Chapter 1: Prologue

Chapter Text

He was dreaming again. He could tell, people this beautiful didn’t exist. But in dreams they did.

(S/C) tinted skin surrounded by (H/C) hair was staring down at him, but her face was a haze. Despite not being able to make out her face, it was clear to him she was the most gorgeous woman he had laid his eyes upon.

They were sitting on a hill, under a tree overlooking the town with the castle not far in the distance. He was laying on his back with his head on her lap, looking up at the green canopy above him. The sun was setting, turning the sky into a whirlwind of pinks and oranges and he knew they’d have to head back soon.

But he could waste a little more time, after all, her deft fingers combing through his hair felt too good to pass up. He sighed in contentment and closed his eyes.

She let out a laugh that he could only compare to the tinkling of bells. He liked making her laugh, he wanted to hear it again.

He couldn’t believe she was his. Or at least he thought she was his.

There it was again.

That pull. Like someone was trying to rouse him. But he didn’t want to wake up, he wanted to stay with her. The nameless, faceless girl who he had no doubt he was in love with. He only hoped she loved him as much as he loved her.

A feminine voice was calling his name. But it wasn’t her.

“Wake up!” The voice kept saying followed by a sharp tug to his consciousness. Another tug.

With each tug, his world became blurrier, and he could feel himself grow closer to wakefulness.

Fine, he thought, let them wake me.

So, with one final tug, he opened his eyes.
