Work Text:
A tall green humanoid turtle can be seen working away at his bench, his newest creation, something he’d rather not get into. He works and works until his name is called by his oldest brother; Leonardo. He stands up, setting his creation away before walking out of his lab, to the kitchen.
“Ah, Donnie there you are. I was wondering when you’d show.” Leo gives him a light smile, “Here set the table please?” Donnie nods, grabbing the plates off of Leo's hands, he begins to put the plates on the table and puts down some cups alongside a jug of water.
He stands at the edge of the table, unable to process anything, his head feeling heavy and fuzzy, everything around him is muffled, his ears ringing, everything too loud, but too quiet. He looks around, scared, dazed, and even more confused than he was before, he reaches up to grab his head, he can feel tears fall from his eyes, even those feel heavy.
He looks over at Leo who just looks like. He just looks fake, like he’s not even there, his face melting and morphing into something, horrifying. “Leo..?” He calls out, his voice feeling like it's not there, he reaches out to grab him only to see him dissolve into dust the second his fingertips graze Leo's shell. He looks down at his hands, tears dropping onto his palms, the sound of TV static filling his ears.
He holds his ears falling backward onto the ground, pulling his knees up to his shell, his breaths coming out short and ragged, his throat feels as though it's closing up, and he can't breathe.
I can't breathe. I can't fucking breathe.
His head raced around the thought,
Am I going to Die?
No, I can't. What's going on!?
Leo rushes over to Donatello as soon as he notices something up, he begins to shake him, “Donnie? Donatello, what's going on?” He exclaims, worry coursing through his veins, “Don, please be ok..” He holds onto Donatello's shoulders, resting his head against his shell, hearing his heart beating. ‘ Thank the Lord he’s alive.’
Donatello feels a presence, Leo. It's Leo. “Leo!?” He screams out, crying, he’s scared, he’s never experienced something like this before, and it's freaking him out. ‘What's going on..Why is this happening!’ He thinks, grabbing onto the shell in front of him, he can hear Leo's voice calling out to him, “Donatello! It’s ok! I’m here for you.”
Leo holds onto Donnie like he’s going to disappear if he lets go, “Please Don, I’m here.” He can feel Donatello's tears drip onto his skin, he looks at him, holding his face, pressing his forehead against Donnie, “It’s all going to be ok, can you understand me?” Donnie nods his head, still struggling to breathe, Leo coaches him through breathing, “I need you to breath in and out, breath in, hold, breath out.” Leo repeats this cycle over and over again.
Leo would do anything for his baby brother. “Donnie?” Donatello finally looks up, eyes full of tears, head pounding. “Leo..” Donatellos face changes, one from complete fear and sadness to relief that his brother was there for him the whole time.
He hugs Leo, holding onto him for dear life, sniffling into his shoulder. “Thank you, Leo..”
“No problem Don.”
