Work Text:

It was a beautiful day outside. A crisp autumn morning. One full of the smell of pumpkin spices and the sounds of cars going by with ease. A rarity when living in the city but it was one to enjoy. The sunlight creaks into the room from the slit of the blinds and moves upwards on the bed.

Soon hitting the brunette's eyes. Making him grumble as he try to move around and fall back asleep even though the sun had already told him to get up. But still, he stays in bed for a few minutes before finally giving up and slowly sitting up in his bed. Rubbing his eyes from what felt like a one-and-a-million peaceful sleep.

He looks around the room for a moment hearing the bird chirping outside the window as he was in this simi dimly lit room. He yawns before reaching for his phone to see what time it was.

7:45 am. Saturday Morning. September 24th. No new text messages, no missing calls, and no notifications.

He knows he should get back to sleep, he was up all night doing stuff and this was his day off from work yet...

He looks over at the Narrator sleeping in a separate bed as he was still asleep. All snuggled up in bed and almost looks innocent.

Stanley should start making breakfast for them.

So with a scratch and a yawn, he proceeds to get out of bed, being careful to not shut the door too hard, and making his way to the kitchen. Like a routine, he does almost every Saturday when he has time off from work.

First, he checks the fridge to see what he can make, then get an amazing idea before realizing the one thing he needs they don't have, and then go with the second option.

And today's second option was sunny-side-up eggs with bacon and toast. Sounds easy enough to make, if you know how to make sunny-side-up eggs. Stanley was one of the few that did not know how to do it but he was feeling adventurous this morning.

So he started getting the stuff he needed out. The eggs, the pans, the non-stick butter, the bacon, and the bread.

He turns on the gas stove, watching the flames come out suddenly and rise before settling down due to Stanley turning it on low. Then put the pan on it so it can heat up before spraying the pan with butter. Watching the butter simplify melt and even bubble a little due to the heat.

So far so good.

He smiles to himself as he gets a few slaps of bacon onto the pan listening to the meat hiss at him. He gets a fork and started to move it around so it cook properly, as he wasn't afraid of a little bacon grease getting splashed onto his skin.

Once he was satisfied with how he moves it he then flip them over before getting the toast in the toaster. Pressing down on the handle and went back to the stove to get the tea kettle going. For the Narrator's cup of morning tea.

Fucking Brit.

Stanley rolled his eyes as he went to get the tea bag and a mug for it.

A simple white mug and the famous Earl Grey Tea.

The Narrator should be lucky Stanley knows how to make this at the perfect temperature. 212 degrees Fahrenheit.

Stanley opens the tea bag and places it in the mug before turning his attention back over to the bacon getting them on a paper towel so they're not getting grease everywhere.

He looks around a bit and notices he hadn't even started his drink, which was coffee. He also realized that's probably why he feels so sluggish today. Stanley moves his head around before going over to the coffee maker and turning it on.

It was one of those cheap Keurig coffee makers he has gotten at Walmart for 50 dollars, but if it means he'll never have to worry about burning his coffee he'll take it. Besides he did think it was a waste full since he makes a full pot but only needs a cup or two worth considering his work provides coffee there.

It was then that the toaster went off to tell someone the toast was done. Stanley went back over to it and started getting butter and jam on his toast and leaving the other one alone for the Narrator. He tends to dip his with the eggs. He gets them on the place.

The water should be at the perfect temperature by now as he walks over to the kettle hearing the water boiling and rumbling. Carefully picked the kettle up and started pouring the water into the cup, watching the color coming out of the bag already.

It then he felt hands around his waist and soon a face in his neck, his back pressed against a chest. Making him flinch slightly but calming down seeing it was just the Narrator coming out of bed for his sleepy morning affection.

"Morning." Stanley mutter to him as he set the kettle down and tries to look at him.

The Narrator just hums as he pulled the man closer to him, pressing his face into the other soft hair.

"Someone extra affectionate this morning..." He muttered as he gently moves the tea bag around by the string.

The Narrator stays silent as he was half awake, a sleepy dazed as he stands there with Stanley in his arms. If he could he would sleep standing up just to stay like this. But Stanley won't ever let him.

Stanley gently reaches over to the back of the Narrator's head and gently kisses it. "Come on, time for the couch." He mutters to him and gently removes himself from the Narrator's hold before grabbing the other hand to lead him over to the couch.

Getting him to sit down and turn on the news for him to watch to see what was currently going on with the world before handing him the tea that he made for him. Then kiss his forehead again.

"Breakfast will be ready in a few minutes." He tell him as he ruffled the already messy hair before he return to the kitchen to start working on the eggs.

He crackles his fingers before getting the eggs out and started to put them on the frying pan, watching the egg yoke come out and hearing the hissing sound it makes.

All he has to do was not mess this up. Cook. Don't flip.

He smiles to himself as he added some salt and pepper to it so it looks more appetizing. The whites look fluffy and the yolk still looks runny enough he just needs to put them on the plate and...

One of the yolks broke and slip into the whites.

Stanley turns off the stove and slowly inhales his frustration. To make it worst that was the last bit of eggs they had. He sighs as he rubs his face a bit.

No, he's not going down into the rabbit hole of self-pity and thinking he's a failure. He's not going to do that here. There's still one good egg left that isn't broken so he'll just give that to the Narrator. Problem solved.

He patted his face a bit as he get back to this, getting the eggs on the plate for both of them then took the plates over to the small dining table. Then headed back as he realized he forgot to make his coffee again.

The Narrator notices the food on the table and soon makes his way over still sleepy as he yawns and places the cup on the table. Soon he noticed the plates.

