Work Text:
A couple of hours after the game, Thiago was feeling much better. He even managed to get out of bed and join his teammates for dinner.
“It’s a good thing you didn’t get that sick, man,” Tsimikas told Thiago as the two climbed up the stairs. “I’d miss you too much otherwise.”
“That soup works wonders. I swear Mona is a miracle healer or something.” Thiago smirked, remembering how surprised he’d been to find quinoa in his vegetable soup. “But Darwin needed somebody to translate those instructions.”
“Of course he did.”
As usual, Tsimikas reached the top of the stairs before Thiago was even close to the top. Tsimikas bobbed his head to some invisible beat as he watched Thiago carefully climb the steps. “How’s Stefan?”
“Stef’s still pretty tired.” Thiago finally reached the top of the stairs, clinging to the stair banister like it was old and rickety. Tsimikas wasn’t surprised; his friend had never liked heights or staircases. “The poor kid got it the worst. As if an adductor injury isn’t enough, he gets sick on top of it.”
“I know.” Tsimikas opened the door to the bedroom where Bajcetic still lay in bed. “You good, bud?”
“Tio!” Bajcetic dragged himself to a sitting position, smiling at the sight of the two men he considered his pseudo-fathers. “I can’t believe I missed dinner. It smelled so good …”
“Don’t worry, we saved some curry for you.” Tsimikas sat on the foot of the bed, holding up his phone. “Although Mona did try to serve us tempeh again. Joel freaked out while Milly walked out of the room.”
Bajcetic yawned, sinking into the covers. “I can see Milly doing that.”
Thiago yawned as well, leaning against the wall. “Well Stefan, you’ll feel better in the morning if you get some sleep now. Sleepover?”
“It’s only a full-size bed.”
“Whatever.” Thiago flopped next to Tsimikas, letting his legs dangle off the edge of the bed. “I think we can manage this way.”
“Si, si si, buenas noches, tipos.” But nobody heard Tsimikas’ attempt at sneaking into the Latino Reds. Bajcetic and Thiago, ever the heavier sleepers of the trio, were already out and dozing.
