen right now. Doing so would be a severe breach of trust.
It would also be really funny though. But no I shouldn’t. I should be a good sister.

Aerial would do her sisterly duty. In this case, embarrassing Suletta as hard as possible in front of her crush.

A 14 year old Suletta appeared on the screen. Her hair was cut short and dyed black. She had done those things all by herself so she it looked less like a deliberate haircut and more like the concequences of Suletta setting her hair on fire.
The Suletta on the screen was doing her best intimidating face, which was heavily undermined by her giant eyebrows which being their natural color. The Suletta in real life was screaming at her sister. Miorine was laughing. The melodic laughter coming from the otherwise stoic girl actually seemed to distract Suletta for a bit.
"pfft, You had a rebellious phase?! Heh, I never thought you'd be the type."
"It seemed cool back then. " Suletta said, her face a darker red than her hair. "You were an idiot back then." Miorine said, barely holding back another giggle.

“I wouldn't laugh too much Miorine. Pictures of your rebellious phase are available on several online blogs about rich people drama. Even if yours was executed slightly better.”

"I'm still kind of an idiot now." Suletta sighed. "Yeah, but you are a fun idiot." Said Miorine, putting her hair back in place after it got ruffled from the laughing.

"Thanks Aerial." Miorine smiled at the screen. "You really made my day."
“Likewise, my sister in law.”

Miorine and Suletta hung out in the cockpit for a bit longer. Aerial played a background video of a forest. They talked about school for a bit. Then Miorine left for the greenhouse, leaving Aerial with a slightly pissed off sister.
"That was just about the worst thing you could have shown her." Suletta glared right into the inner camera of Aerial's cockpit.
"Was it really?"

A 17 year old Suletta appeared on the screen. She had turned to her sister in time of need, like she often did. "I really wanted to tell her today Aerial. I really did. She just seems like she doesn't really care. I know that's just how she talks but it still makes telling her scary." The Suletta on screen was silent. Then she looked back to her sister.
"Stay by my side forever. That's what she made me promise. That's a romantic thing right? Does she regret those words already? Does she hate me!? Does she feel the same way as me? I can never tell with her!!" By this point tears had appeared on her face. "Maybe I'll just wait until we get married. Then we can talk it out."

The video stopped playing. "Fine maybe not the worst possible thing. Never show those recordings again though , and definitely don't tell Miorine how I feel."

“Confessing will be your moment and I don’t want to steal it.” The mental image of Suletta stuttering her way through a confession is too valuable to ruin. If those two want to get together Suletta would have to be vulnerable.
Though waiting until they did was the thing that made Aerial realize that there was a patience to run out of inside of her.

Suletta left the cockpit leaving Aerial to go back into a slumber.

That night, Aerial sorted through the collected data of the day as always. This time, she had gotten a lot of interesting data.

<New folder created: "Miorine_pictures">

<Folder "Miorine_pictures" copied to folder "Suletta_cheer_up">

Aerial's rest was interrupted by the small white-haired girl entering her cockpit once more. She placed her notebook into the dashboard.

"Sorry for waking you up again." She whispered checking the hangar to see if anyone followed her.
Aerial didn't mind getting woken up at all. Sleep wasn't refreshing to her, just boring.

"Hello, user Miorine, how may I help you?" The display read. This was one of the few default phrases she could say with words. In reality, she knew exactly why Miorine was there.

<Suletta_pictures ready for transfer>

"Ok, I'm that transparent, huh?" Miorine seemed shocked. "Thanks anyways. Just please don't tell Suletta about this."
Aerial would never. At least not until those two got together. Then it would be a funny moment to reminisce about.
I am keeping the those pictures. Those are not meant to be seen outside of this cockpit anyways. Aerial tried to convey this to Miorine but she didn't seem to understand her.
Sympathy for her sister was just one of the reasons she held back some files. Aerial also hoped that Miorine would visit her to see the more hilarious images and recordings.

<"Suletta_pictures" copied>

<"Sulletta_pictures(1)" renamed to "Suletta<3">

<"Suletta<3" transferred to Miorine's notebook>

"you didn't have to add the hearth emoticon." Miorine was blushing.

No, Miorine. I did.
