Work Text:
"And then with my acid - wait you guys are listening right?" Mina said, making sure everyone was paying attention for her to continue her story. After she earned a few nods and smiles from everyone, Mina continued on.
The girls of class 1-A were gathered around the main room, talking amongst themselves. About their quirks, ambitions, boys and girls. Mina Ashido talked to the girls, being the loudest one. She was always the one to start conversation and make things a little more lively. The girls gawked and ooed at Mina's story of how she improved her powers. Now she learned how to create intricate shapes with her acid ability. Scanning the room, Mina noticed a party member missing from the group, and she knew exactly who it was. Her yellow pupils flickered and she saw Kyoka Jiro sitting by herself away from everyone.
Mina knew she usually sat by herself, but she noticed that she wasn't looking too good. She couldn't put her finger on what it was but her intuition could tell something was off about her. Maybe it was how tightly she was gripping on her knees that her knuckles turned white, or how she stared down at the floor like she was focused on something. Or focused on not doing something.
Mina should leave it alone to avoid annoying her, but her conscience was telling her to check up on her. Mina wasn't exactly friends with Kyoka - even though she would like to think they were friends - but it was mostly likely one sided since Kyoka was so used to being to herself. Still, she wanted to make sure she was okay.
Once the mood calmed down a bit and the attention was off of her, she had a chance to see what was up with Kyoka. As soon as she decided to approach her, the chair she was once occupying was empty. She figured she must have fled to her dorm, and started going in that direction.
"Hey, Mina, where are you going?" Toru stood up, her floating clothes approaching Mina.
"I'm just gonna go check on Kyoka. She seems a little.. I don't know, gray," Mina said, looking at the direction of the exit.
"Isn't she always like that?" Toru asked, the neckline of her shirt turning to the right which could mean she was tilting her head.
"I don't know.. something seems wrong I can feel it."
"Are you sure she'd even want to be checked on? She's always alone you know."
Mina trapped her lip, "I guess that's the problem.. She's always so aloof. I just want to see how she's doing."
"Well, I guess so. Make sure to give me an update, kay?"
Mina nodded, "I got ya. See ya, bestie!" She waved, before exiting the main room.
In the dormitory hall ways, Mina spotted Kyoka just a few distances away, who was trudging slowly. She looked as if she was hunched over, clutching her stomach tightly.
"Hey, Kyo!" Mina said to let her know that she was approaching so she wouldn't startle her, and jogged up next to her.
Even with that warning, Kyoka still jumped up slightly in surprise, "W-What do you want?" She responded low.
"I just noticed you weren't sitting with the rest of us." Mina said.
"Yeah, I'm always like that," Kyoka remarked, sounding a little annoyed, "You know how I am."
Mina didn't let her tone phase her, instead she just studied her face. She looked very sickly. Her face was really pale, clammy, loose strands of hair stuck to her forehead and her breathing was erratic. She looked like she was in distress. Must be the flu or a stomach virus. The sight almost made Mina frown, but she wanted to keep a comforting face to try and make Jiro feel at ease, "You don't look so hot. Are you okay?"
"M'fine, Mina.. I just-" Suddenly her body lurched forward, a throaty gag escaping her and echoing in the halls.
Mina jumped back and braced herself, expecting projectile vomit to spew but nothing came out of her mouth. Not saliva, phlegm or anything. She could see her eyes were wide filled with panic and pain and that's what actually made her frown.
"S-Shit.." Cursed Jiro when it was just a blank, and Mina could tell by her red face that she was embarrassed. She leaned against the wall, screwing her eyes shut and pressing her crossed arms against her aching stomach.
Mina steps towards the side of her, one hand on each of her shoulders, "Come on, let me help you to your room."
"No," Jiro said through a pained groan, moving her body away from her grip. She tried to walk away but only managed to slide forward down the empty hall. Slow and zombie like, "M'fine. I can walk."
"Um, you can barely walk," Mina said, catching up to her and holding her by the shoulders again, "Just let me help you to your room. You're clearly not okay. You can't even keep your balance."
Kyoka paused. It was a pretty long pause, but Mina didn't want to rush her decision. Her face untwisted and a trembling sigh escaped her lips, "Alright."
Mina smiled softly with a nod. She slung one of Jiro's arms on her shoulders and the girl suddenly let all of her weight fall on her, almost causing a tumble. Mina grunted from the suddenness, adjusting them to a more adequate position to walk, "C'mon, Kyo. You still gotta work with me a little bit, kay?"
"Sorry," Jiro spoke quietly, lifting her body up. Not much weight was subtracted, but Mina only needed a little bit since Jiro was more on the petite side.
