It never seemed to end
Life always seemed to go on for ruby even when tragedy strikes
Sometimes she hoped it didn’t
She’d lost a friend, someone she considered family….maybe even something more.
But she never had time to search those feelings.
Not until now
“Penny…?” She had been knocked to atlesian soil by the taller girl in a voracious tackle hug
But…
She was back, back, back in her arms
And there was more it seemed she needed to contemplate
Why did her heart feel so light and heavy and fluttery all at the same time
Like dancing on air yet drowning in water.
She wanted to be nothing but excited and yet she still feared, deep within, that the bright orange haired girl would be swept far away from her again
And this time by a tide she could not follow.
She buried her head deep into the taller girls ginger locks and cried in a half-hearted cheer. “Your here, your finally back, your with me”
Penny seemed to dig her head deeper into Ruby’s neck at that “and I always will be, I always will be my firefly”
An old nickname they used to have.
Not old anymore.
