Mark Of the Demon Lord

"The Mark,"

TK collapsed upon his bed after a long day. Well, long wouldn't be the word he'd used since it was nothing but fun in his opinion. He got to hang out with his brother again, and in term got to see all the others too. Even though it hadn't been that long ago since his trip with him to visit their grandma. It wasn't a bad trip, well except when a crazy Digimon went on the loose. Not that he ended up doing anything in the end. That's not fair to say though considering that Patamon was the one who got hurt. He hates fighting but he has begun to understand when it was necessary. Is his own hesitation the problem. After all, his partner MagnaAngemon was able to fight off Piedmon long enough to restore the others.

Although he felt bad still. He felt bad that Patamon got hurt, again. Patamon got hurt because he couldn't protect him. He knew that Patamon is supposed to be the one to protect him, but why could he never do something to help him. Why couldn't he really help his friends as much as he wanted to? Sure, he supposed being the Crest of Hope is important. Yet, he doesn't quite feel that way. TK begins to drift off to sleep. Suddenly a glow came from the top of his chest. The spot where his crest glows, however, the light given off by this crest was not from the Crest of Hope. The glow wasn't a bright golden glow, but instead an orange one. TK's eyes twitches while they're closed. Whatever this new crest is, it was giving off a bad vibe that TK instinctively didn't like. A sudden chill running through his body.

TK stood somewhere he's never seen before even through everything he's been through in the Digital World. He sees a sky with a harsh violet color with a black sun beating down. Despite the sun bearing down on TK forcing him to avert his eyes. He feels cold. He shivers, not understanding how in this desert with the sun bearing down on him that he could actually be cold. He scans around looking for someplace that may provide warmth. Everything looks so far, so flat, and not even a cloud in the sky. As he is about to complete a full rotation, he notices a large black swirling darkness before him. It was akin to a dark fire that burned without needing fuel at all. It was surprising to see. TK wasn't sure what to do

"Hello there," came a dark voice. Its origin was unknown, but TK felt it may be coming from the swirling darkness. It was so huge honestly couldn't see anything past it as he approaches. His body still cold but drawing closer to the darkness provided warmth. Even if TK really, truly, wanted nothing to do with it.

"Who are you?" TK asks, teeth chattering when he uttered his last word.

"Someone that can help."

"Help with what?" TK asks the voice.

"You see this domain you are in. This is where I call home, where I reside. How does the weather feel to you?"

"F-F-FFreezing!" TK responds.

"Funny, to me it feels like there is no place hotter that could exists..." the voice responds. "It is a tortuous place and I would like to ask for your help in getting me out of it. As you are the only person with the power to do so."

"I am?" TK questioned surprised. He'd sooner believe Kari would be the one selected for such a task not himself.

"You doubt your own power?" the voice says, a bit in distaste from the sound of the tone.

"I'm just...not sure if I can help you..." TK admits.

"Does this form look familiar?" the voice questions. The Darkness swirls in a circle in front of TK for suddenly the sand rises up bearing a striking resemblance to MagnaAngemon.

"MagnaAngemon, you know my partner?" TK questioned.

"Child, your partner if anything is a cheap imitation. When I was a MagnaAngemon, I was regarded as the Sword of Judgement. Before evolving..." The sand before TK loses form before dropping to the ground before it rises again into a new form. TK's mouth drops upon seeing the form before him. "Into my final form. Recognize the breast plate?"

TK looks and sees, there in plain view, the Crest of Hope on the angel's chest. "Who is this?"

"Seraphimon, the highest-ranking angel and closets to the divine being. So, you see, the power you use, was once the power I wielded as well..." the voice spoke.

"So, that's how you know I can help you..." TK says now understanding more.

"Now that you understand will you help me?"

"How can I help you?" TK asks.

Suddenly the huge overpowering wall of darkness suddenly begins moving faster. Swirling and kicking up wind as it moves. The winds feel like a blizzard with sand to TK as he finds himself suffering under the conditions. However, something happened that surprised him. The darkness rushes over towards him, and he felt warmth. The darkness brought...comfort?

How?

An orange light appears before him as it floats gently towards TK now outstretched hands. TK could feel an emotion he's not quite used to feeling from this item. It was filling him with an anger he wasn't sure he could handle.

"Accept this Crest, let our powers merge and work together. This way I may receive my freedom and you will receive my aid in helping you develop your powers further."

