Chapter Text

Part ONE // Clean Slate

"I have to tell you something"

Aubrey, Kel and hero stare at Sunny.
"Huh?" Hero says

"Sunny.. you should go back to your room. You can tell us later-"

"It's about Mari" Sunny cuts hero off

Hero is slightly taken a back by sunny "what?" He asks

"Mari didn't die in the way you think she did"

Kel steps forward
"Sunny what on earth are you talking about? Come on, let's go back to your room. You need to re-"

"I killed Mari. I'm sorry"

Aubrey stepped forward
"Sunny seriously, you need to get out of here. Something must have happened to your head. It's best if you get some sleep"

"No... I'm not going back to sleep"

They step backwards and look at Sunny awaiting to hear what he says, Sunny took a deep breath.

"The day before the recital we had a really big fight. I didn't want to perform, I-I wasn't good enough. I threw my violin down the stairs and it broke. Mari started yelling at me about how we can't do this recital anymore. I was so angry and upset, I just wanted her to stop."

He took another deep breath

"I tried to run away from her but she wouldn't let me, so I... and I-I... I pushed
h-her. I pushed her down the stairs. I didn't mean to do it."

Sunny clenches onto his hospital gown, and takes a deep breath

"I tried calling her name but, she didn't answer. Basil saw what happened, he came to try and help us. He decided to stage it, a-as a suicide... I didn't know what was happening. I could not breathe."

Sunny takes a long, deep breather.. and looks up at everyone. They look terrified, he flinched and looked at the ground.

"I understand if you never want to see me again.. I... it took so long to say... a-and you should have known.. I'm sorry."

Sunny looks directly at all of them apprehensively

Kel walks up to him

"Sunny.. you're.. you're not lying, are you."

Sunny shakes his head. Kel steps backwards.

Aubrey walks up to Sunny, he steps back but before he could do anything Aubrey grabs his arm

"Is this some kind of fucking joke?! Why the fuck would you even say something like that!?" Aubrey yells

"Aubrey STOP. He.. He isn't lying!" Kel stammers

Sunny turns his head to look at Hero. He is quivering.

"No, Sunny HAS to be lying. How could you even make us believe something like that... Sunny, say something!!"

Sunny looks down. Aubrey looks up, gasps for air and then runs away. Sunny starts crying, this is what he feared but somehow.. it isn't as scary as he thought it would be.

Hero walks up to Sunny

"Sunny.. what you said wasn't true right?"

Sunny doesn't reply. Hero slowly walks out of the room. Kel starts to follow, but Sunny clings onto Kel's arm.

"Sunny I... please.. just give us some time, okay?"

Sunny looks down and nods

I did it.. It's not just in my head anymore. They know, and they probably hate me for it. But.. now it's out there. I guess I don't need to worry about they're reactions. and somehow.. I feel relief.

"Basil.." Sunny says

After hearing the commotion, he twitches and wakes up. He realises who's there

"Sunny...." He says, voice startled

"I told them.. I told them everything basil"

Basil lifts his body up

"What..? Oh... how did they.." basil says

Sunny smiles. "They didn't like it that much but, it's okay now. I'm not going to run away anymore. We're actually going to be together now"

Basil stares in shock. And before he could get his words out, tears fall down his face. His mouth quivered and turns into a little broken smile.

"Sunny.. I'm so sorry!! I'm so sorry for everything.. it's all my-"

Sunny gives basil a huge hug, he try's to speak but can't stop sobbing.

"I'm sorry too basil, but everything will really be okay now.. we will be okay"

AN: Hiya guys! So I made the first part of this at 11 pm at night lol.  I may or may not come back and re edit sum stuff. this is my first fanfic and I want to make it still mostly canon to the story (ofc with headcanons sprinkled in there). btw!! I'm not American so I might get some spelling wrong but because OMORI is set in America I wanted to keep the same spelling (ex: Mum=Mom, Wardrobe=Closet)
So if I get some of the spelling wrong, I'll make sure to come back and edit it correctly! Anyways, enjoy!!

The morning after Sunny told everyone the truth, Aubrey, Kel and Hero went home.

Kel started doing laundry to get his mind off things. But he couldn't stop thinking about what Sunny had said.. was that all really true? That Mari was killed by Sunny?

It almost didn't feel real, but now a lot of things now made sense.

