Chapter Text

Kokoro. Friday, February 7.

As soon as the call ended, Kokoro dialed again and when the call connected she didn’t even wait for the person on the other end to say ‘hello.’

“HE HAS A FRIEND!” The opal-haired woman squealed excitedly and danced in place, “Shou, baby, he’s at a sleepover !”

“Who?”

“Hitoshi, of course. Shouta, you are not tired enough to forget your son are you?”

“I meant who is the friend,”

“Oh, it’s Kaminari-san,” A beat of silence.

“Kaminari?”

“Yeah. Not gonna lie, I’m a little surprised–.”

“As in, just-shorted-out-the-whole-dorm-for-the-fifth-time-this-year Kaminari? That Kaminari?”

“I know right?” Kokoro laughed, “Didn’t really think their personalities would get along. But, I mean, look at you and Hizashi. Maybe this’ll turn into the same kind of lifelong friendship you two have!”

“For Hitoshi’s sake, I hope not.” Despite Shouta’s deadpan delivery, Kokoro knew he was happy their purple-haired teen had made a friend -and grateful for his own loud blonde bestie. Hitoshi’s social life, or lack thereof, had been the topic of many quiet conversations between the Aizawas -Kokoro always worrying about him not having anyone his own age to talk to or hang out with, and Shouta always reminding her that Hitoshi was sixteen years old and was perfectly capable of making friends if/when he chose to.

“Oh, c’mon. We both know you love Hizashi -no matter how much you protest or say otherwise. And Kaminari’s a good kid, I think he’ll be a positive influence on Hitoshi.”

“More likely the other way around,” Kokoro’s tinkling laughter floated over the phone; on the other side, Shouta’s lips curved into a small, fond smile.