"Oh, like partners!" TK says now understanding more.

The voice groans, "I suppose if that helps you understand. Also, I will need you to keep this Crest on your chest a secret. If anyone found out they would push you away. After all I'm sure you know by now, I am a being of darkness, and you don't want them to do that, do you?"

TK shakes his head.

"Good. Now for the next few days I want you to continue your life as normal. Don't change anything just because I'm here,"

"But who are you?"

"Currently I am known as Daemon."

Chapter 2: The Mark II

Chapter Text

On the same very same night.

Kari is fast asleep on her bottom bunk bed she shares with her older brother Tai, who was also fast asleep above her. She begins to toss and turn in her sleep. Unbeknownst to her, her body seems to shine briefly. As if the light was flickering on and off. Suddenly, a glow begins to resonate from her chest, but it was not her usual Crest of Light. It glows green as if fighting against the natural light she exudes. The moon's light shines into through the glass door of the room, and the light hits Kari. She groaned slightly, but not enough to wake up Tai.

Within her dream Kari' stands in a beautiful oasis, but the oasis wasn't some place in the outside. She could see stone walls surrounding the oasis. Seeing the small waterfall entering into a smooth spring that runs the length of the place, green grass billowing along the bank. She walks toward the water bank to take a closer look at the billowing brook. She bends down to reach into the water feeling the cool water against her skin. She was a bit surprised, she had thought that she was asleep in her bed. At least, that was the last thing she remembered. She looks up to see there is no ceiling, but a full moon shining down upon her.

"Hey there cutie. What seems to be troubling you?" comes a voice. Kari jumps look around, but not seeing anyone.

"Hello?" She questions. "If you're hiding you can come out!"

"Oh, dear girl, I'm not hiding just look up." Kari returns her attention to the shining moon above.

"You could say, I'm quite the bright light against this dark backdrop."

"Wow, so am I dreaming?"

"Yes, I reached out to you through a special connection we have."

"Special connection?" Kari questions. At her question the waters before her begin to stir. She looks down to see the water begin to rise and take shape. Kari watches the blob before it finally takes shape into a familiar figure. "Angewomon?" Kari questions.

"You see dear girl, I was once a being of light. Well, saying I was a being of light would be a bit of an understatement. Although, I'm sure you may know what I mean."

"So, you're a Digimon, just like Angewomon?" Kari asks.

"I was once, a long time ago I evolved to become a beautiful angel," the water shape shifted and changed until a new angel's figure appeared. Kari's mouth dropped seeing her.

"So pretty..." Kari mutters.

"Why thank you dear," the voice says with an amused snicker. "A compliment is always a good way to earn my favor. I must say, I can already tell you will grow into a beautiful young woman yourself one day."

Kairi blushed, "Oh, thank you."

"Now dearie, while I have you here, I was hoping to you could be able to help me."

"You need help?" Kari asks concerned.

"Yes, you see, though I have done my best to make this place a paradise of sorts. One cannot truly be in paradise if they are in a prison. Long ago, before even your parents' parents were even born, there was a great and terrible war in the Digital World. Many things changed because the result of that outcome. I lost the powers of Light and was thrown in this dark place. I sensed our kinship and was hoping you would be able to help me. Then I can in turn help you."

"Help me with what?" Kari questions.

"Help you in the coming fight. There are forces making their move against your friends. Admittable, I fear I am the only one who can actually sense it. Not to worry though, you and I won't be alone. A friend of mine will shortly be making the meeting of a friend of yours."

Kari, stares back up at the moon. She's been in contact with mysterious beings before. She's honestly not sure if she should trust someone so easily. Even if Kari feels like there is clear malice in this Digimon's voice. It also sounded like someone trying their best to sound that way. Is this a Digimon that she shouldn't trust? Kari honestly isn't sure. Judging so soon after only hearing their voice. It was honestly a hard call for her to make.

"I think...if what you say is true, then I think we should work together! Even Digimon like Numememon turned out to have good hearts, so I'll believe you do to."

The voice suddenly grows silent. Kari at first isn't sure if she upset the Digimon or not since she can't see a face. Before she can ask, the feminine voice giggles, "Well sweety, stick with me, and I shall see that your desires are met."

"What will I call you? How about that being one of the things I want?"

"My you catch on quick. Call me Lillithmon."
