Yuyuko was making her rounds with food, as usual. She was almost always hungry and constantly chewing on something, whether it be a cookie or Youmu’s phantom half. She became this way after she died. She was never like this when she was alive, but she had been dead for a long time now.
Her best friend, Yukari, came to stop by one day. Yukari was the Legendary Boundary Youkai as people called her, or a gap hag because of her age, but somehow made time every day to stop by and talk to her. She didn’t know how she did this, but she enjoyed her company.
“Good Morning, Mistress,” Yukari came in with her fan covering her mouth, but from the edges Yuyuko could see a smile on her face.
“And good morning to you too!” The ghost girl smiled back and let her in.
The Boundary Youkai sat down in a chair, seemingly tired. It had just recently become spring, and Yukari goes through hibernation during winter, so it wasn’t surprising that she was a little groggy.
“You know…I’ve been thinking,” Yukari began to talk as Yuyuko had her full attention on her now. “We’ve known each other for a long time…”
Yuyuko nodded. “Gosh, it’s been centuries since I first met you…” Yuyuko could remember the time the two had first become friends. She was about the same age as Yukari at that time, and even when she decided to end her life, she was still friends with the Boundary Youkai all the same.
Yukari sheathed her fan. “So, if it’s alright with you…maybe we could go on a date?”
Yuyuko blushed slightly. Well, this was a little unexpected. To be honest, she definitely had a fondness for her. But a date? This was taking it to another level! She had always wanted to go on a date with her, but she never had the time or courage to ask her. But, there it was, an offer.
“Oh my…~” Yuyuko shyly giggled and unsheathed her fan in a little bit of embarrassment. “But, where will we go? What will we do?”
“That’s a surprise~” Yukari winked. “And don’t worry about me. My shikigami will watch the place while I’m away. She does it for an entire season, after all.” She giggled.
The ghost smiled and nodded. “Alright. Let’s go on a date.” She was a little nervous. If Yukari took her to a restaurant, she would have to somehow hold her appetite, something that was very hard for her. But, she will try her best.
The duo made it to where they were going quickly thanks to the use of Yukari’s gaps, which enabled them to move anywhere they wanted, essentially. They were now in Former Hell. And the place that they stopped in…made Yuyuko’s heart drop and mouth water.
“Here we are!~” Yukari smiled. The two arrived at the front of a Former Hell buffet. Yukari had a feeling that Yuyuko would like this place…but the reaction she was giving off…now she wasn’t so sure.
“Y…Yukari…” Yuyuko shook. She looked like she was about to cry. “I…If we go here…I don’t think…I…”
“Don’t think I didn’t think about that, silly,~” Yukari put a hand on her shoulder and rubbed it a little bit. “I knew you would absolutely love it here. That’s why I brought you. There’s no need to hold back.~”
Yuyuko wiped a tear from her eye. “You were thinking about…me…?” She looked at her best friend in awe.
“Mhm.~” Yukari nodded and took the ghost by the hand. Her hand was cold, but she embraced it nonetheless. “Shall we?”
Yuyuko took Yukari's hand in return as they went in. The inside was a typical buffet setting, however the walls were painted red, black and gray, just like the colors of hell. At the front, an Oni was waiting. She wore a white shirt and a red and blue skirt. You could see just how intimidating she was, as the shirt she wore was more crop-top like, as you could see her rock-hard abs. She met the duo with a friendly smile.
“Hey! I think I’ve seen ya before, have I not?” The Oni smiled, looking at Yukari.
“It’s a possibility.” Yukari spoke back.
“Well, I see your friend is extremely eager to dive into some food!” the Oni chuckled as she looked at Yuyuko staring right at the huge display of food.
“Ahem.” Yukari cleared her throat and pulled the ghost close. “You mean my date?”
“Oh!” The oni sweatdropped. “Sorry ‘bout that. Didn’t know you two were like that. Anyway, the name’s Yuugi, and welcome to the Former Hell Buffet! Your payment is…”
Yuyuko shook again, this time, in excitement. She couldn’t wait to eat all of the food! And, spending time with her best friend…but she felt something else was blooming in her heart. Longtime feelings were creeping up. Feelings for Yukari she had kept inside for centuries were finally starting to show…how would she hell Yukari that?
“Yuyuko?”
The ghost snapped out of her daze. “H-huh?”
Yukari giggled. “Y’know, I paid already. You can go grab something to eat now…~”
Yuyuko’s face lit up at the mention of food and she zoomed right into the buffet area. She grabbed anything she could get her hands on. She held out on her hunger this long, so why not reward herself? After she grabbed what she could carry, she sat down at the nearest table and started to chow. She was HUNGRY.
But then, when Yukari sat down…she slowed down. She used the utensils that were on the table and used them to cut her food and eat in smaller bites.
To say that Yukari was shocked is an understatement. Yukari was FLABBERGASTED. “Oh my!~” Her face was a look of shock. “How polite of you…”
This was painful for Yuyuko. She was used to wolfing everything down. Why was she now eating like a normal human in front of Yukari, her best friend? It’s those feelings, isn't it? She thought. Her hands shook as she used the utensils.
Yukari giggled. “Are you doing this for me?~ How thoughtful…~” Yukari teased as the ghost blushed, but when she swallowed her bite…
“Yes! I am doing this for you, Yukari!” she spoke. “I want to show you that I can be a kind and polite lover!”
Yukari was taken aback again. Did she say she wanted to be…her lover? Was she hearing this correctly?
Yuyuko realized what she said. All those feelings poured out in a single sentence. Everything she felt before and now came out. She looked down at her food, very embarrassed.
Yuugi walked over. “Everything ok, you two?” She asked.
“Yes.” Yukari spoke.
“Well, what do you-”
“Yes Yuyuko, I love you as well.”
Now it was YUUGI’S turn to be taken aback. “Wh-huh!?”
The Boundary Youkai walked over to the ghost girl. “I know you’ve had feelings for me for a long time, don’t think I havent noticed you doting over me.~” She giggled and took her by the hand.
Yuyuko looked back at her longtime friend and new lover. “Y…yeah…I’ll admit, I’ve always thought about you, regardless of time and place…”
Yukari smiled and wrapped her arms around Yuyuko. She playfully closed her eyes and kissed her. Yuyuko was taken by surprise. She could actually feel and taste Yukari’s lips, as if she were alive. This…isn’t possible! She thought. I’m dead! I can’t feel or taste…but…yet…
The two stayed like that for some time, while Yuugi just stood there in shock. The two broke away from each other, staring deep into each other’s eyes.
“Yukari…” She whispered.
“Yes…?” The Boundary Youkai stayed connected with her.
“Can I finish my food?”
Yukari giggled. She realized that Yuyuko loved food, but not as much as she loved her. She moved her seat next to the ghost girl’s and ate the best meal she ever had. And it was all thanks to her longtime friend, and future longtime lover…
