“Hi! I’m May!” She greeted. May was sitting at a desk. Her room was quite minimalistic. Only a couple of paintings and sewing designs on the wall. Trophies sat on her shelf. One of them was a trumpeter trophy. There were makeup products on her desk.
“Today, I will be doing a makeup tutorial.” She said enthusiastically. She did some jazz fingers. “People in my school tell me that I have amazing makeup. Why not give them a makeup routine?” May opened a jar of vaseline and placed some in her hand. You could tell that it was a bit too much than intended.
“Step one: Vaseline. I use lotion but since winter is coming, I use vaseline. I'm sixteen, so most of us have good skin. Did you know that Marilyn Monroe uses vaseline?” She said, rubbing the vaseline in her hands until most of it melted down. “You don’t have to do this, but you do if you want the best results.”
May puts the vaseline onto her face. She rubs it into her face, making sure she gets every inch. Once she’s done rubbing it, she takes a towel and wipes off her hands. Her face looks oily. She picks the foundation. The foundation looked very… moosey?
“This is the Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse foundation. Everybody in my school uses this. It’s really cute.” She scoops some of the foundation out using her fingers. Again, it looked like she scooped more than intended. She rubs the foundation into her hands. May pushed her hair back with her knuckle before spreading the foundation onto her face. May was tan. Someone could tell that the foundation was a little too light for her. The foundation was all over her mouth and eyes. Even her brows.
She used a makeup wipe to remove the foundation from her lips, eyes and brows. She used the same wipe to remove the foundation off of her hands. She picked up a pink blush. The brand’s name was chipped off to the point where you can’t see the name. She grabbed a brush used for blush. She patted the brush down onto the blush. Almost the entire brush was pink.
“This blush is my favorite because it’s pretty.” She rubs the brush into her cheek. Her cheeks were incredibly pink. Most likely because of the foundation shade. “This shows up so well.” She placed the brush and blush down on the desk. She grabbed some eyeshadow. They were both singles. Pastel blue and frosted.
“So many people are using this. Britney Spears really rocked this look.” She used one of those sponge brushes that came with the eyeshadow. She used the blue one first, spreading it over her eyes. As she started to do the second eye, the door opened.
“Get out of my room, Max.” May said, continuing to apply eyeshadow. The people weren’t seen, but the voices could be heard.
“Honey, we need to talk.” Her dad said. May puts her applicator down. “What’s up?” It was a beat of silence. The parents mumble a bit. “May…” Her mom touches her shoulder.
“What’s going on?” May worried. Her parents sigh. “Are you going to tell her?” The dad asked in a whisper.
“May, your father and I are spending some time away from each other.” She said, woefully.
“Don’t baby her about it, Caroline. Tell her the truth.”
“I’m trying, Norman!” She argued back.
“I’m confused.” May said.
The dad sighed. “May, your mother and I are divorcing.” May paused. Caroline rubbed her back.
“Wait, what?” May was perplexed. “Well, we had some… disagreements. We decided that the best option would be to divorce.” Caroline explained. May was silent.
“Don’t worry, May. We’ll still be there. Just not in the same house.” Norman comforted. The room was completely silent. Norman and Caroline hug their daughter. May was still silent. They step back.
“We’re going to give you some alone time, alright?” Norman said. May nodded. They closed the door. May turned back to the camera and pushed some hair from her face. Her eyes started to get watery as she picked up the lipstick. It was nude.
“So, now, we’re going to add the lip—” May started sobbing. Her cry was ugly, but it was an exception. She cried for a few seconds before stopping. She sniffled. May uncapped the lipstick and placed the nude shade onto her lips. The shade made her lips look ashy. She sniffled again.
“This shade is one of my fav–” She cried again. Her hands covered her face. She cried for another couple seconds before stopping. She wiped off her tears using the towel that she wiped the vaseline off of. She pulled out some mascara. Without saying a word, she puts the mascara onto her eyelashes. It was going good until she started on the second eye. Out of nowhere, she cried again . As she’s crying, she puts the mascara on the second eyelash.
She grabbed the eyeliner. “My friend, Dawn…” She breathed heavily, still sobbing, “She gave me this eyeliner to borrow.” She wiped off her tears but it just kept coming down. Her hands were shaking as she applied the eyeliner. Despite her shaky hands, she flawlessly applied the eyeliner on both eyes. However, the eyeliner wasn’t waterproof. The tears made the eyeliner drip down. Her tears were black from the mascara and eyeliner.
“This is my makeup tutorial. Thanks for watching.” The video ends with May sobbing.

oh, man. divorces suck. can i have the eyeshadow back? it’s been four weeks and my cousin is gonna kick my ass.

1:20. My sister uses that foundation in the shade you’re using. It doesn't look good on her but it works on you. Just go a shade darker. Also, sorry about your divorce.