Stanley grabbed a great value brand k cup to put in the coffee maker and press a button so it can start making it only to soon realized he forgot to get a mug out. A puddle of coffee was now on the counter and making its way onto the floor.

Strike two, on his mental health as he stares down at the floor in despair for a few seconds.

It was only a moment before he shakes his head and decided to try again. He huffs and started to get it cleaned up the best he could with a rag then got sidetracked again as he started to clean the kitchen. Putting stuff in the sink, throwing away stuff, and putting things away.

At this point, the Narrator was fully awake as he watch the others moving around before coming back over to him. He tends to wait on the other so they can eat together.

"Forgetting something?" He asked as Stanley just sat down.

It took a minute before the other seems to realize that he had forgotten again, but instead of getting up he just lay his head in defeat. Having no motivation to do anything and wishing he stayed in bed this morning.

The narrator frowns at his companion before getting up and goes make him a cup of coffee. Getting one of Stanly's silly mugs that have words or pictures on them. For some reason, Stanley seems to like these mugs and refused to use a plain one.

He get the cup of coffee ready before putting in a bit of creamer into the coffee, only to see it wasn't mixing well with the coffee. He squint at the expiration dates on it as he didn't have his glasses on to read it. It didn't look expired and it didn't smell expired and he knows that Stanley's coffee isn't expired. Maybe that was normal?

He shrugs and brings the coffee back over to him. Gently ruffling his hair before going back to sit across from him.

"Come on, I know you're hungry. You didn't eat much last night."

Stanley went to speak but got cut off.

"And no eating a bag of chips from the vending machine at work doesn't count as eating last night." The narrator informs him.

Stanley grumbled as he went to eat only to see that he had the perfect sunny side egg on his plate. He slowly looks back over at the Narrator and sees him eating the messed up one. He leans against his arms.

"You didn't need to do that..." He muttered.

"Well, I can't let you do everything around here and make it my top priority." The narrator simply tells him as he sips on his tea.

Stanley grab his toast and took a bit out of it. "Maybe you'll finally start cleaning then." He spoke with a full mouth.

"Manner Stanley, you're not a pig."

The brunette thought about that for a moment before opening his mouth and teasing the other with the chew-up food. Making childish noises at him.

"Ugh! Stanley that's sickening! Stop that!" He orders.

Stanley giggles and swallow his food. "Oh come on it's a little bit funny." He stated.

The narrator rolled his eyes at him once more. "It is not. You're an adult, you shouldn't act so childish..."

"Said the grumpy old man..." Stanley tries to mock him a bit and giggles to himself. "Maybe we should do something to get that cactus out of your ass huh?"

"Language Stanley." The narrator warns him setting his cup down.

But it was all bark and no bite with him as there was nothing he can do about Stanley's potty mouth and childish ways besides being annoyed and stating it. Hoping maybe he'll stop doing it. Even though if Stanley ever did he wouldn't know how to feel about it. After all, that's just how Stanley is.

He watch as the other eyes twinkle a bit as he went to stay a line of cuss words to annoy the Narrator more. Though the Narrator would love that the other should eat. So he cuts him off.

"Breakfast first, cuss later."

Stanley frowns but soon shrugs it off, he was hungry. So he ate a bit on his plate as the silence happens between them for just a moment. As birds could be heard tweeting and flying by their building. Like a childhood Saturday morning. The only thing missing was the cartoon on the tv.

"And I do clean thank you. I cleaned the coffee machine while you were busy doing other things." The narrator spoke up after a few minutes of silence between the two.

"Oh, really what did you clean it with then?" Stanley asked grabbing his cup of coffee and going to take his first-morning sip.

"Vinegar."

It was just then he tasted something sour hit his enter his mouth instead of the smooth creamy coffee he was used to drinking. He couldn't swallow it as it tasted bad, so he spit it out and coughs. Then gaged at the taste.

He might throw up.

He quickly gets up to go get the taste out of his mouth by putting his mouth under the kitchen sink. This made the Narrator worry as he went to go over to him to somehow comfort him.

Perhaps he should have drained the Vinegar out first and then rinse the container out with water.

This lasted a good few minutes of Stanley almost throwing up and the narrator rubbing his back. Stanley crouches over the kitchen sink, spitting and rinsing the taste out of his mouth. With the sound of coughing.

Then they were met with silence as Stanley try to find his ground from this sudden incident. He has no energy to deal with today and what he wouldn't give to go back to bed again. But he knows he can't or else he makes the other worry.

Boy does he make him worry?

And who can blame him, he died so many times and they were here. Though all the problems in his head weren't fixed there was this nice feeling of his presence. The way he rubs his back. The attempts to be part of this life. The kind offer he does.

It does help him want to stay here a bit more. That there was some sort of good left in this terrible world they live in.

Slowly he stands back up and leans against the other shoulder, feeling a hand gently rub against his hair. His eyes grew a bit heavy as he close his eyes for a bit. Relaxing there in his arms.

"Narrator..." He mutters.

"Yes, Stanley?"

"You're not allowed to touch my coffee maker again got it?" He smiles slightly.

The narrator went a bit red in embarrassment. "Right, right won't happen again. For now, let's get you back to bed. You look tired." He then tries to guide Stanley back to bed.

"Maybe because you try to poison me?" The other jokes.

"That's a bit dramatic just to say I messed up the coffee machine." He stated as he get him back to bed and put the cover back over him.

Stanley holds out his arms to him and hums, going nonverbal.

"What?"

Stanley waves his arms around and his humming gets louder. The Narrator sighs softy before getting into bed with him, just to cuddle with him for however long it need to take to get the other out of the little state he was in.

Again, just a regular Saturday, following just as scheduled.
