Frank,
Every time I see you I can feel my legs go wobbly, if I look you in the eyes for even a moment too long I get scared I’ll fall over. I bet you think it’s weird too, how I always look away so fast when it happens.
Every week now it seems I’ll look over at you from across the room, or when you’re minding your own business at the bodega. And sometimes, you’ll look back, even if it’s just a glance or a small nod.
But you don’t have to worry, I’m careful not to be creepy about it. I hope I’m doing (at the very least) an okay job at it. It’s just so hard not to look at you sometimes, especially when you smile.
Oh, Frank, I could go on for hours about the way you smile, but I’m afraid I wouldn’t be able to stop writing if I ever started. So I’ll keep it brief, the last thing I want is to overwhelm you.
I adore your smile, maybe the fact it’s so rare makes it even more special. I know it sounds selfish, but sometimes I wish you’d smile at me the way you smile at your butterflies or when something exciting happens in one of your books. And your nervous smile, I’ve only ever had the chance to see it once. I know this will sound cheesy but it’s so cute. The way your face went a shade of pink, the way your lips wobbled a bit- I sound creepy again, don’t I?
What I’m trying to say is, I love you. And I have for a while now. I’m sorry if I’ve scared you, there’s no need to reply with a letter like this one or a speech. Just, let me know how you feel, about everything.