"You're good. Just follow my lead alright?" Mina said, taking one step forward, followed by Kyoka's shaky one.
They slowly walked towards her dorm, Kyoka audibly breathing heavily. Mina could feel her shivering under her hands, and tried to walk faster to get her to bed sooner, "Come on, almost there, Kyo."
After a few minutes, they reached her dorm. Mina rattled the knob but it was locked, "Where's your key?"
"In my back pocket," Jiro murmured.
Mina palmed down her back to her jeans, reaching into the back pocket and grabbing a set of keys. She's about to let an exasperated sigh out, but she didn't want Kyoka to feel like a burden. So, after a few tries, she was relieved when one of the keys finally turned. Mina twisted the knob, using her foot to kick the door open and escorted Kyoka inside. She gently lays her down on her bed, then uses the back of her hand to feel her forehead. It burned against it, "Damn.. you're really sick huh?"
Jiro just grunted, curling up in a ball with her arms still on her stomach. Her breathing was still unsteady while her small body trembled. Mina would feel bad if she just left her in here alone, struggling and in pain. She sat on the bed near her feet, a gentle hand rubbing her back, "Need anything? How do you feel?"
"Hot," Jiro answered, weakly trying to remove her shirt.
"Oh," A small blush settled on her face from her trying to strip. Mina sees her struggling and reaches over, grabbing the fabric and pulling it up but stops near her chest, "Lift your arms up, Kyo."
The smaller girl weakly raises her arms up, letting Mina lift her shirt over her head to remove it. Mina got off the bed to take off her shoes, then popped the button off of her jeans, pulling them down over her buttocks and then down her legs. Mina looked over at her palling body. She wore a black sports bra supporting her a cup breasts, she went a bit wide eyed when Kyoka surprisingly had unmatching pink panties, frilly at the waistband. Her stomach quickly heaved up and down. Mina continued to look at her up and down, at her tiny waist and milky thighs, small feet and hands with little, slender fingers that were painted black. Mina felt her face warm up.
Yeah, Mina had seen Kyoka half naked other times before they had dorms, but seeing her half naked in such a vulnerable state was.. different.. to say the least. She didn't know how to describe it. Mina wasn't exactly turned on by it, but she did feel a warm sensation. It was a weird mix of emotions that she did not have time to ponder. Jiro needed her right now.
But man, Kyoka was out of it. Mina knew if she was in her right mind, she would have never let Mina see her this way. Or anyone for that matter. Not just seeing her half nude, but helpless and exposed as well. And now Mina felt like she was taking advantage of her the way she undressed Kyoka with her eyes.
Ashido's thoughts were interrupted when she heard a rough gag from across from her. She went back to her aid, the pink hand returning to her back, "Do you need to throw up?"
"N-No I-" Kyoka's throat convulsed, suppressing another gag and a soft burp came out, "I d-don't."
"Yes you do. You shouldn't hold it in, you know, that just makes things worse. It's called throwing up for a reason," Mina tries to reason with her.
"I hate throwing up." Kyoka whined.
Mina stoops down to her level, "Hey, I know that shit is a pain but you're gonna feel much better after, I promise you Kyo. Trust me."
The reassurance in her voice made Jiro slowly rise upright, her head dangling between her slumped shoulders. Mina lets Jiro lean into her for support, her skin burning against hers. She helped her to her feet and directed her into the bathroom. As soon as they entered, Kyoka immediately fell to her knees in front of the toilet, scooting up so her head was above the bowl. She gagged, but again nothing came out as before and her cheeks flushed in embarrassment.
"Do you have to be in here?" Kyoka grumbled.
"I can leave the bathroom if you want, but I'm not leaving this dorm till you're done." Mina said strictly. Jiro opened her mouth to object, but Mina had already left the bathroom and she didn't feel like yelling or it'd worsen her already explosive headache.
Mina waited outside the bathroom door, sitting on her bed. It was dead silent for a few minutes before she heard Jiro retch again. But she hadn't heard any liquid spill inside the toilet so she was probably still resisting. About 3 to 4 minutes later of dry heaving, there was then a low, agonized groan. It made Mina feel awful inside. She felt like she needed to do more to help, and with that she decided to step in. She slowly opened the door and peeked her head in, "Y'kay? Anything come up?"
"No, it's just- I can't." Jiro says pathetically. The despair in her voice made Mina's chest sting, "I'm trying but I can't."
"Come on, let me help you then," The rest of her body enters the door, kneeling down next to Kyoka. She tries to think of a method, "Hm.. have you tried putting something down your throat, like your fingers?"
