“I’m going back first.”
“Okay, take care, Deku! Give my regards to him!”
Midoriya Izuku, or Deku smiles at Uraraka. The green-haired hero waves his hand and goes out from his hero office just using his hoodie. It has been like this. Every April 20th, the number one hero will leave his office early. Heroes in his agency know about it. They never ask about it, yet Uraraka, the one who is close to Deku, always knows about it. She has tight lips so no one can get the information from her.
Izuku walks with his hoodie covering his green, curly hair. He wears a mask to cover half of his face. His big hoodie and baggy pants cover his well built muscles. The number one hero doesn’t have a large build like his predecessors, but he is still quite muscular. People will easily recognize him with his name and face everywhere in Japan. In news, in billboards, magazines, etc.
Sure, if this day is the usual day, Izuku will not cover himself like this. Izuku doesn’t want to be disturbed. He walks to a flower shop, the usual flower shop where he usually comes to buy flowers.
“Ah, Deku. Same flowers as usual?” The old lady who owns the flower shop smiles at Izuku.
Izuku smiles and nods. “Yes. The same flowers, please.”
“All right. I’ve whipped up the bouquet. I know you will come, Deku- kun ,” the old lady smiles and takes a bouquet from her desk and gives it to Izuku at the counter.
“Thank you, Hiroko- san . How much for this?” Izuku asks.
Hiroko, the old lady, waves her hand. “It’s free. Please don’t worry, Deku- kun . It’s a gift.”
“But -”
“There’s no but, young man.”
Izuku smiles. “Thank you, then, Hiroko- san . I’ll come again.”
Izuku nods, then he leaves the flower shop. The sun is almost going down. Izuku stares at the sky above him.
The sky is orange. A rare color to come out in spring.
Izuku just smiles and goes on walking to his destination.
After walking for half an hour, Izuku arrives. His steps are getting heavier each step he takes. Izuku dislikes this place.
A cemetery.
Of course, Izuku hates cemeteries. Who likes to go to the cemetery? But, here, in the cemetery, a person he truly loves laid asleep for forever.
There are almost no people at the cemetery. It’s not an usual date to go to the cemetery. Izuku walks on the path. He sees the names of the heroes who died to protect the civilians. It has been ten years since the war against All For One, and at that time, many heroes lost their lives. They were buried in this cemetery, a cemetery for heroes.
Izuku never forgets what happened that day. He never forgets how many heroes lost their lives during the biggest battle that happened in Japan. Heroes won but a lot of sacrifices were made.
Including the hero whose tombstone is right in front of Izuku.
There are some flowers already placed on the tombstone, and there is a cake.
Bakugou Katsuki
“Hi, Kacchan.”
Izuku places the flowers on the tombstone and he sits in front of the tombstone.
“Happy Birthday, Kacchan.”
Izuku chuckles. The photo of Katsuki grins is pasted on the tombstone with his Grenadier Bracers carved on the tombstone, just below his photo. Below the dates, it stated that he is one of the heroes who lost their lives in the final war.
“You should be 27 years old today. I know, it’s been a long time since we celebrated your birthday together. I thought Mitsuki- san must have brought you a cake, so I decided not to bring you a cake. I can’t cook so I don’t bring your favorite spicy curry too. You must be mad at me because I only brought you flowers for ten years, right?”
The wind blows past Izuku’s ears.
Izuku chuckles. “I know it. Kacchan, it’s been almost ten years. I… I miss you. It’s hard that you’re not here.”
Izuku strokes the tombstone. “I… regret that I never told you this, Kacchan. I love you, Kacchan. Strange, isn’t it? You bullied me for years, yet I still like you. I already forgive you for what happened in the past, but why don't you let me love you, Kacchan?
“Why are you just… gone? It’s lonely, Kacchan. I want to do everything with you. Graduated from the U.A. together. Doing heroes work together. Become the strongest together, just like what we always dreamed. Live together. Eat together. Spend the holiday together.”
Tears are formed on Izuku’s side eyes.
“Kacchan… If we have another chance, I will tell you everyday that I love you. You don’t have to say it back. It’s enough for me.”
“ Deku! ”
Izuku wipes his tears and stares at Katsuki’s tomb. He chuckles. “I just heard your voice.”
“Wake up, fucking nerd!”
“ Huh?”
“ Damn it! Deku, if you hear me, just open your fucking eyes!”
“Am I dreaming or I just hear your voice, Kacchan? But wait, how can your voice sound so real?”
“ Deku!”
