The first time Abi Borin meets Marisol Delko the girl walks into her investigation, soft curling chocolate brown hair, pale tanned skin and deep brown eyes, her dress just a little too loose. She looks, Abi thinks, terrified but beautiful. She questions her, of course, gently, getting to the truth and escorting the girl into protection.
The second time Abi Borin meets Marisol Delko she’s on her boat, watching the shore. Marisol is on her own boat, relaxing on deck and clearly trying to forget something that stresses her out. The two meet for mere minutes when their boats pass but Abi watches the girl closely.
The third time Abi Borin meets Marisol Delko, she makes her move. Marisol is shy, quiet and delicate again, but this time Abi knows why. Marisol curls a hand into her hair, tucking curls of copper from sea colored eyes, stroking a thumb against her porcelain skin, then leans into the kiss that follows, Abi’s grip tight on her hip and in Marisol’s hair. Passion pulls them together and when Horatio flees it’s easy for Abi to laugh, offer to walk Marisol back to her boat and consider that maybe, just maybe, Marisol is the one she should always have been with.
