Elk's Guide To a Zero Mortality Rate & Accidentally Finding Old Lovers

Summary:

Elk, Archie, and Phantom, end up with a problem with a rival gang, the leader of Elk's gang (Elk considers himself the gang leader but in all honesty it’s a self proclaimed title lol), known as simply Ill Fate, (ill fate) and nothing more, has refused to engage in a gang war with the rival gang known as the Copper Foxes (even though their all cats), Elk, short kid & Phantom or- mainly Elk, decide to take matters into their own hands (paws?), with a plan to assassinate the CF's leader, Flix. What a great plan Elk, so smart.-

//
Or, a somewhat lackadaisy & Six of crows inspired fic I decided to write randomly with a shit ton of chaos and probably a few bombs.

Notes:

In case anyone is here from Threads of Mind & Mortals. This is an entirely different universe of my own imagination, with inspiration taken from Lackadaisy by Tracey Butler, Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo, & Firefly Foundations by Peteyybird on Scratch. Please be mindful that these characters are NOT. Necessarily good or bad. They will do morally gray things, and want to remind you. THESE ARE GANG MEMBERS. Set around the time of Prohibition. They may act cruelly or out of their own greed and no one will leave without even a small mark on their criminal record. Now, without further ado, let’s get into this shit show with a very small first chapter.

Work Text:

Elk had two problems: The Copper Foxes and the paperwork he was supposed to finish 4 weeks ago. He flicked his tail, sorting through the stacks of paper scattered across his desk with a huff when the BAM! Of a door slamming open caused him to A: Jump like 15 feet, -although if ever confronted about it, he would ultimately deny it.- And B: throw the papers at said person who’d slammed the door. It was Archie. The not-so-subtle younger who had a strange liking for bright colors and a horrible fashion sense. Oh and he was gay. Very flamboyant about it if you asked Elk.

Jesus Christ Archie! Are you trying to give me a damn heart attack?!” He huffed, walking around the desk, he picked up the loose papers, glaring at the 16-year-old the whole time.

“Sorry not sorry.” the younger simply grinned, swishing the few remaining papers on the floor into a loose pile with his tail. As Elk picked them up, walking back behind the desk.
“What did you need?”

“Sooooo~”

He looked up sharply, glaring at the other. “Spit it out.”

“SoyknowhowthecopperfoxesweretrailingourassforawhilewellImayormaynothaveacciedentlysetoffabombandkilledoneoftheirsharpshooters-“ He said rapidly, tugging at the collar of a his shirt with a nervous grin.

Elk stared at him for a solid 3 minutes. “You. Did. Fucking. What Now?

Archie chuckled nervously “ehehe- oh! Hey look at the time- I gotta go-!” He grinned, bolting out the door with Elk hot on his heels.

“Get back here you little shit!” He yelled, almost running into a wall as he chased the other.

Archie’s only thoughts in that moment were ‘oh shit oh shit oh shit I’m so dead-‘

Flix POV

The ginger tom sat at his desk, looking over the letter he’d received hours before, his mind going through any and every possible explanation for it. He sighed, staring at it defeatedly before ripping it to shreds. Someone popped their head through the door. Augustus. Flix’s right-hand man and basically therapist at this point. He fiddled with his hands nervously before speaking.

“Dustin was flashed.” Flashed. A term for bombed. Flix looked up sharply as Augustus continued, looking him dead in the eyes. “He didn’t make it.”

He sighed once more, rubbing one of his temples. “At least it wasn’t someone majorly important.”

“Wasn’t he a sharpshooter, Sir?”

“Yes, and?”

Augustus shuffled on his feet nervously, biting his tongue before speaking.”Wouldn’t that mean we have to bring in Paris? Y'know he doesn’t do very well with stealth missions-“

Flix stood up sharply, slamming his hands into the table, causing Augustus to flinch. “No.” He said with a cold glare. “I will not be allowing that blithering lovesick fool to be our main sharp shooter.”

“But Sir- we don’t have a choi-“ Augustus cut off as someone else practically waltzed into the room.

The newcomer was small, pure white, and wore a baby blue waist coat and seemed to have more feminine features to him, sharp eyes and cheek fur that pointed outwards like an arrow point, a small nose and a sly grin. Two mother-of-pearl handle revolvers rested on his hips. “I heard my name?”

Flix just groaned, falling back into his chair, pinching the bridge of his nose. (Muzzle?) “No- actually-“ He closed his eyes. “I fuckin hate English- Yes. Yes you heard your name. But that does not mean you need to burst into the room like the fucking police every single time someone says it.”

“Well geez- someone’s salty.” Paris grinned, walking over to the desk, attempting to pat Flix on the shoulder, the other batting away his hand.

“You’re just mad that my fashion sense is better than yours.” He gestured to his own outfit, then to Flix’s white dress shirt, dusty dark blue tie and black waistcoat.

Flix just responded with a grumbled ‘I hate you’ before turning his attention back to Augustus. “As I was saying, I will not be allowing this lovesick foo-“

“I’m not lovesick!” Paris retorted.

Augustus cringed. “Paris-”

Flix glared at him, standing up sharply, pulling out a small, unloaded pistol. -Although Paris didn’t know that- holding it to the other’s temple.

“Shut it.” He snapped, looking back at Augustus. “You were saying?”

The other just gulped, nodding slowly. “Uh- yes- should I like- remove him-”

Flix just nodded, lowering the weapon.

“H-hey what?!” Paris looked frantically between Flix & Augustus.

“I’m just kicking you out, go.” Augustus grumbled, somehow ending up pointing an unloaded gun to Paris’s back, walking him out of the office.

Flix sighed, looking down at the torn remains of the letter from earlier, he began to pick up the pieces, dropping them in the trash can, he looked at a small, tinted picture frame that sat behind a potted plant on his desk, that you were only able to see if you were sitting behind said desk, he picked up the photo with a look that was probably the closest thing to guilt a man like Flix could feel. “We’ve changed, haven’t we old pal?” He put the picture frame back in its spot. It was an old photo, it was of Flix and someone else, they were grinning, the other cat was a pale dusty tan, with dark black spots and bright green eyes.
