Work Text:

It's dark out. He's not underground, and for once, he can see the stars. Through a window, but it's still a far cry better than the usual hundreds of feet of ice and metal and concrete separating him from the night sky. It lets him peer out and up, to look out into the cosmos, to sit with his thoughts for a while.

It's both a good and bad thing. On one hand, it's peaceful. On the other hand, it's terrible. He's restless, agitated, worried, still on edge from the events of today. If he could, he'd be up and making trails in the wood grain of the floor with all of his pacing– but, saving grace that he is, Jellie lies cuddled up against his side, deep in a simulated sleep-recharge cycle. Under absolutely no circumstances is Gauge going to be waking him up any time soon.

The young omnic is perfectly at ease nestled in Gauge's shirt, and it's easily the most reassuring thing he's seen in a long while. His son is safe, he is safe, and for once, there's a bit of downtime to try to relax. The world is so large and terrifying, so dangerous and uncertain. As much as he loves the evening sky, he's actually looking forward to the relative safety of the omnium he calls home. He could most certainly do with some normalcy, away from this supposed v acation.

After all, it's not every day you die and get lucky enough to come back. Maybe tomorrow, he'll go buy a lottery ticket.