Basil being so scared an anxious all the time wasn't because of Aubrey.. well although that certainly heightened it, he was terrified about the truth all these years? And last night.. well, I guess he couldn't take it anymore.

I heard from mom that a around half a week later after Mari died, Sunny's father left. His mom was horrified, losing a kid and her husband in just over a week. Did they both know how Mari actually died? Is that why his dad really left?

I almost feel bad.. it's no wonder Sunny stayed in his room all these years. I couldn't imagine how scary it would be if I killed Hero by accident.. let alone being 12 at the time.  I would have no idea what to do either.

Hero sat staring at the bedroom wall with a blank expression on his face. Kel walked into the room with the empty laundry basket. He dropped the basket on the ground and walked over to Hero and sat down next to him.

"Hero.. I'm.. I'm so sorry about all this..." Kel said heavily

Hero continued staring at the wall and then turns into face Kel.

"It's not your fault Kel. I just thought that.. after all these years maybe we could just be friends again. I thought last night things were looking different, happier. But.. Mari she... she.."

Hero's hands tremble.

"Hero are we going to go and.. visit sunny and basil in the hospital?.." Kel says, nervously looking at his fingers and avoiding eye contact with Hero.

"What makes you say that, Kel?" Hero asks

"W-well.. I j-just thought.. maybe leaving Sunny and Basil behind like that wasn't the best idea. they're probably both really scared right now.. a-and I don't want them to hurt themselves.." Kel stammers

Hero stops and thinks, Kel hasn't been this nervous in a long time.

"You know Kel,  all these years I've thought about Mari.. I've blamed myself for her death. I thought I had done something wrong or I.. ignored her cries. But now that I've learned that she didn't kill herself, I feel.. a little relieved. but Kel.. I still.. sigh.. she really died for nothing.."

Kel sat there, nervously watching for Hero's reactions.

"B-But.. I.. I just feel really bad, Hero.  Sunny and Basil they.. t-they all went through so much.. and I've been so bad to Aubrey these last couple days.. I just.. Hero.. I don't.. I don't know what to do.. "

Kel was shaking, then tears started pouring down his face. Hero hugged Kel tightly.

The weeks after Mari died, everyone was distraught. Hero was in bed all day and never took care of himself, Aubrey was constantly walking around Faraway refusing to talk to anyone, Sunny and Basil both locked themselves in their houses.

But me.. I had no idea what was going on. I mean, I understood what was happening. Mari was dead, and everyone was upset. But I felt so weird, I felt like an outsider. Because I had no idea what I was feeling. I wasn't sad, or angry and definitely not happy.  I also thought if I had tried to do something, I would just end up making things worse for everyone else.

A few weeks later,  Mom put Hero and I in therapy. We needed it, and I was able to understand my feelings a bit more.
I've always been an optimist, I try to find good ways to cope with things.  The last four years I've been able to have a lot of new friendships, and even if those friendships didn't work out in the end.. I'm glad they at least happened. I joined basketball, I started to hang out with Hero a lot more before he went to college.  After he left it was kinda lonely, but I have my younger baby sister Sally now!

I still missed everyone though. I missed when we were friends. So I thought maybe things were getting better for us, and we could all be friends again.. now I feel scared like I was 4 years ago.

"Kel, it's okay.. everything's really hard right now." Hero said

Kel tries to formulate a sentence in between sobs

"I'm sorry.. H-Hero.. I-I-I... I'm so c-confused.. why am I.. c-crying.." Kel murmurs

"I know, it's all really confusing.. I'm... I'm scared too." Hero said

A few minutes pass, Kel calms down.

"There, are you feeling any better? I can make you some food if you need it.." Hero suggested

"W-what? Oh.. uh.. I don't mind." Kel said in confusion

Hero turns to face Kel and smiles.

"Your very selfless Kel.  You've really matured. "

Kel turns to Hero taken aback, then smiles at.

"Heh... well I wouldn't.. say that.." Kel said sheepishly

Hero turns and walks towards the bedroom door, but before he leaves, he turns back and looks towards Kel.

"Oh, and don't worry.  We'll visit Sunny and Basil soon.  Sunny's Mom went to the hospital to accompany them...." Hero said

Kel follows Hero into the kitchen, he sits down at the table and waits for Hero to cook some food.