"I tried that.. my fingers are too small and I can't do it," She said hopelessly. Mina looked at her fingers that were coated in saliva, indicating that she did at least try.
Then she had an idea. It was gross but it could work, "Okay well.. let me use mine. I think they're pretty long," she suggested, wiggling her pink fingers for emphasis.
Kyoka's half lidded eyes lifted a bit at her idea, "But.. It'll get all over you."
Mina shrugged, "So? I can handle it. And besides, I'm your friend and I want to help. Well - if you even consider me one."
"What?" Kyoka's head rose up, tipping back a bit from her nausea, "Where'd you get that from? Of course I do."
Happiness bubbled inside of her hearing that, "Well.. you're just pretty distant and such, ya know?"
"Oh wow. I'm sorry.. I guess you're right.." She said, her speech slow and slightly slurred, "I actually thought you didn't consider me a friend…"
"Huh?" Mina said incredulously, being careful not to be too loud to irritate a headache Kyoka might have, "How come?"
"Well.. you're just always the center of attention all the time-" she gagged, "-and you don't talk to me often," She frowned and that made Mina feel like an asshole.
"I.. I didn't realize that, I'm so sorry," Mina then worked up a smile again, "Well.. that sure was a misunderstanding.. I guess I didn't realize how neglectful I was. I promise I'll be a better friend from now on."
"Yeah. Me too," Kyoka cracked a weary smile and it made Mina squeal inside. They gazed at each other, but the moment was cut short when Jiro's body threw itself over and heaved heavily, making Mina jump.
"Um r-right, back to the task at hand. So, are you gonna let me help you?"
Kyoka collects herself from that chest burning gag and slowly nods, "Y-Yeah.. God, this is gonna be so
nasty and humiliating."
"Hey, it'll be okay. Plus it was my idea," Mina smiled reassuringly, scooting next to her, "Ready when you are, Kyo."
Kyoka made sure she was as close to the toilet seat as possible. Her stomach painfully twisted and her insides curdled, "Y-Yeah, I'm ready."
Mina straightened up, pressing her pink fingers on Kyoka's lips. The musician reluctantly opens her mouth, allowing the digits to enter past her teeth, over her tongue and towards the back of her throat. Anxiety rose up within Jiro, feeling the vomit travel up her throat. A gag forced out of her, her throat spasmed and only a few strings of bile dripping out of her mouth and into the bowl.
"You're still trying to resist, Kyo. Try to relax your throat, m'kay?" Mina said, using her other hand to rub her back.
Jiro whimpered, tears welled up in the corner of her eyes and she nodded. She felt so small, but she just needed this to surpass so she could go to sleep with her stomach at bay. Mina curled her saliva coated fingers down her throat, erupting another gag from the girl. Kyoka tried to move Mina's hand so she wouldn't puke all over it, but her hand stayed sturdy.
"I said it's fine, just let go."
Kyoka's eyes widened, and she gagged once again with the gurgle. She threw her head towards the toilet, a huge wave of hot vomit expelled from her mouth and into the bowl, some missing and splattering on the seat. It was all over Mina's hand and slid down her arm. Mina shivered, but tried not to show too much of a reaction so Jiro won't feel as gross as she did now. She sputtered out a few coughs, choking back a sob at the agonizing burn she felt searing in her throat.
Mina continued to finger at the back of her throat. Water spilled from Jiro's eyes and rolled down her cheeks as she heaved hard and vomited once again. A smaller and more watery wave projecting out, all of it getting in the toilet this time. Mina pulled her fingers out, strings of saliva, phlegm and chunks following. She tried to ignore the reeking smell and gross texture and focused more on Kyoka's comfort.
"So gross," Jiro sniffled and hiccuped, drool lazily dripping down her lip, "Sorry, Mina."
"It's okay Kyo, really! You're not understanding that I want to help," Mina giggled softly, "How do you feel, though? Are you done?"
Jiro still felt heavily nauseous, but more sleepy this time. Maybe going to bed would help. She held her head and turned to Mina, "I-I think I'll be fi-" Another unexpected spout of vomit ejected from her burning throat on its own, splattering it all over Mina's lap and on the floor.
Mina gasped, her eyes shot open wide and her body jolted from the suddenness. She shuddered, feeling the warm puke bleeding through her leggings and touching her skin.
"M'sorry Mina, m'so sorry," Kyoka sobbed and coughed violently. Her voice was sincere, shaky and miserable.
Ashido was frozen in place. She wanted to squeal and run away to her own dorm to take a long shower, screeching 'ew' over and over until she stepped foot in the shower. Yes, she let her vomit on her hand but that was the only place she expected it to be on. Now it was on her favorite leggings and all over her thighs. Mina tried not to think about how filthy the situation was, and had to think about how Kyoka was feeling. She must feel so disgusted and humiliated with herself, "It's fine, it's fine really! I'll just clean myself when I get to my dorm. How about you? Are you feeling any better?" She tried to hide the panic in her voice.
