Work Text:
Diego nearly jumped as he heard the door loudly slam shut.
“Y/N, you ok?” he asked, shifting his position on the couch to face where you were standing. It was out of character for you to be slamming doors for no reason, so he figured something was up.
He then heard the sound of footsteps stomping toward him, and he felt you slump down beside him, resting your head against his shoulder. He picked up the remote for the tv, careful not to disrupt your position as he turned off the tv to give you his full attention.
”Is everything ok?” he whispered.
Turns out he didn’t need to be careful of not disrupting your position, as you almost immediately shot up from the couch, pacing around the room as you began ranting.
Diego knew about the shitty job you had. It wasn’t the work that made it shitty, but the people that made it shitty. He listened to every story you told him about what coworker ruined your shift, or what customer tried getting you fired. He moved out when he was seventeen, so he was no stranger to terrible jobs, and knew what it was like to need to vent to someone about it. From past experience, he knew it was never a good idea to keep emotions bottled up, so he would always be there to listen to you.
"He's just such an asshole, Diego. All of them are." you began, frustration dripped with every word, "He just acts like he's so much better than me, yet he still manages to fuck up everything. What's worse, is that he never gets any blame for it!" you vented, before scoffing, "Of course he doesn't, he's been fucking our boss ever since he started working there."
Diego raised his eyebrows slightly. He hadn't heard that story before.
You let out a long sigh, your legs becoming tired from all the pacing, before you collapsed back onto the couch, resting your head on Diego's lap, "Hating things takes a lot of energy." you sighed.
Diego just nodded, "Want me to kill him for you?"
You smiled at Diego, staring up at him with adoration, "Aww, babe..."
"Is that a y-"
"No." you cut him off, your smile not fading in the slightest.
"Why not?" he asked, looking genuinely confused.
"Because you can't just kill anyone who annoys you or myself." you explained, sitting up from his lap to meet his eyes properly.
Diego tilted his head to the side with a grin, "Is it that I can't kill him?" he began, making you groan in annoyance, "Or that I'm not allowed to kill him."
You rolled your eyes, "No offense but I wish you never saw 'Everything Everywhere All At Once'."
"Why not?"
"Because you use that excuse to not do the dishes all the time." you deadpanned.
He shrugged, "Well, am I allowed to cuddle you and watch movies with you?"
You smiled brightly at him, "I think so."
