You make me sparkle

Summary:

Fujio is in love with Tsukasa. So very much.

Notes:

I listened to Chungha's Sparkling on repeat like four hours when coming up with this story. Also inspired by the ending scene of TRR. The story is set sometime after the fight with Senomon in Worst X.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

"Come on, come on Tsukasa - hurry up!"

Fujio wanted to claim the best spot on the park steps for the afternoon. He had the exact one in mind where the afternoon sun would hit just right and it was a little out of the way from the main part. He wanted the date to be perfect, Tsukasa deserved the bestest most perfect date for what they'd gone through in the past month alone.

"Jeez stop worrying Fujio, there's like five people in this whole park beside us - what are you stressing about? We're supposed to have a good time, remember? And you don't want your ice cream to melt do you?" As always, Tsukasa was right. Fujio was worrying about nothing, Tsukasa wouldn't care if they sat on this step or that bench or the grass over there. It was only Fujio's own insecurities about being a good boyfriend that made him fuss about insignificant things.

They did eventually settle on a spot and Fujio leaned back, enjoying the warm stone at his back and the sun on his face. He felt happy - content even - for the first time in a long while. Off the top of his head Fujio couldn't remember the last time they'd been on a proper date...there was always something going on that demanded their attention. And of course, the way things went down with Senomon...Fujio did not want to experience that ever again.

"Oh! Say, Tsukasa, did you hear back from the pet shop about getting a weekend job there? It would be so cool, imagine you get to work with cute bunnies all day long...man, I would love that. If you get it for real I'm going to visit you like every day," Fujio was already daydreaming about turning up at the shop and going Yeah hi, I'm here to see my boyfriend? You know, Tsukasa?

Tsukasa's laugh was Fujio's favourite sound, it had been in short supply lately which made it even more precious.

"I did, they said I can start in two weeks. But Fujio please, don't turn up every single weekend while I'm supposed to be working. We can have dinner together after and stuff but I want to make a good impression on them so don't you come and mess it up for me!"

Gosh Tsukasa was cute when he got all serious about something which usually meant Fujio was on the receiving end of a telling-off. He kinda liked that...it made him feel like Tsukasa cared enough about him to take him seriously.

"Fine, fine I promise - I won't come and bother you at work. It's going to be hard though, not having you to myself all weekend any more..."

"Oh my god stop being so dramatic. I'm only gonna work like six hours on Saturdays and four on Sundays, hardly slave labour. Plenty of time to hang out together...no, wait - stop, what the hell Fujio!" While Tsukasa had been in the middle of his rant Fujio had managed to get a bite out of Tsukasa's ice cream, "you're such a menace, look - there's chocolate fudge all over. You're so messy, ew."

Really, Tsukasa was too cute when he got like this - which was of course why Fujio had done it in the first place.

"I'm sorry but it looked so delicious...here, you can have some of mine."

"No, don't want - look, it's all melting and gross," Tsukasa recoiled from the offered ice cream. To be fair, Fujio knew his boyfriend well - he didn't particularly like chocolate or messy foods - but he couldn't help but tease him just the same.

"Aw, big bad Tsukasa afraid of a little mess? Wait until I tell everyone...hey now, what are you doing??" Tsukasa (never one to back away from a direct challenge) had leaned forward and licked the melting chocolate where it had run over Fujio's fingers.

That was...wow. Okay. Fujio suddenly felt a little hot all over, while their relationship was known at school Tsukasa was usually very careful to avoid anything more than handholding in public.

"Wow...I didn't realise that all I had to do was to steal some ice cream to get my boyfriend to drop his aversion to PDA! I will definitely keep that in mind for the future," Fujio couldn't help but tease, despite feeling all kinds of tingly about the feeling of Tsukasa's tongue on his skin.

Tsukasa blushed (so cute!) and sat up straight again, looking somewhere over Fujio's shoulder before speaking softly. "I don't...it's not that I don't want to like, kiss you in public or something. But it's like there's this feeling that it's Not Okay, you know? I mean I know my parents love me just fine but I've never seen them being affectionate in public. I don't remember them hugging me or holding my hand since I was old enough to go to school on my own. And I know that's not fair on you that we never do any of the stuff other couples do. I get jealous sometimes watching Murayama and Cobra and I just...wish that we could be like that too. I am trying, it's just hard you know?"

Oh Fujio's heart hurt hearing that. He had grown up in a home where everyone was open with how much they loved one another, he wasn't shy about touching people. Of course he'd learned when he first became friends (and later boyfriends) with Tsukasa to respect that he was just different that way. It had never bothered him, to be honest - if Tsukasa ever wanted nothing more than what they had now it would be fine with him.

"Hey babe, come here...I was just joking. I didn't meant to upset you! You know I'm okay with the way things are, right? I don't need you to change, I mean that was nice and all but I love you just the way you are."

Mindful of his boyfriend's...issues, Fujio squeezed Tsukasa's hand tightly and offered him another bite of his (nearly melted by now) ice cream by way of apology. The remainder of the afternoon passed by quickly and in bright spirits, Fujio got Tsukasa to chase him around the park in mock outrage by stealing his phone and taking pictures of whatever he saw around him - in contrast to Tsukasa's carefully curated photo gallery. It was only when Fujio was wheezing from the running and laughing that he stopped, still unable to stop grinning as Tsukasa retrieved his phone and threatened to never go out with him anywhere again!

"Hey Fujio?"

"Eh? What, I did nothing!"

Tsukasa smiled, the particular way when he thought Fujio was being dumb. "I never said you did anything, can you be quiet for like a second and listen? Just wanted to say that I love you too, wouldn't change a thing about you even if I could."

And well. Wasn't Fujio just the luckiest guy in the world, that Tsukasa loved him in return? Fujio was going to make sure that Tsukasa never had to doubt that.

Notes:

Gosh this one was a toughie, I'm out of practice writing fluffy things! Thank you as always for reading this far, hope you like!
