Chapter Text
Babies are born with their marks, which can be found on any area of their body.
It depicts the first words said by a soulmate to their other half. It can be a single word, words, or even pages long as it is the first thing your soulmate spoke to you.
Meeting your soulmate represents and invokes a love so strong and pure that it can withstand any suffering and destruction that comes its way. Having a soulmate is a blessing because your soulmate is the person who understands and respects you, embraces you for who you are, and will unconditionally love you.
That is if you were fortunate enough to meet your soulmate. Even with the guidance of the soulmarks, many people have a difficult time finding their soulmates.
The words are sometimes exchanged without either of them realizing they are the one for the other. Searching for someone with only a single word or sentence is not quite as simple as it appears, resulting in a tangled mess of mind and soul.
Amy Curtis March is one of those unfortunate people who has a word that is so common that people use it on a regular basis.
When she was only five years old and getting started with learning to read. She started by reading the word wrapped around her ring finger as if it were a ring.
Hello
She was overjoyed because the first thing her soulmate said to her felt very familiar and compassionate. She is confident that she will easily meet her soulmate.
Only when she meets others for the first time does she grasp the brutal reality of her soul mark.
"Hello"
Numerous others have greeted her, unintentionally reciting her mark. With each greeting, she hopes that they are the ones who are her soulmate, only to feel disappointed when they don't have her words.
But Amy is not discouraged; soulmate marks are assigned based on the initial interaction between two people.
As a result, anytime she met someone who spoke her name, she would respond by introducing herself.
She does not want to cause her soulmate to suffer by looking for her. She would make sure he knew it was her and only her.
Amy eventually started wearing gloves to disguise her soul mark. She flaunted it at first, confidently, but as young males her age began to notice her mark, they would utter her soul mark and act as if they were her soulmate.
She was also tired of the pitying replies and glances she received when other people noticed her mark.
Her common mark is not an obstacle to the appearance of her soulmate; she is positive that her soulmate will appear with her name branded on them.
Even so, every time someone said Hello to her, her heart skipped a beat. She is always hoping that this person will be her soulmate.
But in her twelve years of living in this world, no one has ever responded positively or reached out to her because her name has been written on them. Still, anyone who greets her ignites a small flame of hope within her.
Her soulmate is out there, and she knows it. She is willing to wait for him, even if it takes forever.
'Not really forever,' she thought as she gazed at the young man her sister Jo brought into their home after Meg hurt her ankle.
It was the young Mr. Laurence.
He seems timid and uncertain about what to do with her untamed family, but she remains silent and observes him.
His beautiful black eyes darted around the room, his curly locks slightly frame his face, his perfect nose sitting upright as one would expect from a member of high society, and his red lips pressed into a straight line.
She watched as his lanky but lean frame stood at the entrance of their home, expressing uncertainty and awe.
He seems to like our family, she thought.
She saw his interactions with her sisters, and none of them reacted the same way she did. Her heart felt like it was beating out of her chest, her palms felt sweaty, and her mouth felt dry.
It's the first time she's felt anything like this. The young Mr. Laurence was causing her to discover unknown feelings she didn't know she possessed.
She wants to talk to him, but she is afraid. For the first time in her life, Amy desperately wanted someone to be her soulmate.
She steeled herself, looked him in the eyes, and introduced herself.
"I'm Amy," she said pointedly, wanting to emphasize her name. Make him remember her presence.
She noticed his eyes widen for a split second, but it could have been because he was surprised that someone had introduced herself to him amid the hustle and bustle in the room.
"Hello," he said, smiling at her.
