Chapter 1: beginnings

Chapter Text

“No, no, no, no, no crying babies, GET OUT!” Abby Lee Miller proclaimed.

Those were the haunting words that Jojo Siwa heard before she left the ALDC building in tears. She wondered what she was doing wrong during dance practice just a few hours ago - she had practised her turns and flips for god knows how long the day before - and now she was being chased out of the building just for voicing out what she wanted to say.

“Well if you’re gonna yell at me, I’m gonna cry.” she had said.

It wasn’t wrong, was it?

Her feelings were valid. Abby Lee Miller had been pressuring Jojo to practice her routine until it was deemed perfect by her. The stress Jojo had felt was too much for her to handle. She had to be perfect, just like one of the other dancers in the ALDC.

Madison Nicole Ziegler, better known as Maddie.

Over time, Jojo had noticed that Maddie Ziegler never had to deal with the demands of Abby like Jojo and the rest of the ALDC had. It seemed off-putting, biased even.

The question right now was why.

Jojo and everyone who had walked through the doors of the ALDC building had probably put their blood, sweat and tears into their routines because Abby said so. She threatened to kick them out of her team if they didn’t come back with a perfect performance score.

A clean performance.

A performance with no flaws.

There was no room for error, Abby wouldn’t allow it.

When it came to Madison Nicole Ziegler? Heck, she was considered perfect. One flaw in her performance was considered a one-off thing, and she wasn’t reprimanded badly by it. She was still at the top of the pyramid, and scored a solo almost every week.

The more Jojo thought about it, the more she felt a little more irked by it. No, she shouldn’t - Maddie was still her teammate, she was still an acquaintance to her - but something about the whole situation made Jojo feel a little more resentful towards her.

It was at that point that Jojo had decided.

She was going to put an end to Maddie’s reign.