“Huh?”
Izuku feels his head light before he falls.
It feels so fast. Izuku opens his eyes and he sees hospital ceilings.
“Huh?”
“Finally back, nerd.”
Izuku turns his head to the right. He sees familiar ash blonde hair. “Huh?”
“You’ve been hit by a quirk. Damn it, why do you always get hit by a strange quirk? You’re the fucking number one hero yet you always get hit strange quirk,” the owner of the ash blonde hair complains.
Izuku blinks. Once. Twice. Thrice.
“Kacchan?”
“Yeah, it’s me, nerd.”
Izuku stares at Katsuki. Katsuki is wearing his casual clothes, a black t-shirt that shows off his muscular body and a khaki coat. His right side of face is scarred with a big scar but it makes him look more masculine and hotter.
“What happened?” Izuku asks. He is still confused. A minute ago he was in front of Katsuki’s graveyard, but now he’s in a hospital bed, with pretty much alive Katsuki beside him.
“Quirk accident. You’ve been sleeping for 24 hours, more or less,” Katsuki explains. He flicks Izuku’s forehead.
“Ouch! It hurts, Kacchan!” Izuku groans. “What kind of quirk?”
Katsuki sighs. “We don’t have the name for now, but the fucking villain says that it makes you living in a nightmare. Can’t be canceled. He says that the effect should be last for six hours, but that fucking retard used some quirk enhancer. I should beat him more.”
Katsuki takes Izuku’s hand and kisses it. “How do you feel?”
“Peachy…” Izuku answers. “Still confused.”
“What’s your nightmare about? Tell me, nerd,” Katsuki asks with a soft voice laced with worry.
Izuku blinks, then he stares at Katsuki. “Wait… Are you… alive?”
Katsuki snorts. He takes Izuku’s hand to his left chest. “Well, what do you think?”
Thump. Thump. Thump .
Izuku smiles softly. He can feel Katsuki’s heart beat with his hand. It’s beating. It’s alive.
“Yeah. This is the reality, right?”
Katsuki scoffs. He mutters, “Should’ve blast him to death. Damn.”
Izuku chuckles. His head still feels light but he is aware that this Katsuki is his Katsuki, whom he loves so much. “I dream in a world where… you died that day.”
Katsuki strokes Izuku’s hand. “ That day ?”
Izuku nods. “It feels like I’m not in a dream. You’re not there, I can’t do anything except going to your grave several times. I was… in your grave before I woke up here.”
Katsuki sighs. “You’re still confused right now. I will call the doctor.”
RIght.
Izuku is beyond confused why Katsuki is acting sweetly to him. His memories are still jumbled. It’s difficult to differentiate between the dream and reality. He feels like he is living in a dream now.
It doesn’t take a long time before Katsuki gets back with the doctors. Katsuki stands beside Izuku with his hands inside his pants’ pocket.
“Deku- san , I’m very grateful that you have woken up. I need to check on you so please answer my question.”
“Okay.”
“Can you tell me your name?” The doctor asks.
“Midoriya Izuku,” Izuku replies without skipping a beat.
The doctor frowns. “What’s your age?”
“Twenty six.”
“Occupation?”
“Hero.”
“What is the last thing you remember before you faint?”
Izuku frowns. “I don’t know?”
The doctor sighs. “I think the quirk hits harder than we think, Dynamight- san . Clearly Deku- san is still confused. Deku- san can go home later, but we need to check his physical condition first. The confusion is temporary, Dynamight- san .”
Katsuki nods. “Fine.”
Another doctor checks on Izuku’s condition. It doesn’t take a long time for the doctors to declare that it is safe for Izuku to go home. Katsuki goes out to clear the administration. It doesn’t take a long time before Katsuki goes back to the room. Izuku has changed his clothes to his usual t-shirt and baggy shirt and pants.
“C’mon, let’s go home, nerd.” Katsuki waves his hand.
“Yeah,” Izuku replies. He still feels peachy but he can walk just fine.
Izuku follows Katsuki blindly. Somehow, Izuku feels his heart is already full. It’s enough that he can see Katsuki alive and they can talk. It feels warm.
It doesn’t take a long time before they get to a familiar house, but Izuku can’t really remember whose house it is. He squints his eyes to look better at the nameplate.
BAKUGOU
“Kacchan, this is your house right? Your own house? Why did you take me here?” Izuku asks.
Katsuki sighs. “Because you can’t take care of yourself, you dumbass. C’mon let’s go in.”