"Oookkayyy, so.. what do you want, Kel?" Hero asks

"Uh.. ahh, I don't really care! I'll eat basically anything!" Kel exclaims

Hero continues rummaging around the kitchen pantry

"Oh look! There's a strawberry cake recipe in here!" Hero stated

"Hero, we can't have cake at this time of day.." Kel says, confused

"Oh no, haha.. I just said that because it reminded me of something.. do you remember Basil's 12th birthday?" Hero asks

Kel stops to think, then he remembers as well.

"Oh yeah! He had strawberry cake on his 12th birthday..I definitely I remember that day now..."

"Are you sure you don't want to be in the photo, sunny?" Aubrey asked

"Sunny's is a bit camera shy... we all have those days, don't we?" Mari replied

Mari turned to look towards her younger brother

"It's okay Sunny! You'll get used to it soon enough! hehe.." Mari giggled

Basil looks eagerly towards his cake, looking a the candles curiously.

"Wow! This cake looks so amazing! You've really outdone yourself this time, Hero" Aubrey exclaimed

Basil turned around in his seat and looks towards him

"Yay.. thanks, Hero! I love strawberries."Basil said happily

"Basil, Basil! What wish are you going to make?" Aubrey said keenly

"Hey, you can't ask that, Aubrey! Or else it won't come true." Kel said, cutting Aubrey off.

"Huh? Is that how it works? Then it that case... I wish.. that Kel would get straight A's in school!"

"Hey, you can't do that!" Kel said annoyed

"Hmm.. a wish?" Basil said

"Ahh.. but what should I wish for? I have everything I could want right here!"

Basil stops and stared at his candles

"...Oh, I know! Hehe..." Basil said

"I think... I'll wish for..."

Aubrey and Kel excitedly wait for Basil's answer

"... Just kidding, it's a secret!" Basil says, looking up towards Sunny with a smile.

"Aww.. I want to know though.." Aubrey says disappointed

"Guys.. if we don't hurry, the candles are going to melt!" Hero says worryingly

"Are we ready to sing?" Says Hero

"Yeah you bet!" Says Kel

"Did you want to start us off, Mari?" Hero asks

"Sure thing" Mari replied

Mark turns around and sets her self behind Basil, then looks towards Sunny, giving him a thumbs up. He gives a thumbs up back, then starts setting the camera.

"Ahem.. and a one, two, three, four..."

"Happy birthday to you!

Happy birthday to you!!

Happy birthday, dear Basil..!

Happy birthday to youuuuu!"

"WOOOO-HOOOO!! Blow out your candles, Basil!!" Kel shouts

"Make a wish..." Aubrey said

Sunny takes a photo... click!

(2/18/98- MY BIRTHDAY)

It's my 12th birthday today! I thought my friends forgot, but they all surprised me with a strawberry cake. I feel so lucky.. This year is going to be a great year!

.......

"Hahahaha! Geez, I used to be so much louder back then.." Kel said

"Not much has changed..." Hero says teasingly

"Hey!! At least my grades have improved!!" Kel shouted

"Oh Yeah? Mom tells me differently.." Hero says

Kel lays backwards in his seat and sighs

"Things were a lot simpler when we were kids..." Kel said a bit sadly

Hero leaned against the kitchen counter

"Aubrey is a lot different now, isn't she?" Hero said

Kel sat up

"Aubrey changed a lot after Mari.. passed.. Mari was really important to her, you know?" Kel stated

a silence filled the room for a moment

"I still screwed up though. I hurt Aubrey these last couple of days.. I thought I was trying to help Basil by getting his photo album, but instead I took away one of Aubrey's only safe places." Kel said sadly

Kel stood up from his chair

"I know Aubrey has learnt what she's done wrong but.. I don't think she would like us leaving her alone again. I think I.. no, I think we should go make sure she's okay.  She might be terrified." Kel said, worried.

Kel looks over to the side and nervously shuffles. Hero walks over to him

"You know.. you've grown up a lot, Kel."

Hero pats his hand on Kel's head, messing up his brown hair.

"I'm proud of you."

Spaces Inbetween.

(OLD AN): hiya! Sorry this took so long to come out. I've kinda just been doing this chapter on and off. My school holidays are coming up soon, so hopefully I can get the next chapter in those two weeks. I don't have much else to say, so enjoy the chapter!

"Sunny... you really need to sleep. It's not good for you to be staying awake for days! Especially now that your.."

