Notes:

I hope this is better than the original! Not only was it my originl, it was my first ever fanfic. In the last 4 years since it originally came out, I have graduated school, been working my ass off, bought a car, ect.

I really hope to be writing more since I want to become a full fledged author and I believe all this writing helps, I hope you enjoy!

(In the first one I wrote Tokoyami wrong the entire time)

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Pained thoughts ran through Izuku’s mind as he awoke from a nightmare. Ever since the summer camp, his nightmare’s have been getting out of control as well as the panic attacks that come with it.

Bolting upright, Izuku reaches a hand up to run his fingers through a mop of what he calls hair. Bringing down his hand to cover his eyes, he can feel the fresh, hot tears still spilling freely. With the nightmare still fresh on his mind, it’s hard to push the emotions away.

This time, Izuku’s nightmare consisted of Katsuki getting murdered by Shigaraki, the latter pulling on Katsuki’s neck through the warp gate at the training camp, directing his deathly gaze on Izuku.

Taking a deep breath, Izuku tries to calm himself down, knowing this will keep up through the night otherwise. Please not right now, I’m, all alone and I can’t do this alone. He thought to himself as he went to lay back down.

Another deep breath, this one comes with a hiccup that causes his entire body to shake. You worthless Deku, you could never be a hero. Katsuki’s past words flash through his mind, making the tears come faster, making it harder to breathe.

All Izuku ever wanted was to save people, but the thought of someone close to him dying when he was right there eats him up.

Every deep breath is becoming useless. Images of Izuku's friends and family dead in a heap of bloody bodies, Katsuki’s right on top, blood still dribbling out of his mouth. He’s unable to control the wild sobs that start rampaging his body, his chest aching with so much pain at the thought of losing his loved ones.

Pathetic.

The word flashes through his mind like a slap across the face.

"You're a useless deku! Pathetic. You could never save me."

Izuku hasn’t heard anything so foul from Katsuki since the beginning of the school year, but that might’ve just made things worse.

Struggling with containing his sobs, Izuku can’t breathe, he can’t think. Katsuki is going to leave him because he was too weak to save him, too weak to save anyone.

Distant shuffling could be heard outside of Izuku’s door, but Izuku could’t hear it through his barely contained sobs, only his thoughts yelling at him.

-------

Two of the boys on Izuku’s floor congregate in front of Izuku’s door, wondering if they should go in or not. “What should we do Tokoyami?” asks the smaller one, looking up towards the other.

Tokoyami looks over at Izuku's door, hearing his sobs getting louder. "We should get Bakugou, it wouldn't be right if we just walked in there ourselves, even if we are his friends." He started, walking over towards the stairs. "Mineta, knock on Aoyama's door and tell him briefly what's going on, he can probably hear Midoriya if I was able to."

Tokoyami looks over his shoulder briefly to see that Aoyama opened his door to talk with Mineta.

Tokoyami took what felt like the longest trek up the stairs to get to Bakugou’s room, only pausing slightly at the third floor when he thought he saw a bunny roaming around.

Once Tokoyami got up to the door, he could already hear Bakugou walking up to the door, stomping lightly along the way.

"What do you want, bird?" Bakugou said loudly while throwing the door open. He’s somewhat quiet given how he normally is, but it is two am after all.

"Please don't call me a bird, and we have a problem with Midoriya."

-------

Are the wall's closing in? Izuku felt like his whole world was crumbling, everything leaving him in rubble.

"I'm sorry Izuku!"

A sob escaped past his mouth, sounding gross even to his own ears as his mind overtook any rational thoughts.

"...go take a swan dive off the roof!"

Crumpling into himself, Izuku can’t imagine what it’s like to breathe. Why did he ever let himself think that he could save the day and be just like All Might? His own boyfriend never used to believe in him, his mom felt sorry for him every day. All Might chose the wrong successor.

With Izuku’s crying not letting up, footsteps could be heard outside his door as the other boys let Katsuki know what they’ve heard, with a soft knock sounding at the door.

"Look, nerd, I'm coming in" the familiar, soft, voice of Katsuki Bakugou resonates through Izuku's mind as the soft click of the door opening and closing was heard.

"Kacchan?" Izuku asked through a hiccup, looking through blurry eyes towards the door where he could barely make out the blonde standing there in the dark.

Sitting up, Izuku watches Katsuki make his way over to him sitting next to the smaller boy with a comfortable closeness only they can have. Izuku’s tears haven’t slowed at all, leaving Katsuki to embrace him as the enfettered tears start falling out.

Katsuki started rubbing Izuku’s back in slow, small circles in hopes it would calm the other one down, resting his head on top of his. Katsuki can feel the shakiness in Izuku’s hands as he grips his shirt near his waist.

Izuku’s crying starts to slow a little, the warm embrace luring him to calm down a little as he moves his face away from Katsuki’s damp shoulder.

"Did you have another nightmare?" Katsuki questions gently, keeping his arms around Izuku’s shoulders, but giving him a little bit of room. The slight nod Katsuki felt by the boy's hair brushing on his chin gave him the answer.

"I'm s-sorryy! I had- hic - a nightmare again and I don’t deserve to become a hero and-mmph!" Izuku was cut off with the abrupt feeling of soft lips against his, cutting off the soon to be rant.

Katsuki pulls away with a slight scowl integrated on his face. "You fucking nerd, you have every right to become a hero. We're a fucking team now you piece of shit, don't think so lowly of me." the teen growls, holding the other teens face in his hands.

Izuku hiccups, causing him to laugh slightly, only to agree with what the angry teen said. “You’re right Kacchan, we are a team.” The glint of teeth can be seen, making Katsuki show the briefest of smiles.

“Now go back to bed, Izu, It’s three in the morning and we have an exam in the morning.”

With that, Katsuki stays, letting Izuku fall asleep in his arms with that wild mop of hair in his face. I don’t deserve this nerd.
