Chapter Text
Some people have happy childhoods. Others aren’t so lucky.
Mikael Stoickson was the latter.
But it was not a question of ‘luck’. His unhappiness was a matter of Destiny.
Mikael, the patriarch of the Mikaelson family, was always destined to be unhappy… In every universe. Without his misery and his rage, his children’s stories would make no sense.
Whoever was in charge of Fate had long decided Mikael would be the monster haunting his children’s dreams.
Still, no version of Mikael ever accepted his fate without a fight. In every dimension, he gave his blood to keep his children safe, until something or someone made him into a monster…
In most universes, Mikael lost, terribly…
But in others, through his unrelenting stubbornness and his undying love for his children, Mikael won.
This is one of such universes.

Mikael Stoickson. Born in 1958. The son of a drug addict mother, who overdosed when he was 8, and an ex-military turned criminal father, who like to use Mikael as a toy.
He started fighting when he was nine. His father didn’t bother to take Mikael to boxing lessons, only to the fights where he could earn some money—in the first years, his own father bet on Mikael losing all fights. After some years, however, young Mikael proved to be a great fighter.
Even though his father barely gave his studies any attention, Mikael got to high school, where he met the two loves of his life: Ansel and Esther.
Mikael married Esther officially when he was 18, and she was 23. In the same year, he also married Ansel, unofficially and with Esther’s blessing.
The children came into their life the following year…
Mikael had always dreamed of being a father, but he had never dared to put his wishes into words. From an early age, life had soon taught him dreams were for others, not for him. He lived his entire life under his father’s thumb. Beaten, used and abused… Yet, it never stopped Mikael from seeking a better life, if not for himself, at least for his family...
In this universe, his children would be happy.
He swore it. Every time he held his children, Mikael promised to make sure they were safe and happy...
Fate had no say in it. Mikael won’t let it ruin his children like it ruined him.
But only time can tell if he’ll truly succeed...
