Go To Sleep Already

Summary:

Ace wants King Boo to sleep with them, but doesn’t actually want to sleep.

Work Text:

“You should sleep.”

King Boo barely flinched as the smaller body of his partner bumped against him, not managing to move him an inch from where he floated. “I’m not human. I don’t require sleep.” He didn’t look at them, he just stared out the window towards the edge of the Boo Woods, where a small group of Boos were playing.

“If you don’t have to sleep, then at least lie next to me until I fall asleep?” Ace cuddled their cheek against King Boo’s body. They heard King Boo sigh before he turned to look at them.

“Fine, but only until you fall asleep.” He picked Ace up, floating over to the king sized bed in the master bedroom. He dropped them onto the plush mattress and soft comforter, Ace landing with a soft “oomph” escaping from their mouth. They watched as King Boo floated to the empty side of the mattress, his side, before landing on the mattress without managing a single bounce, even despite his size. Finally, King Boo turned towards Ace, his scowl still present on his face.

“There, are you happy now?” King Boo watched as his partner shuffled around, crawling under the comforter and stuffing several pillows under their head before nodding. “Good, now get to sleep.”

“But I’m not that sleepy yet.”

King Boo groaned at the statement. “Then why did you lie down in the first place?”

“Cause I wanted you to lay with me.” Ace smiled at King Boo so innocently, it nearly made him feel bad when he began to float off the bed. He heard his partner cry out as they grabbed one of his numbed arms in their sleeve-covered hands. “Please don’t go, Booble! I just wanted to spend some quiet quality time with you!”

King Boo blushed at the nickname, letting out another groan as he plopped himself back onto the bed. He watched as Ace scooted closer to him until they were spooning up against him, still looking at him with that big, innocent smile.

“You better fall asleep quickly, I have important king duties to attend to.” King Boo huffed out.

“Like writing in your secret diary that you think I don’t know about?”

Ace could feel King Boo puff up in anger at the question. “I don’t have a secret diary!”

Ace let out a wicked cackle. “I know you don’t silly! I was teasing you!” King Boo’s response to this was throwing a pillow at Ace’s face with his magic. He heard them giggle from under the pillow before he felt the same pillow bump against his side. “Don’t be a big meanie, Booble.”

King Boo responded by throwing another pillow at Ace’s face.

“Booble!!” King Boo let out a chuckle at his partners flailing, before yelling out in distress as the comforter flew into the air and landed on top of him, followed by Ace landing on top of him.

“That’s it, you little minx!” Both Ace and the comforter were lifted into the air by King Boo’s magic, the comforter wrapping around Ace like a burrito. Ace let out a squeal as they were thrown onto the bed again, still wrapped in their comforter-burrito prison, and King Boo once again threw a pillow at their face. “One more peep out of you and you’re going to sleep on the roof.” He heard Ace say something, but it was muffled by the pillow on their face. “You know I can’t understand you, so why are you even trying to say anything?” King Boo picked up the pillow off Ace‘s face.

“Because it gets your attention.” King Boo rolled his eyes at that statement, and Ace just continued talking. “Anyway, I said ‘you’d never let me sleep outside cause I’d freeze my little booty off’.” They ended their sentence with a wink at King Boo, which prompted the pillow being thrown back at Ace’s face.

“I let you talk too much.”