Most of the nausea passed and she was shivering less. Of course she still felt under the weather but her most incapacitating symptoms subsided, "Still sick, but I feel.. way better now. I don't feel the need to throw up anymore."
"See. Told ya," Mina stood up, the vomit on her thighs now sliding down her legs. She tried to get over how gross it was and needed to get them off her skin before she went insane, "Hey, I'm gonna take these off."
Kyoka slowly stands up and nods. Mina took off her shoes and carefully removed her soiled leggings, wearing a pair of purple boy shorts under. Her thighs had bits of sick on them and she grimaced, "Um.. do you have any washcloths?"
A small finger pointed at the rack behind her. Ashido grabbed the rag, wetting it and wiping off her legs. Then she started washing her hands at the sink.
"M'sorry Mina," She heard Jiro apologize depressingly again, "This is so fucking gross and it's all my fault. You probably hate me."
The painful tone in her voice made Mina's heart wrench. She sighed and turned around, "Kyoka, I wanted to help, okay? I knew what I was getting myself into. Besides, you're feeling better now right?"
Kyoka nodded.
Mina then smiled, "Good, then that's all that matters," She continued to wash her hands, now feeling oddly bubbly despite the peculiar situation she was in. She was just happy she helped Jiro feel better. Perhaps this odd situation could bring them closer.
"Mina." She called out. The tone made Mina blush. She sounded so needy for her.
Ashido finishes drying off her hands and turns to Jiro, "Yes, what's wrong?"
Jiro went silent for a second and then shook her head, "Never mind, I can.. get to bed myself."
Mina walked over to her, "It's okay to ask for help."
"N-No, I already put you through too much and.. I-I can do it myself-"
"Well yeah, but do you want to do it yourself?"
She didn't answer, which answered Ashido's question. The acid girl leads Jiro to her bedroom, laying her down on her side.
"You need pants," Jiro pointed out, lazily sitting upright again.
Mina looked down and nodded, "Yeah, you're right I do. Can't go out like this with Mineta running loose." She joked with a small laugh.
"Hm.. I have sweatpants you can borrow.." She pointed at her dresser, then laid back down, "Bottom drawer."
Mina strolls to her dresser, pulling at the bottom drawer and sees a pair of gray sweats. She slips them on, the waist and hips were fine, but the legs were a little small and stopped below her ankles. She didn't mind it too much. Mina goes back to Kyoka's aid and makes sure she's as comfortable as possible, then looks at the door leading to the hallway. She didn't really want to leave, she wanted to stay with Jiro. But then she remembers the vomit all over the bathroom and decides to use that as an excuse to stay a bit. Plus, she'd feel like a dick if she just left a fatigued Kyoka to clean it herself.
"Mina," Kyoka called out once again. Her tone was still desperate but with tinges of sadness, "Where are you going?"
Did Jiro want her to stay? From her voice, that's what it sounded like. Mina's face became warm and she turned around, "Oh, I'm going to clean that puke that's all over the bathroom," she chuckled sheepishly.
"M'kay.." Jiro said, slowly shutting her eyes.
Mina entered the bathroom, the potent smell of vomit making her wince. She looked at the drying vomit on the toilet bowl and a puddle smeared on the floor next to her ruined leggings. Mina sighed and went to work. It only took her about 10 minutes to clean it all up using her acid quirk and she balls up her vomit stained pants and enters the bedroom. Jiro was curled up in the fetal position, fast asleep. Her breathing was slightly nasal but steadier than before.
A soft smile settled on Mina's face and she walked over to Kyoka's bedside. She caresses her hair gently and the girl leans into her touch, earning a blush from Mina.
"She's so cute!!" Mina squealed in her head.
As much as she wanted to stay, it was getting late and she figured Kyoka would be uncomfortable with her staying the night. Plus she needed to wash her leggings. Mina walked out of her dorm, closing the door quietly and started walking towards her own dorm.
"Hey, girl!" Called a familiar voice from behind.
Mina turned around and saw a pair of clothes floating and running towards her. Toru's arm sleeve lifted up, and Mina knew she was waving. The invisible girl stopped in front of her panting slightly, "Sooo, how did everything go?"
"Everything went okay," Mina shrugged, still smiling.
"That's good. But.." She heard Toru sniff the air, "Why do you smell like that? Smells like barf."
Mina laughed awkwardly and rubbed her neck, "Welllll, Kyoka got a little sick, and.." She held up her grimed leggings.
