Work Text:

Jimin hates waking up in the morning.

When her alarm rings, sending light vibrations into her pillow, she groans quietly and shoves a hand under her pillow to turn it off.

She blinks bleary eyes open. The room is still dark, showing the sun hasn’t even risen yet, but she knows she has roughly half an hour before she needs to be at work.

Nevertheless, she closes her eyes again, wanting to stay in bed a bit longer, and almost drifts off again before mentally shaking herself and reluctantly sitting up, eyes still closed.

She stretches each limb in turn, wincing at the stiffness, and runs a hand through her hair before finally opening her eyes.

As she pushes the blanket to one side, she glances over at Minjeong.

The younger girl is still sleeping soundly. She’s almost completely swaddled under the blanket, one cheek mushed into the pillow and her hair messily splayed over her face. Jimin watches her quietly, the room completely silent save for the sound of their breathing and Minjeong’s occassional snuffles.

She shifts closer to Minjeong’s sleeping form, suppressing a yawn. She looks so peaceful, buried in the blanket.

A smile subconsciously grows on Jimin’s face. She leans down, pausing for a moment to take in her girlfriend’s innocent sleeping face before lightly dropping a kiss on her nose.

She doesn’t mean to wake Minjeong, but her lashes flutter as she blinks sleepy eyes open. Jimin hastily pulls back, only now realizing that she looks like a creepy stalker, hovering over a sleeping person.

Minjeong’s eyes are half-lidded, still half asleep. She doesn’t say a word about Jimin’s questionable position, just reaching a hand out of the blankets and pulling on Jimin’s shirt collar so the taller girl loses her balance and tumbles down on the mattress next to her.

“Ow!”

Saying nothing, Minjeong merely pulls her closer, wrapping the blanket around both of them, and snuggles into Jimin’s side. She closes her eyes and breathes out contentedly.

Jimin loves the way their bodies fit together perfectly. She tangles her legs with Minjeong’s and breathes in her warm sleepy smell.

A comfortable silence fills the room, where Jimin is savoring the warmth of Minjeong pressed against her, and Minjeong is probably halfway to falling back asleep.

Minjeong breaks the silence after a moment. “Were you watching me sleep?” she murmurs into Jimin’s shoulder.

Jimin feels her cheeks turn pink. “No,” she says unconvincingly, after hesitating a beat too long.

Minjeong scoffs in amusement. “Liar.” She lifts her head, blinking the sleep away.

They find themselves looking into each other’s eyes, heads side by side on Minjeong’s pillow, close enough to feel the warmth of each other’s breath on their lips.

Outside the window, the sun finally peeks over the horizon, throwing warm orange light into the room and turning Minjeong’s brown eyes to melted chocolate. Jimin is once again reminded why she loves her so much.

“I like your eyelashes,” she blurts out, because at this close range, she can really appreciate the sunlight on Minjeong’s soft features.

Minjeong’s eyes narrow ever so slightly at the compliment.

“Thanks, they’re the best part of me,” she replies, tone giving nothing away.

Jimin grins, because that was exactly what she’d predicted Minjeong would say. “I’m gonna have to disagree with you on that,” she quips, the corner of her mouth quirking up slightly. The glint in her eyes tells Minjeong exactly what she’s referring to.

Minjeong shoves her shoulder. “You planned that, didn’t you? Charmer,” she mutters into the blanket, hiding her smile.

Jimin props herself up on an elbow so she can look down at Minjeong. “Is it working?” she asks innocently.

“What do you think?” Minjeong whines. She stretches up and kisses the corner of Jimin’s mouth, right on her beauty mark.

Smiling, Jimin drops back down, satisfied. “Come here,” she says, and Minjeong eagerly shifts into her arms and buries her face in Jimin’s neck.

Jimin’s hand finds its own way to Minjeong’s hair. She brushes the bangs to one side, letting the short brown strands slide through her fingers, enjoying the way Minjeong’s eyes slide shut at her touch, just like a cat when you scratch behind its ears.

“Don’t go to work today,” she hears Minjeong mumble. “Stay with me.”

A smile spreads on Jimin’s face. Right now, that sounds like the best idea in the world.

Jimin loves waking up in the morning.