Basil looked towards the window nervously

"Basil.. it's not your fault that I'm half blind." Sunny said

"Yes it is! I stabbed you in the eye and now your... never going to see through one of your eyes agian.."

Basil started shaking, Sunny put his hand on his shoulder.

"We were both hallucinating Basil.. you were having a psychotic break. you weren't trying to hurt me on purpose.. if anything it's my fault Basil. I should have been there for you... for all these years"
Sunny replied

Basil stood there, the moonlight from his window shined through his blonde hair. Though it looked grey in the dark.

On his righthand he held a pair of garden shears. His fingers gripped around the edges tightly. His pale fingers trembling, and the grip tightened harder.

The black hair like thing was holding him, almost eating him alive. It was familiar. but now, Sunny knew what it meant.

These past four years, All I've been trying to do is forget. And I almost did. I hid in my room, sleeping through summers.. barley even taking care of myself.

But I thought that it never mattered. I had friends in my head who were always there for me. Basil, Aubrey, Kel, Hero.. Mari. I was taken care of. I had a place to go, I was finally safe.

Omori always knew what to do. And if that meant removing Basil to keep me safe.. then he'd do that.

It wouldn't stop the truth from coming out though. It spread through headspace like a plague, slowly cracking open through out.. and as my journey progressed, the cracks became clearer to see.

I knew there was something wrong. I was scared of things and I had no idea why.
When Aubrey said that Mari was.. dead. I was so confused. Mari wasn't dead? She was always here.. she just.. hasn't been home for a while..

BLACKSPACE showed me the truth.

The truth about Mari. The truth about Basil. The truth about OMORI. All of it finally made sense.

I woke up in a cold sweat, and I knew I had to do something. I don't feel safe but I won't go back to sleep.

"Ah.. Sunny.. It's just you. I'm glad you came. It's so good to see you." Basil said

Sunny didn't want to be here.

"It came to you that day.. the day Mari died." Basil stuttered

He turns towards his wall nervously, then turns back towards him.

"When Mari... When Mari fell.. You couldn't have done it. It was something behind you...wasn't it?"

Basil forces a smile

"You're a good person, Sunny. I know your a good person!" He said happily

"A good person wouldn't do something like that.."

He faces towards his window, his hands clenched on his shirt.

"After all this time.. you've finally came back for me... But.. tomorrow.. your going away.." He mutters, the tone in his voice shifting

"H-HOW COULD YOU DO THAT!?!? That's mean, Sunny. That's so mean!" He yelled, sobbing.

All of the sudden he started moving backwards, as if he noticed something.

"Ah.. there's something all around us now..
Can you see it, Sunny?.. There's no way out of this, Is there?"

Sunny has a bad feeling about this. He walks back towards the door, SOMETHING touches him and he jumps. A shiver rises from his spine.

"Where are you going!? Stop trying to leave me!" Basil called

"S-Stop it! Stop it! Stop it! Stop it! Stop it!"

Basil looks around his room apprehensively. He turns back towards his window and starts sobbing

"I don't.. want to be.. alone.. not again.. You.. can't ..leave me ... again.."

Sunny walks up towards Basil, he quickly turns back to face towards him.

"No.. You wouldn't leave me. That's not like you Sunny! It's something behind you again, isn't it?" Basil exclaimed

Something started filling the room. Basil jumped.

"Ah! There it is now! Do you see it?
Stay away! Stay away from Sunny!" Basil shouted, waving his arms in the air

Basil smiles.

"I'll protect you no matter what Sunny. You can count on me!"

Basil pauses, then looks to the side.

"When something killed Mari.. When something ruined all my photos.. I didn't say anything.. I didn't want people to think it was you, Sunny." Basil gasped

Sunny looks down towards the ground, he struggles to breathe for a second. A heavy weight hangs on his shoulders.. his heart beats feels faster as the silence of the room stays longer.

"Sunny.. Sunny wouldn't... do something like that."

Basil looks behind Sunny, his face scrunches up I'm fear.

"Don't worry, Sunny.. I'll save you again. Something behind you.. I'll get rid of it once and for all." Basil said coldly

Sunny's heart stops. He sprints towards the door, but something stops him. A chill crawls up his spine, and he timidly walks back.

"Sunny.. Don't be scared. I'm scared too but... this is for the best.. "

"Everything is going to be okay..

EVERYTHING.. is going to be.. okay.."

