Work Text:
Living in a small house surrounded by a unit of outside land resembling a small farm, farmer husbands Troy Barnes and Abed Nadir have a decent amount of prosperity and wealth in the forms of iron appliances, cooking utensils, and materials meant for planting, gardening, and growing freshly home-made fruits and vegetables in the fields, the tool shed, and as well as in the kitchen. They also have animals in their care such as goats, lambs, oxen, and horses.
Every morning near the crack of dawn, Troy and Abed wake up together in their tiny little bed in their tanktops often bunched up to their bellies, sometimes with their legs linked over the over, sometimes with an arm wrapped around the chest, or even with their mouths drooling. Getting out of bed, the husbands performed the traditional morning routine of brushing their teeth in the bathroom and dress themselves up in button-up denim overalls as their regular work attire. Underneath the attire, Troy wore a solid gray tshirt and Abed a solid white tshirt.
While Abed was busy in the kitchen making breakfast for himself and his husband Troy, the latter sat on the couch in the living room, going back and forth through the boring channels of their television screen and remote to really find some sort of interesting 24/7 TV movie, show, or program to watch for a bit before heading out to work in the grassfield. Abed came back armed with a tray carrying two plates of diagonally cut grilled cheese sandwiches and glasses of special drink, setting the tray down on the small coffee table before his husband as he took his share of the meal at the same time as his husband did.
At about 8 on the dot, it was time for work on the farm. Troy and Abed help each other in carrying out their tasks. While Troy gathered large bales of hay from the grains harvests for the livestock to graze on, Abed carried gallons of water for them to satisfy their thirst with. Ensuring that the livestock have enough bales of straw and water, Troy heads out to the local market with the car to go buy some groceries while Abed stays back to supervise their livestock as well as the garden.
Heading to the tool shed, Abed got out a half-finished bag of soil, gardening trowel, basket, a pair of shears, and a watering can and headed to the garden located in their backyard. He loves gardening and would often spend expanding on the agricultural land by their volume in different sections - one for herbs, another for an infinite variety of flowers, and the other for vegetables meant to be cut up or chopped to be boiled or cooked in a hot pot of homemade chicken noodle soup. Only Troy himself knows the recipe to his mother's and grandmother's soup, and he'll refuse to give away it's secrets to his husband, no matter how hard he'll prod.
Abed picks out the most naturally fresh and ripe carrots and tomatoes to save in the basket to bring in the house to help Troy slice and dice in preparing the soup, as well as a couple of organic herbs like cilantro to sprinkle in. With the proper necessities for the evening's dinner, Abed brought them into the house and settled them on the kitchen table, and catered to his flowers. Troy returned home with bags in his hands and called on his husband who returned from the tool shed, to take break with him and help unpack the items, to which he complied.
After enjoying a nice, warm plate of leftover buttered noodles for lunch, it's back to the farm for the noon. Inside the stables, the husbands caressed and brushed the horses while they'd feed them some of the stacks of grass in front of them as they will take sips of water often.
After a long day of work from the hot sun outdoors, when it came evening, Abed helped Troy make his homemade soup for dinner with the ingredients he'd gathered from the vegetable patch, and it tasted delicious as they sat in front of their TV watching an old Lifetime movie.
Now laying in bed together for the night, Troy and Abed drift off to sleep, knowing no matter how much work it may take to maintain a farm they'd bought, they can make it work as long as they are still young, but can make the decision to move elsewhere when they reach their old age as pensioners and give it to somebody else who has a passion farming like they do.
Lather, rinse and repeat.
