Rayane had sent a message to Jack, asking him to meet at the skate park in the afternoon without any more explanation. Jack already asked him what were his plans but Rayane avoided telling much.
Jack arrived at the skate park as it was planned. The day was bright, he was in a good mood. Rayane was already there, sat near the place where they first kissed. When he saw him coming, Rayane stood up and came to meet him, smiling, took him in his arms and kissed him tenderly.
-Hey, said Jack after they broke the kiss. What is it with all the mystery ?
-I thought of bringing you somewhere special today, if you're ok with it.
Rayane looked suddenly a little bit nervous.
-Uh, sure said Jack, where is it ?
-It's... uh... If it's ok for you, could we just go and talk after ? It's something important to me, but I must say it's not really funny. And I'm afraid you'd think I'm a weirdo if I explain it now.
Jack was a bit worried to see his boyfriend so nervous.
-If it's important to you of course I'll follow you, I trust you, you know it.
-Thank you ! Said Rayane with a little smile.
He took Jack's hand and lead him through the streets of Sète, remaining silent for a long time. After maybe 25 minutes, they arrived at a place Jack recognised.
-Wait, the cemetery ? He asked, intrigued.
Jack could feel Rayane was becoming very tense now.
-Yeah... I... I'd like to sort of... introduce you...
Jack felt his heart tightening in his chest, understanding what Rayane had in mind. He squeezed his hand and gave him a little encouraging smile.
-Ok, let's go then.
They entered the cemetery and Rayane guided them through the alleys to finally arrive near a tomb looking very recent. The stone was only bearing one single name « Malik Saeed ».
Rayane let Jack's hand, bended a knee and touched the stone. Jack remained silent, standing behind him.
-Hi dad, said Rayane with a shaking and bitter voice. I wanted to talk to you about someone important. So here we are... This is Jack. I'd have loved to be able to introduce him in better circumstances. I'd have loved many things to be better than this actually. But we don't have a choice now, do we ?
He stopped for a moment, wiping the tears from his eyes.
-He's my boyfriend, he said more firmly. I love him. And there's nothing you can change about it !. I'd have liked you to be more open minded you know, because for real, if you had try, you would have loved him. He's incredible. Much stronger than you ever were, determined, never giving up. He's honest, fair and right. He's a good man. And I love him madly. And now... Wherever you are, you can't do anything to stop me being happy with him !
Jack was deeply moved and let the tears flow from his eyes, but remained silent and immobile.
Rayane stood up, turned around and hugged him tightly.
-Jack, my love, he said in his ear, this is my stupid dad.
Jack said nothing but tightened the embrace a bit more, letting Rayane cry on his shoulder for a while. He dropped soft kisses on his temple, through his curls. Then Rayane staighten up a little bit and looked at Jack in the eyes, smiling weakly.
-Are you ok ? Asked Jack.
-Yeah said Rayane. Much better actually.
Jack smiled back.
-I think I needed that, as a way to... turn the page, close the chapter, you know.
-I understand. It was important. Thank you for bringing me here. I know how difficult it was for you these past few months.
-But it's over now. Now it's you and me together. It's the only thing that counts. I don't want to let him make me feel bad or unworthy again.
-I love you Rayane, I'll be there for you, and nobody will despise you again.
-I love you too, answered Rayane with a big smile.
They kissed tenderly then walked away, Jack holding Rayane's arm, without looking back.
-You know what ? Said Rayane while they reached the graveyard gates, I think you should meet my mom when she'll be back from her formation, she will be happy to see you !
-With pleasure said Jack with a bright smile.