Suddenly, Basil lifts his shears and starts frantically swinging them at Sunny. The sudden change of Basil's behaviour almost causes Sunny to fall over, but he manages to keep on his feet.

"Sunny, SUNNY! ITS ALL AROUND YOU! ITS.. It's behind YOU!" Basil screamed

Basil keeps swinging at him. in a state of panic, Sunny pushes Basil over. Basil falls and lands backwards into his bookshelf. He scrapes his knee and appears injured. Sunny ever so desperately wanted to walk over to basil, but all he could do was stand there in pure fear. Basils eyes look red from crying.

"Sunny.. there's.. no way out of this, is there..?"

Slowly, Sunny walks backwards towards the door.
He turns around and reaches for the handle, when he sees it again.

You can't calm down.
You can't focus.
You can't persist.
You can't run away.
You can't do anything.

"Tell me Sunny... Am I selfish for doing this?"

Basil runs toward him and pins him on the ground.

"EVERYTHING IS GOING TO BE OKAY, OKAY? IM TRYING TO HELP Y-YOU!!"

Basil has scratch marks all over his face. Sunny tries to reach for an escape, but Basil lifts his garden shears up.

"ITS ON YOUR FACE.. SUNNY!" Basil yelled

Sunny screamed, blood was flowing from his face. He couldn't breathe, and now he could barely see.

"Oh my god.. w-what have I d-d-done?? Sunny? No. No, no NO. SUNNY?! Fuck.. no..! He's still breathing.. SOMEONE HELP! SOMEONE PLEASE HELP!!" Basil cried

Sounds of footsteps could be heard coming outside the door. it was hard to make out what they were talking about. Basil crawled over to Sunny, his broken arm making it hard for him to move.

"I- I'm so s-sorry Sunny.. t-there r-really is no way o-o-out of t-t-this is there..I-I-it's a-all.. my fault.."

"Sunny... why did you even come to my room last night in the first place? I mean, I'm glad you did. I would have probably done something really bad if you weren't there.."

Sunny sat there for a moment, itching the bandage on his arm nervously.

"I.. I wanted to.. no, I needed to.. I.. realised something.. no I forgot about..that mar-..it's.. it's really hard to explain, Basil." Sunny replied

Basil sat up

"N-no! It's okay Sunny! It's only been 3 days since this all happened. I don't really know what I was doing either.. we both just need time to gather our thoughts. Who knows how long it will take... weeks, months... years. But, if we stick together I'm sure we'll figure it out.... I-"

The hospital door knob shook, then opened. Sunny's mother came in.

"Good news, Sunny! We're still moving out, but the deadline has been pushed towards the end of this summer. " She said happily

Basil almost jumped from his hospital bed.

"W... what?" Sunny mumbled confused

"After the people buying the house found out that you got hospitalised, they suggested pushing the date. I know after all this your probably not going to want to stay in that house anymore... but I promise you can visit your friends after we move, okay?" Sunny mom said, resting her hand on his shoulder

She stopped, and then hugged him

"I'm proud of you for telling the truth, Sunny. I didn't even know what to do all these years, and yet you managed to do this all yourself. Your my most precious sunshine. I'll always be here for you."

She leaned backwards, then walked towards the door.

"O-okay! Now you two have fun.. bye!"

"Sunny... I'm really glad you've done all this but.. I-I'm kind of scared.." Basil mustered

Sunny sat down, waiting to hear what Basil would say.

"I know everyone got really upset about you telling them what happened.. and I know you said that they'll forgive us, a-at some point. But, what if they don't? What if nothing changes.. what if everyone else leaves me again... what if they never forgive us.. what will I do when you move? what's going to happen to us, Sunny?"

Sunny sat down and rested his hand on Basil's hand.

"To be honest Basil I'm not sure. I'm scared too. I still don't really forgive myself for.. everything. but it's happened. I can't really do much about it.. I guess.."

Basil turned and looked at Sunny

"Oh.. I'm sorry, I should be listening to you, Basil." Sunny replied

"Sunny... you can talk about your feelings too.." Basil mumbled

Sunny turns and looked to face Basil

"I.. actually liked hearing that.."

