Chapter 1: Who?

Chapter Text

The woods were desolate, cold. All signs of life erased once the apocalypse had started.
Caramel Arrow was used to the silence. Her time in the Dark Cacao Kingdom provided her with such, though wildlife made the wooded area there feel more alive and comfortable. She had been wandering for 2 weeks, unable to find anybody (or anything) in the large area.
She had witnessed the moment when everything she loved fell apart. The horror of seeing the citizens of the kingdom massacred, their bodies thrown onto the street like worthless trash. She had forced herself to look away, to leave her life behind and leave for an unknown city. And here she was now, alone, with only her twin blades to accompany her. The sound of her boots seemed to overshadow her thoughts. Her senses haven’t dulled, she was still as sharp as the day she was named First Watcher. She could hear something behind her, the soft ruffle of fabric getting closer and closer. Caramel glanced behind her, trying to locate the root of the sound.

“Reveal yourself. I can tell you’re near”, she yelled out. Who knows what would be out in the desolate wasteland?

A white-clad figure reveals herself. Blonde hair, sharp light brown eyes, a sword to her right. She glares at Caramel, just as equally suspicious of the other. They stare at each other, trying to eye the other’s weakness.

“Who are you? Where do you hail from?", Caramel asks. She had no use trusting just anybody.

“And why should you know? We both know how dangerous the world currently is,” the blonde replies.

They stare at each other for minutes, preparing for the other to make the first move before…

“RAAAAH!”

Caramel brandishes her twin blades, dashing towards the figure. The blonde swiftly unsheathes her sword, skillfully parrying her move. The sound of metal hitting metal seemed to echo around the place.
Caramel seemed to be more offensive while the blonde woman seemed to be more defensive. Her moves were strong, grounded, steady while Caramel’s was light, agile, swift. This seemed to go on for hours, both women slowly starting to get exhausted by the minute. Eventually, Caramel lands a hard blow to the other’s stomach then chest, sending her crashing to a tree.
She holds a twin blade up to the other’s neck,

“Now what’s your name. You’re obviously not from the Dark Cacao Kingdom, though you’re skilled in combat.”

The other woman looks at her scornfully before answering,

“Financier. From the Creme Republic.”
