Chapter Text
After Imzadi
Prologue
Admiral Riker looked to Commodore Data as Mary Mac came over to let them know that their ship was ready for them. “It’s the Titan, under Captain Shaw,” she informed them. “I’m afraid that’s all I know. What they know of what’s happened here,” she shrugged. “Good luck gentlemen. And Admiral, please accept my apologies. We will be reviewing our security protocols so something like this doesn’t happen again.”
Will only nodded slightly and then inclined his head to Data: “ready to discovery our new world?” he asked. The android cocked his head to the side as if thinking about his answer: “as one would say. Shall we get the hell out of here?”
Will laughed as they were beamed aboard the Titan. He stared confused for a moment as they were being greeted by a woman, who had clearly been assimilated by the Borg. “Gentlemen, Captain Shaw sends his regards but he was unable to leave the bridge. I am Seven, the First Officer,” she informed them breezily as they stepped off the transporter pad.
Will frowned slightly as he looked over at Data. “No. No difference detected,” he said as he deduced what Will was thinking.
“It can take a while, or so that is what I’ve been told. There has been little investigation into the changing of timelines,” Seven informed them quietly as they exited the transporter room. “And no, what has happened is not common knowledge. Admiral Janeway has been apprised of the situation and when she found out that we were the ship closest to your perceived location informed me as to the situation at hand. Apparently, I have the security clearance to be allowed in on this—” she paused looking for the correct word: “phenomenon.”
“And precisely what phenomenon is that?” Riker wondered.
“Why the two of you would have disappeared from your respective commands with no warning approximately a week ago,” she replied as she led them through the hall. “Because the original incident was listed in Admiral Picard’s captain’s log--- although redacted--- Admiral Janeway was able to be pointed in the right direction with help from your wife, Admiral.”
“My wife?”
“Your logs with all the pertinent information are ready for access in your quarters,” she replied as they stepped onto the turbolift.
“New and different, correct Sir?” Data asked him.
“Apparently,” he muttered as they exited. His mind spinning, but the one thing he held onto was the returned whisper of Imzadi.