Part four

A place by a lake

An: hi, I’m sooooo sorrry this took forever!!! I know I had like, and entire two weeks of free time to do this.. I won’t go into details but I just wasn’t in the mood to write. I’ve had a lot on my mind lately lol. It’s Aubrey’s birthday this month! So, I thought “why don’t I continue this series?”
Btw, I might edit sum parts in part three cuz the ending was kinda rushed :P

When Aubrey and I were kids, we’d go to everyone’s houses all the time. I still remember what Sunny’s house used to look like, that’s how much I used to go there! It was always so nice… Mari played these beautiful piano pieces while we played out in the tree house.

One thing I do remember though is that Aubrey refused to let us go to her house. She didn’t even want us to know where she lived, I didn’t even know what her house looked like for years! She always said something like.. “it’s too small for everyone to be in” or “my parents don’t like having people over..”
it was almost like she was embarrassed about it. as a kid, I thought it was weird. But now that I’ve actually seen her house, I just feel bad. It’s a complete mess, and her mother is clearly neglectful. It must have been hard. Really hard.

The door of the house creaked open

“Aubrey? Is it.. is it okay if I come in..?” Kel asked

“no.”

And then she slammed the door loudly

“H-hey!! I just want to help you!” Kel exclaimed

A small commotion of yelling could be heard in the house, Kel tried to press his ear against the door to hear. Suddenly the door swung open. Kel toppled over, but managed the catch himself.

“Don’t trip over doofus. Come on, let’s go.” Aubrey replied coldly

Aubrey started walking with her hands in her jean pockets, Kel ran to keep up with her.

“Your.. eyes..” Kel mumbled

“Huh? What about them?” Aubrey said

“Oh! Uh… sorry.. I just noticed. They aren’t green.” Kel replied nervously

“I was too.. lazy.. to put them in today. And they aren’t green, they’re aqua.”

“Oh.. right.”

Both of them walked along the sidewalk, Kel looking around the neighbourhood. He wondered where Aubrey wanted to go, she seemed much more cold than she was couple days ago.

“Hey Aubrey!!! Wanna play some soccer?” Kim said from her front yard

“Not now, Kim.” Aubrey responded

Kel noticed her looking at the ground

“U-uh.. okay.. what about some.. baseball?” Kim asked, now concerned

“I…. I appreciate the offer, Kim. But… something has happened. It’s really complicated.” Aubrey explained, muttering

“Oh… wanna talk about it?” Kim asked, dropping her soccer ball and walking over to Aubrey.

Aubrey shifted nervously for a second

“No! Oh, sorry I… I think it’s.. something me and Kel should talk about.” Aubrey responded, looking towards Kel.

Kel looked back towards Aubrey, slightly taken aback, then smiled.

“Anyways, I’ll see you later Kim.” Aubrey said, walking away

“So, where are we going?” Kel asked, drinking orange joe

“To the park.” Aubrey replied

“Uh, doesn’t that kind of have a lot of people?” Kel asked carefully

“Oh yeah, no.. we’re going to the secret hangout spot, don’t worry.” Said Aubrey, entering Faraway Park

“Ugh, the bushes are ruining my hair! Does the hangout spot really have to be here?” Aubrey groaned

“You’re ruining the fun! This place is all cool and secret!” Kel exclaimed

“Whatever..”

Aubrey stepped through the bushes, Sunny quietly following. Sunny kept his eyes locked on Aubrey’s pretty dark brown hair, admiring it.

The three of them crouched down and carefully made their way through the bushes. Sunny tripped over a small bush, Aubrey swiftly catching Sunny’s hand

“Ah! Phew, good catch! Are you.. okay?” Aubrey asked, smiling and lifting Sunny up.

Kel snickered, Aubrey abruptly changed her expression into an unimpressed look

“What’s so funny, Kel?” Aubrey asked

Kel shifting his pose, looking towards the ground trying to hide his sneaky smile

“Oh, nothing. Whatcha talkin bout..” Kel murmured

Aubrey rolled her eyes and started walking towards Mari, who had been setting up her picnic full of various fruit. Basil had seated himself on the green grass, writing a new entry for his photo album.

Just as Aubrey was about to talk to Mari, Kel ran towards the middle of the area

“Hey everybody!” Kel yelled

Everyone’s heads popped up

“Aubrey and Sunny, sittin in a tree! K-I-S-S-I-N—”

“Kel!” Aubrey and Hero exclaimed, Sunny’s face had gone red.