Izuku tilts his head before he follows Katsuki inside the house.
“Thanks for having me,” Izuku says and he takes off his shoes and places them on the shoe rack naturally.
The house is not a big one but it is quite comfortable. Izuku looks around the house and feels that the house is very familiar to him. Izuku walks to the living room. His eyes bulge out when he hsees a big framed photo in the middle of the wall in front of the sofa. Katsuki who just takes off his blazer and places it on the sofa stands beside Izuku who is frozen.
“Ka-Kacchan…”
“Ha? What is it again, nerd?”
“Wh-Why… that photo?” Izuku almost screams with a face as red as a tomato while pointing at the photo.
The photo is clearly a wedding photo of him and Katsuki. Both of them are wearing white suits. Katsuki’s arm is wrapped around Izuku’s waist and he kisses Izuku’s forehead and Izuku smiles widely.
Katsuki groans. “Oh, fuck! We’re married, damn it, Bakugou Izuku!”
Izuku is stoned. “EEEEEH?”
Katsuki shows his right hand with a ring adorned on his ring finger. "We've been married for two years for fuck sake! You're losing your memory or what?"
Izuku blushes hard. Izuku glances at his right hand and finds the same ring.
"I-I am still confused… It feels like I'm dreaming right now. It's overwhelming…” Izuku answers.
“C’mon, sit down. I’ll bring you water,” Katsuki says while he leads Izuku to sit on the sofa.
Izuku sighs. He takes his phone from his pants. Izuku was too overwhelmed to check on his phone. As soon as he checks his phone, Izuku sees the lockscreen picture of his phone is Katsuki in his hero’s suit. He enters the passcode to his phone and sees the wallpaper is his wedding photo with Katsuki.
“Huh?”
The date is April 20.
“I see that you remember you have a phone,” Katsuki says as he puts two glasses of water on the coffee table and he sits beside Izuku.
“Kacchan! It’s your…”
“My birthday? Yes, it’s the most amazing birthday when my husband got in a quirk accident a day before and can’t remember that we’re already married,” Katsuki snorts.
Izuku blushes again. Hearing Katsuki keep on telling him that they are married and Katsuki is husband is making him blush and feels like he is a teenager again.
“You know I don’t mean that, you meanie!” Izuku smacks Katsuki’s chest.
Katsuki laughs. “It’s alright. You’re safe. That’s enough for me, fucking nerd.” Katsuki reaches Izuku’s freckled cheek and caresses Izuku’s cheek.
“Your memory is jumbled right? Let’s start… I died in your nightmare. You lived for years without me and visited the grave. Is that your worst memory? And fear?” Katsuki asks softly.
Izuku nods. He still remembers the feeling of that day, holding Katsuki’s lifeless and cold body in his arms. He couldn’t do anything. Izuku felt his world was destroyed that day.
“Well, I died that day. If you don’t remember, Edgeshot somehow revived me, stitched my heart, at the cost of his life. After the war ended, you were in a coma for a month, more or less. After you woke up and saw me, you had the same reaction as you did this afternoon. You cried like a baby after you were convinced that I was alive.”
Izuku smiles softly after hearing Katsuki’s story.
“Let me convince you that this is real, not a dream, Izuku.”
Katsuki leans forward and closes his eyes. Izuku’s heart skips a beat. The next second, Izuku can feel Katsuki’s hot lips on his lips.
It’s warm.
It feels like a fire inside his heart. Warm and alive. This is not a dream. Katsuki is real, kissing him. Izuku closes his eyes and kisses Katsuki back. Izuku loops his arms around Katsuki’s neck and Katsuki kisses him deeper.
Izuku doesn’t know when his tears are starting to flow out from his eyes. His heart is swollen with happiness.
“Kacchan… I love you,” Izuku murmurs after Katsuki ends the sweet kiss.
“I know,” Katsuki replies. “Don’t fucking cry.”
Izuku giggles. “These are happy tears. I’m happy because you’re here with me and this is not a dream.”
Katsuki smiles softly. “Yeah, me too.”
“Ah! Happy birthday, Kacchan. I don’t remember if I already got you a present or not… Well…” Izuku tries hard to remember if he has bought a present or not. His brain is still foggy.
Katsuki smirks. “You don’t have to get a present for me. I will get it by myself,” Katsuki says as his hand starts to roam around Izuku’s body and finally gropes the perfect and round ass.
“Kacchan!”
Katsuki takes Izuku off from the sofa and carries him to the bedroom.
“Let me get my present, nerd.”