"OMG, ew, she puked on you!?" Toru exclaimed and backed away from Mina.
"Yeahhh, but it's fine. Was kinda my own fault anyway. I stayed and tried to help her throw up."
"Gross, really? Wow, you're way better than me. I would have just helped her to her room and left."
"Yeah.. but she was in pain and I had to help her. As a hero you gotta help people, y'know? No matter how disgusting it is."
Toru paused for a second and then the neckline of her shirt moved up and down, "Hm, didn't think about it that way.. I guess you're right, Mina."
"Well, I'm gonna wash these then head to bed. Night, bestie!" Mina waved.
"Night bestie!"
________________
The next day was Sunday, so that meant no school. There was this quiz Mr. Aizawa assigned for them on Monday, but Mina was not planning to study for it, as usual.
She was walking over to Kyoka's dorm, the gray sweatpants she borrowed were washed and neatly folded on her hands. Mina arrived in front of her door, knocking on it.
"Yoo-hoo, it's me, Mina!" She said outside of the door. She heard shuffling behind the door and then footsteps approaching, and Mina felt herself starting to feel giddy and a little anxious. She didn't know why she was starting to feel this way, her hands becoming clammy and her heartbeat quickened. The door opened and she smiled warmly, "Hey, Kyo!"
"Oh, hey Mina," Kyoka said, seeming a little bit surprised that she was at her door. She removed one of her earbuds, "What are you doin' here?"
Mina was happy to see that the color returned to Kyoka's face, looking very much healthier, "Just giving back your sweatpants, and I wanted to check and see how you were. You were basically dying yesterday."
Pink dusted Kyoka's cheeks, and she took the garments out of Mina's hands, "Oh.. I don't think I'm sick anymore. And sorry for putting you through that, it was so fucking gross. I'm surprised at how calm you were. I thought you'd hate me after…"
"Hey, don't sweat it! I've told you a bunch of times that I wanted to help you. It was bound to get messy," Mina said and was taken aback from a surprise hug. Kyoka didn't even like people touching her, and the fact that she made the first move was really saying something. It made her feel pretty special. Mina wrapped her arms around Kyoka's small waist, laying her head on her shoulder. She kind of smelled like leather, and that particular scent that surrounds musical instruments. After a few moments, Kyoka was the one who broke the embrace, both having red faces.
"Sorry about that, I just-"
"You're good! I liked it."
"Well.. it's just.. thank you," The musician smiled and Mina knew it was pretty rare to see her smile, especially one so genuine. And for it to be because of Mina made her ecstatic, "Nobody noticed I was sick except for you. I don't even know what would happen if I did it alone. And I was being an asshole and didn't let you help but even that, you still helped me."
"You're so welcome, Kyo!" Mina squeaked, "And it's totally fine, I know how you are. But I'm glad you let me help you."
Then the two young women just stood there, gazing at each other. But it didn't feel awkward at all. Kyoka was smiling softly at her, body relaxed and content in the moment. Mina was smiling brightly, bubbly as usual. She thought about leaving before it got awkward, but she wanted to see Kyoka more.
"Hey, you doing anything later?" She asked.
Kyoka shook her head, "Nope. Not really."
"Oh, so you're not planning to study either," Mina laughed and so did Jiro. It sounded nice. Soft and authentic, "Well.. do you maybe want to… hang out later today? You know, since we're working on trying to be closer and such."
Kyoka rubbed her neck, "Really? I don't really go out on dates often.."
"A date?!" Mina exclaimed and felt her cheeks heat up, "I wasn't asking for a date.. unless you wanted it to be.. I don't know, I'm talking crazy, ha!"
"I didn't say I didn't want to," Murmured Kyoka and she averted her eyes away.
Mina's eyebrows shot upwards, "Whoa, so you're saying you wouldn't mind going on a date?"
"K-Kinda.. isn't a date just two people hangin out? Doesn't have to be romantic.." Kyoka still avoided eye contact.
That made Mina feel slightly disappointed, "Oh, yeah you're totally right. Well, what do you say? Are ya up for it?"
Kyoka nodded, "Yes. It's a date, Pinky."
Mina smiled at that, "Cool, I'll let you know the details later. See ya!" She waved.
Kyoka gave a small nod and turned around to go back to her room. Her door was about halfway closed before she stopped in her tracks, whipping around and lunging towards Mina to plant a quick kiss on her cheek. Then in an instant, she fled to her room and the door slammed, leaving Ashido there, stunned.
Mina's face flared red and her body stiffened. She touched the spot Kyoka kissed, "Ha.. Cool.."