“Kel, I do NOT like Sunny! He’s just my friend!” Aubrey said flustered and angry

“Yeah Kel, look how embarrassed you made poor Sunny! Besides.. where did you even learn that!” Hero asked sternly

“I learned it from school! And what’s the big deal?? You and Mari are all lovey dovey and smoochy all the time!” Kel shouted

“What?? No! We don’t.. do that” Hero said, his face going slightly red.

Sunny looked at Mari, who was smugly looking to Hero. Basil also was smirking at Sunny, then made a zip lock motion at his mouth. The secret was only between the two of them.

Aubrey sneaked up behind unsuspecting Kel, then pushed him.

“Tag!” Aubrey shouted, running away

“Hey! I don’t wanna be tagged!” Kel called, annoyed.

“I feel really bad about pushing Basil into the lake. I never even got to apologise.” Aubrey said, her eyes staring into the murky waters of the small lake.

Kel crouched next to the lake.

“But after what Sunny said about her.. I don’t know.. did Basil really.. do all of that?” Aubrey stammered

“You don’t forgive him?” Kel asked

“What?! No! Well- it’s not that I don’t forgive him.. it’s more that.. well..” Aubrey responded

“Can I be honest Kel..” Aubrey said, curling herself up into a ball

“Aubrey it’s okay, you can tell me anything.” Kel responded calmly

Aubrey faced towards the dirty grass

“I’m mad at Sunny. How could he.. he killed Mari.. she wasn’t just a friend, Kel. She was my best friend. she was like a sister I never had- not ONLY that, she was a mother to me Kel! She was the only person I could cry to when my mom was too fucking drunk to give two shits about me!” Aubrey yelled angrily, tightening her grip on the grass

“All these years I’ve been trying to get over Mari.. I was so jealous of you Kel. You moved on, I just couldn’t. I couldn’t wrap my head around why she did it, no one could. I guess it makes sense why Basil was so nervous about everything, Sunny has just… gone into hiding.. he left Basil all alone! How awful, and I bullied him.. I feel even worse for Basil now. And I.. pushed him into a lake..” Aubrey cried

Kel sat quietly, listening to Aubrey.

“Aubrey, I think we should visit Basil. But.. just put your self into Sunny’s hands for a moment. You loved Mari so much.. and you accidentally killed her.. what would you do?”

“I would.. I w-would..” Aubrey murmured

“You pushed basil into the lake, what would you do if he had died? How you would you tell everyone?” Kel added

“Oh dear god.” Aubrey stuttered

“Yeah.” Kel said sadly

“I wouldn’t know what to do at all.” Aubrey said

“It’s really complicated, and you don’t even have to forgive Sunny right now. Forgetting is easy, but forgiving is so, so hard.” Kel said, looking at his reflection in the water

There was silence for a moment, all that was heard was the soft sounds of birds and wind.

“I just really wish all this could be over.” Aubrey said with a crack in her voice

“Me too. But we have each other now, don’t we?” Kel responded, trying to look on a bright side

Aubrey abruptly turned towards Kel, grabbing his hand

“Kel.. do you promise that you will never leave me? That you’re not gonna run away?”

Kel struggled to get a response

“Please… promise..” Aubrey whispered

“You promise as well?” Kel asked

“I promise Kel.”

“Okay, then I swear.”

Hi guys!
I know it’s definitely been a while.
Life has been seriously tough and hard on me.
I’ve been overthinking and overwhelmed like crazy, schools been so mentally draining it’s insane and I got gastro two weeks ago which kind of destroyed me..? But then I got destroyed even more this week and my family is genuinely concerned about me. My mum is planning to get me on anti-depressants. Idk how much they’re actually gonna help but hey I don’t care anymore 🤷
I’m writing this on my day off school, I thought that I would be too scared to go to school today. I think mum and dad both agree. I’m probably not gonna be able to make a new chapter for a bit until I’m mentally stable enough just because atm I feel like all my interests and coping mechanisms are being ripped away from me by my thoughts stabbing me into the back of my head… and I do not want that to happen with this.
On the other hand, I got into spiderverse. I love the movie!! It’s kind of become a little of a comfort movie for me rn because I’m genuinely depressed about my life lol
My favourite character is Pavitr!! Hobie is sooo fucking close to first, but Pavitr is definitely my favourite. He’s a little sunshine boy!!
You guys probably might think I’m over sharing or that I could’ve just said something popped up but idk.. as you can see I don’t really care about much anymore.
I’m trying my best though. So please be patient with me :)
