Notes:

Oh look, a happy fic that came out of my teenage angst

Work Text:

“Taehyung!” Jungkook shouted, his fists banging against the doors of his own closet, “You can’t just hide in the closet forever…” He drifted, continuing to hit his hands against the wooden doorframe, desperately needing Taehyung to come out of his hiding. As Jungkook was about to resort to option two, Yoongi walked past his open bedroom door – his face pure confusion as he pointed towards the door, however, before Jungkook could explain the situation, he too, was inside his own closet, Yoongi barricading the door closed before announcing his departure. Confined to small spaces was one of Jungkook’s worst fears. Refusing his fear to take control, Jungkook shoved his shoulder against the door for any hope of breaking free.

“Kook…” Sniffled Taehyung, the playful grin Jungkook thought he had on his face was never there, only the worry of his previous words eating him alive in the darkness and solitude of Jungkook’s closet. “I am sorry, for saying those words to you,” He once again sniffled, “You can just, just ignore it. It doesn’t matter anymore.” Taehyung attempted to say, the darkness of the room covering the fake smile he had plastered, but not the sadness within his tone of voice.

Jungkook slowly inched closer to Taehyung, careful of the belongings he had contained in his closet, he wrapped his arms around the older male, Taehyung immediately playing with Jungkook’s hair to calm his anxiety in the small closet, “I am sorry I reacted badly – well, didn’t react at all. But,” Jungkook paused, choosing his next few words carefully before continuing, “Hyung, I have loved you for a long time – a very long time – so long that I had to force myself to believe that I did not love you so then I would not have to deal with the fact that you would never love me back. I still love you, Tae.” Jungkook looked up towards Taehyung, who was still messing around with Jungkook’s hair, silent tears falling down his cheeks, “I guess I did not react because I was afraid that you were only saying that because of pity? Because I knew you would never love me back like the way I love you? I don’t really know but all I know is that I love you.” Admitted Jungkook, burying his face in the crook of Taehyung’s neck, “I love you too, Kim Taehyung.”

Smiling, Taehyung leaned his head against the top of Jungkook’s, now plaiting his short hair to keep Jungkook calm in the small space. “Kookie?” Taehyung took a deep breath, “Will you be my boyfriend?” Jungkook lifted his head, looking into Taehyung’s wavering eyes as he reached out to dry the still wet tears off Taehyung’s face.

“Of course, I will!” Whispered Jungkook, throwing his arms around Taehyung’s neck again, the force pushing the pair onto their backs, a mop and bucket toppling on top of Jungkook – hitting his lip directly. “OW! SUGA, HOBI, ICED TAE!” Jungkook screamed in agony, before reassuring that he was fine when he sensed the worry in Taehyung’s eyes, “I’m okay, I’m okay.” Still worried about Jungkook, Taehyung returned his smile, reaching for Jungkook as he laid his head on his chest – falling asleep in his comfort.

Awoken by the sound of movement outside, they both immediately rose to their feet, preparing for the movement to cease or for the person to open the door. After waiting only a few moments, the movement stopped, the door swinging open to reveal Min Yoongi himself, his wide, gummy smirk spreading across his face as he caught a small glimpse of their intertwined hands. Yoongi’s smirk grew wider as he returned his gaze to their faces, pointing at Jungkook’s in particular – the swelling of his lip finally showing, along with both of their messy hair. “Yoongi, I swear we didn’t do anythi-“

“Oh look who has come out of the closet, literally and metaphorically.”

They both looked at each other, nodding as they both screamed, “RUN!
