Cody was being irrational, he knew that. He knew it was irrational.
Obi-Wan shifted in his arms again and the Commander restrained himself from sighing.
It was just… his General had looked so genuinely excited when Cody’d asked him to stay and cuddle after they’d completed their flimsiwork.
This thing between them had only been going on a couple of weeks and behind all the confidence Cody had made the suggestion with, there was an underlying nervousness. It was unbecoming of a Commander, of course, but Cody couldn’t help the little shocks on anxiety in his head.
He’d never done this before. Never been in love.
Cody was prepped for almost everything on Kamino. Everything he’d ever done had been the reality of a simulation he’d gone through as a child. Everything except this. He wanted to get it right and he didn’t know how.
Obi-Wan shifted again.
Cody didn’t know if he was doing this right. He had his arms around Obi-Wan and the Jedi had his arms around him. He’d assumed those were the only requirements of ‘cuddling’, maybe he’d been wrong.
The Commander was enjoying the hug. A part of him never wanted to leave his General’s bed, wrapped in the arms of someone who loved him. He was just so scared that Obi-Wan wasn’t enjoying it. He seemed agitated.
After a moment, the Jedi cleared his throat. “I’m just going to get up to grab something to do.”
He moved to sit up and Cody held him back.
“We’re doing this.” Cody said immediately, slightly confused. “Am I not doing it right?”
“There’s no right way to cuddle Cody.” Obi-Wan said softly, turning to look at him.
“But there’s a wrong way because that’s what I’m doing.” The Commander argued, frustrated with himself. “I’m doing this wrong.”
He looked away and a hand was immediately on his face, pulling his gaze back. “You’re not doing this wrong.”
“But you want to move.” Cody argued.
“That’s not because of you.” The Jedi assured him.
The Commander sighed. “You didn’t have to do this with me, I though- you looked like you wanted to when I asked.”
“I do!” Obi-Wan insisted. “I want to lie here with you.”
“So what’s the matter? I wont be offended if I’m doing something wrong.” Cody explained. “I just need to know so I can fix it.”
“You’re doing this perfectly. I just- I can’t-”
“Can’t what?” Cody asked, worried that Obi-Wan was changing his mind about them.
“I can’t just lie here.” The General explained. “I need to be doing something, with my hands or with my mouth or something.”
Cody flushed, they hadn’t even kissed yet. “I mean if you want to-”
“Not like that.” Obi-Wan cut him off. “It’s like, you know how I always clean my lightsaber when we watch a movie with the men?”
Cody nodded and the Jedi went on. “It’s not because my hilt necessarily needs to be cleaned. It’s more because if I wasn’t doing something I wouldn’t be able to sit through the movie, no matter how much I was enjoying it.”
“Why?” The commander asked.
“I don’t know.” Obi-Wan sighed. “I just get restless when I’m not doing something.”
“What did you mean, when you said with your mouth?” Cody ventured.
“Eating and talking,” the Jedi said. “For example, I’m not restless now, because I’m talking to you.”
“So that’s what I did wrong.” Cody said with understand. “We can talk and cuddle. Why didn’t you just say that?”
“You didn’t do anything wrong.” Obi-Wan repeated. “It’s my fault I can’t-”
“I didn’t cuddle wrong. I cuddled you wrong.” Cody said. “We can talk or do something else whilst we cuddle, if you’d like?”
“But I thought you just wanted to lay still.”
“Obi-Wan,” Cody said softy. “I just wanted to lay with you.”
