Work Text:
Dongsik wakes up when the sunlight from the half open curtains shines on his face.
Slowly, his eyelids flicker open, blinking slightly at the bright light. He attempts to sit up, only to be stopped by the arm wrapped around his middle. Rubbing his eyes slightly, he looks to the side where Juwon is still sleeping. Quiet snores leave his slightly parted lips.
Dongsik sits up slowly, carefully, so as to not wake up his sleeping prince. He raises a hand to ruffle Juwon's soft, sleep-messy hair. Juwon sighs and murmurs something in his sleep, snuggling further into his side, his arms tightening around waist slightly. A warm smile graces Dongsik’s lips at the sight.
Soon, Dongsik manages to free himself from the clutches of his lover without waking him up. He puts on some underwear, along with a pair of Juwon's sweatpants that bunches up at his ankles (this tall brat), and pads to the kitchen quietly.
This time, he stayed over at Juwon's apartment. Having been in Seoul for a job, he decided to meet up with his lovely Inspector Han for some dinner, and was persuaded (quite easily) into staying over.
Upon reaching the kitchen, Dongsik proceeds to look through his prince’s (seemingly always well stocked) fridge and decides that they’ll have a simple kimchi jjigae and rice for breakfast. He even finds some enoki mushrooms (Juwon absolutely loves them) and decides to add them into the stew.
About half an hour later, the spicy, savoury stew is done and Juwon's whole apartment smells like it, like home. It won't be long until the young prince wakes up.
Humming softly, Dongsik finds himself back in front of the fridge. He spies a carton of eggs, and decides to make some egg rolls. He takes a few out, kicks the fridge door close, and heads to the sink to wash them. He cracks them into a bowl, seasons them, and whisks the eggs with a pair of wooden chopsticks. Slowly, he pours the egg mixture into the hot pan little by little and rolls it carefully.
Shortly after, Juwon emerges from the bedroom, rubbing the sleep from his eyes.
"Is the young prince finally awake?" Dongsik asks teasingly when he notices Juwon enter the kitchen.
Juwon comes up behind him quietly, and wraps both of his arms around Dongsik's waist. A fluffy head of hair presses against his shoulder as the soft fabric of his (read: Dongsik’s) oversized flannel brushes against his back. A fond smile paints itself on his lips at his lover's warm embrace.
Everyone thinks that Dongsik is the clingy one in the relationship. Sure, he always holds Juwon's hands, hugs him, and kisses him any time he can.
But Dongsik knows otherwise.
Contrary to Han Juwon's cold, prickly exterior and princely image, he is rather a clingy and cuddly creature. Especially in the morning.
"Did you sleep well, Juwon-ah?" he asks softly. Behind him, Juwon yawns sleepily.
Nodding into his shoulder, "The bed was cold without you, though," Juwon murmurs sleepily, deep voice coming out slightly raspy, sending wonderful shivers down Dongsik's spine. Juwon lifts his head up, bleary eyes peering at the stove. "What are you cooking?"
"Egg rolls. The kimchi jjigae is on the table, I added enoki mushrooms to it. The rice will be done in a few minutes."
"Sounds good, hyung," Juwon hums out sleepily as he presses his head back onto Dongsik's shoulder.
A comfortable silence falls upon them. For a moment or two, Dongsik felt worried that Juwon had fallen asleep standing up. But the thought dissipates when he feels soft lips gently kissing the skin of his bare back, near his shoulders; his scapula.
"Yah, Han Juwon. Do you want me to burn these eggs?"
Dongsik feels him shake his fluffy head a little but, before continuing to press soft kisses on his skin.
"They say that the scapula is what's left of our angel wings," Juwon says softly. His voice is slightly muffled, with sleep still evident in it.
Ah, this adorable kid.
"If I didn't know better,” Dongsik drawls out lazily, “Juwon-ah, are you calling me an angel?" he asks teasingly, hands moving in a familiar rhythm as he places the egg roll on a plate.
An angel? Now that's one thing that nobody calls me. Usually it's, he thinks to himself as he turns the stove off and reaches for a knife to cut the egg roll into smaller pieces, lunatic or nutjob.
He feels Juwon rest his head against his back more firmly, hair brushing against his skin once more. "My angel," Juwon mutters, lips still grazing the other's skin gently.
Now. Dongsik is not one to blush. But at his lover's words, he feels his cheeks heat up. And in his chest, his heart beats wildly. Slowly, he puts down the knife and pushes the plate of eggs away from the edge.
He then turns around to wrap his arms around the other's waist, hiding his flushed face into his lover's neck.
Ahh, Han Juwon. This isn't fair. The sleepy prince is too cute.
"Juwon-ah. Please warn me the next time you say something like that, hm? Surprises aren't that good for this old man's heart," Dongsik chides him weakly, helplessly.
Juwon makes a small noise of disagreement, "You're not that old, hyung."
Happy to be hugged back, Juwon nestles further into the warmth radiating from his lover and kisses his hair softly.
Mornings like this are his favourite.
After a few quiet moments, Dongsik decides to break the silence. "As much as I love having you in my arms, Juwon-ah, we should go eat before the food gets cold," he says quietly.
He pulls away from Juwon's embrace and raises his hands to cup his cheeks gently. With his face in Dongsik's hands, he really looks like a flower. Juwon gazes at him tiredly, his lips pulled into a pout.
And Dongsik's heart absolutely melts. He smiles at him, quite helplessly.
"My pretty flower, why are you pouting?"
Dongsik leans forward and presses their lips together in a chaste kiss.
"I'll give you all the hugs and kisses you want later. But first, we have to eat, okay? Can't let all my hard work go to waste," he says to Juwon, thumbs caressing the slightly pink cheeks.
"Okay," Juwon says softly, leaning into Dongsik’s touch.
With a sweet smile, and another kiss, Dongsik holds his hand and leads him to the table.
