Little Witchlet

It’s all over.

Belos is defeated.

The Hexsquad decides to look for Luz.

A strange glow attracts their attention.

With a teleportation glyph, Gus teleports everyone to the source of the glow.

They see Luz, now in her Titan form, confronting Phillip Wittebane for the last time.

Phillip begs Luz to save him, but everyone ignores him. Camilla is disgusted and furious at the sight of the monstrous green goop who had tried to manipulate Luz all those months ago. Her daughter nearly died because of the wretched bigoted shadow of a former man. The Collector has a similar disgusted expression on his face. Hunter is silent.

The monster who killed Flapjack is now reduced to a rotten pile of flesh.

“You wretched traitor! How could you stab me in the back?!” Phillip’s guttural voice grates Hunter’s ears. Hunter covers his ears in denial and anger. After everything that happened, Phillip still blames him for the misery he brought upon himself.

He wishes that Flapjack is on his side.

“No. He didn’t. You are,”

A specter of a ragged-looking man appears in front of everyone. That man greatly resembles Hunter in many ways, except for the tooth gap and undernourished appearance. A woman who greatly resembles Eda stands beside him.

“Is that…” Gus’ voice is low and unsure.

“Caleb Wittebane,” Amity confirms everyone’s suspicion.

“That’s great-great-great-great granny Evelyn.” “You know her, Eda?” Raine asks, “I don’t know much about her story, but Mom told me and Lilith that she was widowed when she got pregnant. Her husband died not long after they got married. Dad kept an old painting of Granny Evelyn,”

“Caleb! I did this for you! I tried to save your soul! That wretched witch brainwashed you!” Phillip points out what remained of his finger towards Evelyn.

“Wretched?” Caleb’s cold tone echoes.

“You are the wretched one. You didn’t let me live a happy life with my wife. Thanks to you, my wife had to live as a widow. My child had to grow up in hiding without their father. You also manipulated an innocent child who wanted nothing but someone who loved him to assist your genocide plan. You demand nothing but total loyalty from the people around you. You never uphold any bargain you made. You want nothing but slavish loyalty. You created copies of me to lash out with your anger and frustration. You didn’t want them to become their own person. You have no idea how many times Flapjack had to see their demise. Dozens, hundreds, thousands of witches died because of you. All was just to fulfill your childhood delusions. You never grew up, Phillip. Not at all. I’m no longer your brother. You had lost that right on the day you killed me,” Caleb punctuates his words as he jabs Phillip’s melting skull.

Phillip roars, “You traitors!” He lunges toward Luz and the Clawthorne couple. Suddenly, arms begin to grab Phillip from behind. Those arms belong to the previous Golden Guards and numerous witches whom Phillip killed in the past. “It’s time to give you your just desserts, Phillip Wittebane,” Evelyn finally speaks. As Phillip struggles against restraints, he tries to shape his arms into sickles, to no avail, as his body continues to rot. “Help! Help!” he screams in horror as everyone only stands there, unsure what to do. The hands take Phillip’s body apart, “P-please tell me. Where will they take me?” Phillip begs Evelyn. “Who knows?” Evelyn shrugs nonchalantly, “However, I’m sure you’ll never be able to rest in peace,”

The black abyss swallows Phillip’s scream.

Caleb and Evelyn then shift their glance at Hunter. The boy winces as he steps backward slowly, “It’s okay. We’re not mad at you,” Evelyn smiles gently as she reaches out to Hunter. Hunter hesitates, but he takes Evelyn’s hand at Camilla's nod.

Caleb and Evelyn hug Hunter tight, Hunter is surprised, but he returns the hug, “You did well, witchlet. You did well,” Caleb wipes away Hunter’s tears. For the first time since the Day of Unity, Hunter breathes with ease.

It will be a heartwarming moment if it’s not because of Gus.

“So Belos is the distant relative of Eda and Lilith?!” Cue face fault from everyone else, “Mood killer,” Willow grouses. “Actually, that’s what I’m going to say,” Raine chuckles sheepishly. “Reminds me of a manga series we read back in the human realm. What was it again?” Gus asks. Amity smacks Gus’ head, “Read the mood, idiot!” “That hurts!” Gus complains. Luz laughs at her friends’ antics as the rain stops, “It’s Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure. Well, Gus has a point, you know,” she answered.

The tale of two brothers whose fates become intertwined with a mask.

It’s not unlike Caleb and Phillip’s story. Caleb carved Phillip’s wooden mask, which became the base of his emperor mask. Phillip killed Caleb, leaving Evelyn as a widow who raised her child alone. A child who was born through inhuman means. Phillip’s demise was in the hands of a witch he sought to eradicate. Phillip gets dragged to hell by his past victims.

Caleb and Evelyn smile as they depart from the mortal world, “Flapjack said hi. Live your life well, son. And thank you, Luz Noceda,” Caleb says as he and Evelyn fade away. Hunter smiles as he wipes his tears, “I will!”

And with that, Caleb and Evelyn Clawthorne gain closure after 400 years.

“Man, what a bizarre adventure!” King declares as he clings to Luz, “A bizarre one indeed,” Luz chuckles. Everyone joins Luz in laughing. “Say, I want to know about the human realm!” the Collector giggles, “We’ll tell you, son. But first, let’s clean the mess, shall we?” Camilla smiles.

A new era has begun.
