Chapter Text
Eddie wiped the sweat off his forehead. "I can tell you didnt practice, Harrington." He says as Steve takes his guitar off his shoulders.
"What the hell is that supposed to mean?"
"The guitar, dude."
"I'm still learning, dumbass" He scoffed as he put it away.
"Lord knows how long you've been 'learning' for."
"I've got work I'm sorry I don't have that much time." He said in a clearly unapologetic tone as he went inside the house.
Nancy and Robin glanced at eachother while putting their stuff away. "You guys, ready yet?" Eddie walked towards his van.
They started carpooling and alternating cars to save gas money. Mostly Eddie and Nancy were the ones alternating since still robin hadn't gotten her license yet. Either way, she'd always have shotgun.
"Yup." The girls Said in unison, robin quickly racing to the passenger side seat and getting in. Nancy smiled as she sat in the back behind her. Eddie got in and started driving towards nancys house. "Maybe be a little easier on him, he's been kinda stressed. Y'know he's gotta work and transport the kids, etcetera, etcetera"
"Yeah but he has days off and Nancy takes the kids most the time. He should be practicing every chance he gets, he knows we have a gig this weekend and he has for the past month. He's been learning guitar for like 3 months." He rambled.
"Well, I only actually take the kids when he can't. And I know he tries really hard to practice when he can." Nancy speaks up, defensively.
"Oh, shut up nance. You just want in his pants." Eddie rolls his eyes.
"Eddie!" Robin said.
They always argue. Mostly Eddie and Steve, especially since they started the band. A few months ago eddie and the other members of corroded coffin left. Before they did they told Eddie, "you're always so distracted because of your stupid crush on dick head Harrington. You need to wake the hell up and worry about what's important. Or we're gonna leave, make our own band. Without you." Which obviously lead eddie to Respond with a "I don't fucking like him anyways" like he always does. A few weeks later they didn't show up to practice, which was supposed to be at Eddie's.
Eddie still wanted a band so he called the only other people he knew, that were adults. Then they showed up the next week to play a song together that they'd been practicing alone. When he heard Steve sing for the first time, he immediately fell in love. With his voice, of course, not steve himself. But he was so into it he forgot to come in with his electric guitar. Robin and Nancy giggled quietly. "We see why the rest of your friends left." Robin said when they stopped. Since the rest left and made a new band, they decided to keep "corroded coffin" as their name.
They were all good singers, maybe not as great and beautiful at Steve. But still good. Well, not Robin, she could admit that. "That's why I was in band, not choir" she'd say.
After their first few gigs, Steve and Eddie started to argue a lot more. Maybe it was something about them both being guys and needing power 24/7. Or maybe it was just because they're idiots. But still, they manage to find something to complain about after every practice no matter how perfect it was.
Eddie stopped at Nancy's house, calling out a "say hi to mike for me, will ya?" Like he does every time he drops her off. Getting a "nope" and a sweet smile in return.
Robin and Steve always go on about how much Eddie and Nancy love eachother. Ever since the fight with Vecna, they've been attached at the hip. Obviously, they're similar to robin and Steve. "Platonic. With a capital P." Nancy'd say, making fun of Robin, always giving her a wink to let her know she's joking around.
"Maybe you could help him?" Robin says, once they started driving towards robins house.
"Huh?" Eddie questions, confused by her total randomness.
She rolled her eyes, annoyed. "Help Steve practice. Y'know, with the guitar."
"Why?"
"How stupid Are You? So that he can be ready for the thingy this weekend, dingus."
He pulled into her driveway. "Sure, whatever." He said as she got out and flipping her off, Getting a middle finger back, as she went inside.
He quickly pull out of the driveway and speeds home.
Once he's there he quickly runs inside to the phone on the wall. He dials in the phone number, without taking one second to think since it's memorized. "Come on, wheeler, pick up." He muttered after the 1st ring.
"Hello? Wheeler residence?" A soft, tired voice answered.
"Oh, hey mrs wheeler." Eddie pinched the bridge of his nose.
"Eddie!" She responded, suddenly energetic. "Need nancy?"
"Yes ma'am"
She held the phone against her chest, muffling her, "NANCY! PHONE!"
Soon, Nancy picked up, "GOT IT" she yelled back as her mom hung up. "Hello?"
"Hey nance."
"Hey? Everything alright? You just dropped me off." She let out a soft laugh.
"Yeah I just need your help." He leaned against the wall.
"With?" She ate something on the other end.
"Well first off for saying that thing about Steve." Eddie slid down and sat on the floor.
"Shut up, what do you need help with?"
"Ok fine. Robin said I should help Steve with the guitar." He out stretched his feet and tapped the toes of his shoes together.
"Ok?" Nancy asked, confused.
"Do I do it or no? Is it too obvious?"
"OMG YES DO IT!"
"Jesus-"
"You could like flirt with him and get on his good side, y'know? Well you always flirt with him but still." She cut him off.
"No no no! That not-"
"You will do it, you will call him right now."
"Just- just-"
"Byee" she hung up.
"Wait-" the dial tone rung in his ear. "FUCK" he slammed the phone back on the wall.
