Exploring, learning, and become a part of loving family, Lumi's adventure was just getting started, especially when Liko and Roy joined in with the happy, fun-loving-family crew of Rising Volt Tacklers. Chapter 1: Armarouge and the Little Candle Light : Chapter 1

Chapter Text

Opening his blue eyes, Armarouge looked around from behind the semi-military school’s dorm ‘Cuore Coraggioso’ walls for ‘anomaly’ children.

‘Oscar’, as what the humans called him, is one of the guardians of the school. Hiding in the shadows while looking after the school, students, and prevent trouble from brewing.

Usually, guardians of the school, pokemons like him and others, never gather together in one place for too long since the school is massive like a castle and they are needed everywhere. But today.. today they all gather in one place to see and memorize the new students who just arrived at the courtyard.

The new students aren’t always young, considering ‘anomaly’ people’s power usually didn’t manifest until they were at least 11 or 13 year old, or sometimes even older. But today.. Oscar saw one of the youngest child he has ever seen to attend the school.

A 5 year old girl with beige yellow hair and auburn strands while her eyes are yellow green colour which observing her surroundings with the spark of interest.

“So young..” a Skeledirge named Adriana, murmured nearby.

“Does she really have an anomaly?” a Bisharp named Marcos, said with doubt and wary laced in his voice. He also was the most cautious guardian from all of them, so that was not new to him.

Oscar didn’t comment on the new girl but studied her with scrutinizing eyes.

He just hopes this one isn’t a troublemaker.

Oscar should’ve seen it coming.

The girl.. she’s too young to have an anomaly and lack control of her powers.

She has a few, the guardians knew it. They sense it. But the girl only managed to spark off a trail of blue lightnings around her feet before she dissipated them with a look of nervousness on her face.

She was afraid to show her anomalies and lose control of her powers. That much was what the guardians picked up from the last few days. But it’s infuriating her Anomaly Control teacher, who has no patient to young children like her.

“I’ve told you Miss Lumina, let it go one of a time! It’s not that hard.” The teacher, Argus, said with as much patient as he has, which none to her.

‘Candle light..? so that was her name’ Oscar thought to himself while observing the lesson’s progress, which.. was not much.

“Yes, Sir..” Lumina, as the girl was called, tried and tried, but can’t let go anymore of her powers.

The teacher sighed at the end of the lesson hour and dismissed her. Lumina thanked him quietly and quickly scurried out of the gym. Oscar was about to follow suit, but he stop when he saw the Headmaster come and went straight to the Anomaly Control Teacher.

“How is it for her first day Mr. Mark?” Headmaster Clavell, asked.

Mark sighed and told everything to the Headmaster who hummed in understanding, “It might be hard to teach her now, but we must understand that she was also got abandoned because of her anomaly powers. Thankfully she’s already adopted, but that kind of mental scar ran deep. Her adoptive father didn’t want to get her in school so soon, but the region Head Police insisted because of the signs she showed when she was only 2, and again when she was 4 when her anomalies were first manifested. She has dangerous powers and she needs to learn how to control it in public at the very least. Please be patient with her Mr. Mark.”

Oscar’s mind processed all of what he heard before he walked out of the gym. He needs to go back to his duties.

Everyday after normal lessons with normal students were done, the anomaly students went back to their dorms and has after lessons about their power that they possessed. It was usually done privately for the younger ones and the ones who has no control over their powers yet. Including young little Lumina..

Lumina struggles with it and Mr. Mark didn’t seem to have any solution for her..

Oscar have been observing her the most, especially since she’s been the youngest one in the dorms for anomalies.

There are 2 dorm buildings on each side of the school which the school itself separated by being in the middle. One dorm for the anomalies which is obligatory for anomaly power children, while the other dorm for normal non-powered children which is an option but not obligatory. The school building itself and the classes are attend by both anomalies and non-anomaly students with no separation.

Oscar, Adriana, and Marcos are three of the many permanent guardians for the anomaly dorm and school, while Julia the Dragapult is one of the few guardians who guard both anomaly and normal dorms, and of course the school. The 4 of them, by coincidence or not, knew and look after young little Lumina the most.

Lumina who lacks control of her power sometimes sprouted off strays water and lightning which sometimes made fire when the lightning rubs against something flammable, and one of the guardians who were nearby will immediately dissipate it before the fire grew too big or clean the stray water or lightning so it won’t hurt another student.

By then, Oscar should’ve realized the young girl would notice their presence. So it should’ve been no surprise to him when the girl approached the shadow he was hiding in and smiled brightly,

“Hello, my name is Lumi, what’s yours?”

Oscar blinked his blue fiery eyes, “Oscar.”

Lumi grinned, “Hello Oscar! Nice to meet you.”

Oscar blinked again. He shouldn’t be surprised as well from this. He knew that anomaly people could understand pokemon speech, but even then, Oscar just blinked and stays quiet, but he gave her his full attention.

“Uhm.. I- well- thank you for helping me around Oscar, and for the others too. I tried to meet the other guardians, but they always hide before I reach them. This is the first time I managed to meet one though!” Lumi grinned, “Uhm, Oscar? Can you tell the other guardians that I a-appre-ci-ate their help as well? Really, really thank you, and to you too Oscar, I noticed you around a lot and it makes me doesn’t feel so alone anymore, so thank you Oscar.” Lumi smiled gratefully, but her smile turn into slight haste panic when a bell rang throughout the dorms building.

“Ah! I forgot about curfew!” Lumi was about to ran ahead to her dorm room, but Oscar grabbed onto her arm gently before patting her head and led her to her dorm room with a calm steady pace.

Not a lot of students noticed or even approached the guardians of the school since the students isn’t allow to catch them. Most of them are more interested with the pokemon who are not the guardians and roam around the school or dorm grounds, which they are allow to catch IF the pokemon agrees and would built into a mutual connection between the trainer and the pokemon. Teachers usually keep track on this.

So it was a surprise for Oscar that the youngest child in the dorms noticed and thanked them for what they do.

It was their responsibility for the school afterall..
